History

Established in 2001.

The Ivory Restaurant & Pub is located in the heart of The Connecticut River Valley between Chester and Essex, in the town of Deep River.

In 1809, George Read began a business manufacturing ivory products at the site now occupied by Piano Works. The town grew up around this industry and for generations, Ivory and Deep River went hand in hand. The workers were skilled at turning ivory into combs, buttons, and piano keys.

In fact, the Pratt, Read & Company factory became the nation’s main supplier of piano keyboards.

The Ivory Restaurant & Pub is committed to a long-standing tradition of community. We value your support and suggestions as we strive to be the ideal neighbor.
