Avalon Station 250

We lived at Avalon Station in Dedham for six months while in between houses. Our apartment was very clean but had a bit of an odd odor, not terrible but noticeable. The office staff and maintenance crew were very responsive; we submitted two requests for maintenance and both were handled very quickly. In the office, Brian and Lisa are very friendly and helpful. The Avalon staff are proactive in keeping the buildings up to date with fresh paint and carpet (we preferred the old colors, they were much more distinctive, but you can’t please everyone), and the grounds are well kept. We didn’t have pets, but it’s very pet friendly, and we saw a lot of residents walking their dogs and usually doing a good job of cleaning up after them. The biggest downside, as with any large apartment community, is the residents who aren’t as interested in keeping it clean. People dumped unbelievable amounts of their junk in the trash/​recycling rooms and in the outside trash areas, despite signs posted to the contrary. Just plain laziness and selfishness. We also had our bikes stolen from the rack in the garage, although the buildings themselves are locked so security isn’t a big concern. The biggest plus is the location — right next to Legacy Place for dining, shopping, and movies, very close to I-​95 and Route 1, and across the street from the Dedham Corporate Center commuter rail stop (for quick access to Boston). Overall a pleasant enough experience with a few blemishes.

I have been living at Station Circle for the last 3 years and I have been very happy up until now, the management decided to paint our hallways, supposedly with a better color scheme. The entire community loved the elegant and classy hallways and door colors, giving the sense to all residents and visitors to be walking into a 5 star luxury hotel. Now with the white molding and baseboards, it looks boring, unfinished, and depressing. The feeling you get now is like walking into a health center or a depressing mental institution!!!

Avalon Station has been wonderful when it came to responding to my questions, pushing up my move in date and was responsive and extremely helpful when I had to cancel my lease.

Location is great. Service is poor. There is government subsidized housing at this location.

I’ve lived here since May 2012 and have had up and down experiences.
The complex has been sold twice so far, and is now on its third management company, Avalon.
The folks that work in the office are awesome, specifically Eric and Kira. They’ll go out of their way to help you out (they even fed my cat when I was out of town and my cat sitter flaked.)
The apartments themselves are nice and comparably priced to those around the area.
The buildings are cheaply constructed, as you’d expect, which lends some sound bleeding. The guy who lives about me sounds like he’s stomping around 247 which is annoying and I’ve had to complain about him a number of times.
Thankfully the woman who lives next to me travels for work quite a bit and is hardly ever home. Though when she is, the wall is so thin that I can hear her alarm clock go off. Since I’m such a light sleeper, it wakes me up.
Decent pricing, nice community, extremely convenient location (walk to Legacy Place in 30 seconds? Whole Foods in 5 minutes? Yes, please!), good employees, nice pool. Overall a great place.
If you live here and have a dog, please clean up after it. If I step in your dog’s poop one more time, I’m going to have to pick it up and put it in your mailbox.
