History

Established in 1887.

The home was built in 1887 by Thomas Jefferson Means. He and his wife Cora Boydston lived here their entire lives. During that time, they had 6 children. When Thomas and Cora passed, their daughter Elizabeth took over the home with her husband Dr. M.C. Boydston. They intern lived her their entire lives and had two children, Evelyn and Lucille. When Evelyn passed away in her 90’s, her then husband Frank Ferguson took over the home. In 2003, he auctioned off the then 400-​acre estate in pieces. The home, barn, and five acres are all that remains today.

In 2003, the home was purchase and renovations began. In January 2012, Theresa Hubbard, purchased the renovated home. Theresa is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist practicing in Liberty, MO. She purchased the home with the intent of doing group retreats and called it, «The Journey Home.» After opening and holding several retreats, people became interested in using the space for weddings and now, we do several throughout the year.
