For the record I really-really-really wanted to like this place, but there were just too many little things that were off that ultimately made me give this place less than three stars. The location of this little coney is right outside of the Downtown Dearborn area. it’s busy enough to seem like there’s stuff going on, but just enough off the beaten path to not feel all crazy. The establishment itself was«cozy» and had an inviting décor about it… it was a coney island, but with a little more home-like charm. Our server was pleasant but not overly friendly(I kinda got the vibe that she really didn’t want to be there but was doing an OK job of putting on a front). There was a man who kept sitting down to read the paper and then would get up occasionally to go off to the grill line to cook, this is where my I raised by eye brow with slight concern. As luck would have it, my concern would be validated later on in my dining experience. My delicacy choice of the day was(if you know me, you probably guessed it) was a Ruben Omelet w/Hash Browns, Wheat Toast and coffee. The coffee tasted surprisingly good, I was even more surprised that the coffee was pre-ground Folgers(go figure)! My main course was well, not as surprisingly good as my coffee. My omelet was OK, it was in my opinion a little over cooked but not horrible. The part I had an issue with the under and over-cooked hash browns that had that crunchy uncooked potato crunch and mouthfeel, but the real kicker was that there pieces that were cooked in such a way where they had the chewy consistency of plastic(ever chew on a thicker bendy straw?) This alone was enough to turn me off wanting to revisit Cedars. My toast might as well have been immersed in butter as I felt like I was drinking butter off my toast as opposed to eating it with my toast. I wondered what could have went wrong… ah, rewind to our news paper reading cook. It became obvious to me that multitasking might not have been one of this guys’ better skills and it came through in my food. Not Cool. This place has potential to be better, but some one might wanna pay attention to the grill instead of the Saturday Morning News. Nuff Said.
