I have been seeing Dr. Gilbert for a few years now, he is the BEST DENTIST! I had an intense fear of dental work and mouth pain, until I found Dr. Gilbert. I am anxiety prone and had put off going to the dentist for longer than I would like to admit. However, Dr. Gilbert and his staff put me at ease at every avenue!
There are smiles and warm greetings upon arrival, everyone is friendly and caring. After signing in and within minutes of my appointment time I am seen and taken care of. The hygienists are so sweet and quite funny, they are also very gentle AND thorough during your appointment.
Dr. Gilbert has such a calming presence when he enters the room, you know that you are in good hands and that everything is going to be okay. He truly cares about your well being and every visit he always goes above and beyond to improve the quality of your dental health.
I had endless questions and he answered every single one. I appreciate his patience and taking time to thoroughly explain every detail and describe what was going on with my mouth, treatments options, and procedures. I was able to relax and not be so overwhelmed. You can tell he is passionate about what he does and that he loves helping people. He makes me feel like a friend, family. Mouth pain is scary and when you are going through it, you feel like it will never end. Dr. Gilbert puts you at ease and makes it right!
I am so grateful to him, his staff, and also my countless friends who referred me to him over the years. I wish I had gone to Clairmont Dental sooner!
Do not put off going to the dentist like I did! Please learn from my mistakes! Brush your dang teeth and go to the dentist!

My husband has been seeing Dr. Gilbert for about 20 years, and I’ve seen him since I moved to GA about 17 years ago. We’re a family of 5 now and we all love seeing Dr. Gilbert. He and his staff are always friendly, laid back, caring and they’re all great with the kids. We could find a dentist that is much closer to us instead of driving 45 minutes to see him, but we love the practice so this is where we’re staying.

I hate dentist… all my life I’ve hated them. And I’m sure they hate me thanks to my awesome gag reflexes. When I started coming here, 6 years ago, I assumed I would hate them just as much, but on the contrary every visit has been rather pleasant. Never thought I would use those words to describe a dentist office. Ever technician has been super pleasant and considerate of my needs as the patient. I’ve been putting off a filling for 2+ years because I assumed it would be the worst thing ever but again it was surprisingly painless and gag free! =) Highly recommend Dr. G for any current «dentist haters» he is sure to change your mind! The front desk is also super awesome, always remembers who you are and happy to work with you in anyway possible.

They have the best staff I have ever encountered. The wait time is non-​existent. They do a fantastic job in every aspect. They treat you like family. I have finally found my dental home.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Gilbert’s for 4 years. I started seeing him as a student at Emory and continued after graduating and moving 40 minutes away out of a misguided sense of loyalty. As a person, he’s friendly and soft-​spoken. His office is somewhat dingy, and I’ve suspiciously eyed some grimy tools from the chair. None of this really bothered me, I trusted Dr. Gilbert.
Last year I went through several procedures under his guidance. This included a referral to an oral surgeon for wisdom teeth removal and an onlay from him. The onlay procedure seemed rushed and I had some trepidation, it was never properly explained to me. The hygienist was who initially consulted me and up-​sold me to the gold onlay. During the actual procedure, he was using me to train someone but never cleared that with me. All of this I let slide because I trusted Dr. Gilbert.
Before the procedure the front office went over billing and costs. They told me my out of pocket cost was $ 600 and insurance would cover the rest. 90 days later, without any contact from them, I receive an invoice for another $ 600. I call them to see if this was a mistake. They tell me my insurance had reached the maximum coverage amount. It turns out that when they initially tell you is only a ‘courtesy estimate’. Every procedure I had performed that year was under Dr. Gilbert’s direction.
I accept that ultimately the responsibility lies with the policy holder. What I don’t abide is the ‘courtesy estimate’ where they don’t actually confirm with your insurance what your out of pocket costs are even though they have all your information. Why not have the policy holder confirm with insurance for themselves? To me, this is simply lying to patients. The office gets paid whether it is through insurance or from the patient. I spoke with the office staff and they said ‘this happens all the time’ but no one has bothered to change their procedure. I’d obviously not have approved it if the out of pocket cost was $ 1,200. It was November, I could have waited for January.
I left a message for Dr. Gilbert asking to speak with him. He did call me back on Friday afternoon. (When his office was closed.) However, he danced around any responsibility on his side. At first he blamed the insurance company, then he blamed the medical system, and then he said it was due to software he uses from 1993. He gave me a spiel about how the medical industry has changed over the generations. He said he hires three people specifically to deal with insurance. He said we were both victims, yet he will ultimately get paid. Some victim you are Doc. He told me that I should work out a payment plan. Then he told me to start paying cash upfront if I want to avoid these problems. He moaned that his heart hurt from me feeling that his office was negligent but didn’t offer any real recourse. As someone who is living paycheck to paycheck, my trust in Dr. Gilbert and his staff has cost me dearly.
I can’t recommend him after this ordeal. I’m just a naïve, hardworking guy who trusted ‘professionals’ and was burned for it. There are definitely better offices in the metro area.
