While I tend to like local places over chains, whenever I’m in the north, Max and Erma’s is always a solid choice for me. I ordered a 3rd St Salad and cup of tortilla soup. Can’t go wrong with either… and they held up to their reputation. I ordered to-go, but the restaurant staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean. My order was ready quickly. It’s worth it for the soup!!!

This place was a lot like an Applebees, or Ruby Tuesdays, but just a little different in its own way. Typical wholesome AMerican eatery, so I wasn’t expecting to be blown away by any means. The service was on-point though, and my lunch entrée was pretty good. I got the shrimp scampi mac and cheese. It was super rich, very filling, and packed with a good amount of flavor. I would recommend this for the mac and cheese lovers out there for sure.

I hope they are just having a bad day. They are severely understaffed. Food is not up to its standards.

The food was not bad, but the service was horrible… With checking for refills, bill, boxes, etc. and they were not even packed. The restaurant was not even ¾ full on a Friday night. We had 5 people in our group, and told it was a 25 minute wait, with empty tables every where. It took them 10 mins to sit us. Then we had to wave our server over for our refills on our drinks, boxes, bill, etc.

Always loved the food; specifically the buffalo chicken sandwich and fries. But, it never fails — The last three visits over the last year — the service has out-right SUCKED. No refills, never acknowledged by a server after being seated, and parts of the order forgotten. Three visits at random times over 365 days suggests the likelihood they will ALWAYS suck is real.

We usually have outstanding service and food when we go to this location but today at lunch they were struggling a bit. They didn’t have lemon for our waters, which isn’t a big deal at all, but our server said she was cutting some up for us and never brought them out to us. We ordered three lunch salads and a burger meal for my husband. Considering three of the four meals were cold dishes we thought it was odd that my husband’s burger came out barely warm and his fries were down right cold. Also, our salads were all ordered without onions and only one came out without onions and my mother inlaws came with extra onions. We asked for different breadsticks too because all of ours came out rock hard and dry. The ones that the server brought to replace the ones we originally had came out even worse, and burnt. We then gave up. The salads themselves were very tasty though and the perfect size for a lunch portion. We ordered soft pretzels for an app and they were a way over salted but still tasty and eaten up within minutes. I’ve never had a bad experience here until today, so we’ll just chalk it up to an off day for the staff.

Max and Erma’s is one of those places where Jules and I tend to go when we want to go out, but can’t actually decide on where we want to go. M&E specialize in burgers and, truly, I can’t complain about those. Their cooks generally prepare the burger in the way you ask, with no issues. The beef blend is savory and filling and the toppings are fresh. I do feel that their burgers are somewhat overpriced for what you get, but that’s more a matter of opinion. The notorious tortilla soup? Yeah, I’ll do that all day long. It’s spicy and cheesy – maybe just a touch too cheesy? is that a possibility? – with crispy tortilla shreds over the top. Chalk this one up as a solid chain that I’ll gladly go back to. They don’t ever blow my mind, but they’ll fill me up.

Recently went for a family birthday get together. Staff was great but that’s about the only thing that was. The tables were so sticky I didn’t want to lay my arm on it. Our shoes stuck to the carpeting. It was disgusting. I took my Grandson to the bathroom and those floors(tile) were just as sticky. I’ve been to this location before and do not remember it being like this. New management possibly? But whatever, they need to get their act together and clean the place up! The food was pretty good. My husband ordered a medium well hamburger and it was pretty rare. They made him a new one, no problem. I just have a hard time enjoying a meal when the restraunt isn’t clean.

Pretzels are great… Food is average. Good for a road trip quick meal. Staff is friendly and would get another ½ star if was available on this app…

We stopped here for dinner while in Dayton. We just recently discovered Max & Erma’s. They have a tortilla chicken cheese soup that is excellent. It has a kick to it and a great blend of cheese, chicken and awesome tortilla strips. We had excellent service. The staff was friendly, helpful and attentive.

You’ll get a better burger at five guys for less money. As for the rest of the entrees they range from«meh» to «wtf were they thinking? «. There’s basically no reason to ever go here. Unless reheated GFS crap suits your palate.

We like to eat at Max and Erma’s whenever we pass through Dayton. Nice staff, friendly atmosphere and great burgers. We haven’t been disappointed yet! I’d really like it if this chain would open some locations in our area.

The service was decent and they did make it right when the steak was over cooked and the burger undercooked. Get the banana cream pie you won’t be sorry!

Always have a good experience here. Staff is always friendly and attentive. On this visit I got Tortilla Soup(which I can never go without as I feel it is a must do at this establishment.) I also went with a lunch portion of the Hula Bowl. This dish had been taken off of the menu for a few years and thankfully had been brought back. I enjoyed the meal. The new décor in the dining room is very nice with the new fireplace and new chandeliers. The bar décor is a little tacky to me. Still I always enjoy this place.

The service here was excellent(aside from it taking a while to be seated when the restaurant wasn’t busy at all) but the food just wasn’t great. We had the hummus platter to start which was fine but wasn’t great. The pita especially was disappointing. Maybe if it had at least been toasted it would have been better. I ordered the Erma size mushroom and swiss burger which had absolutely no flavor. I also noticed that they serve both size burgers on the same bun so my small burger sat in the middle of a huge bun which really didn’t work well. My burger came out medium as I requested by by fiancé’s came out almost rare. I’m assuming because he got the Max size that they didn’t account for the longer required cooking time. I was excited to hear about the ice cream sundae bar but they didn’t have any toppings that appealed to me. At least their prices were decent!

Has really gone downhill, at least at this location. Waited to be greeted, waited for silverware, planned to order an appetizer first, but the waiter was so rushed he was ready to take our entire order. Asked for our appetizer first and all the food came out together. Didnt ask how we wanted burgers cooked, mine came out incorrectly, as I ordered the tortilla burger and received it with no tortilla strips or the side of soup. I had to remind the waiter what was supposed to be on it. Servers need to be trained!!! Back to Ruby Tuesday for us!

The service is terrible here. It took our server 3 attempts to bring us hot tea, he kept bringing cold water in the pot. The service was slow and he seemed a bit overwhelmed with our table of 7, not good since his name tag said he was a «certified» trainer. In the end the food was average and the service was not that.

Service was good and food was decent, much like your chain-gangs of the world. Heavy on fat and fries
