Avalon Salon & Day Spa

Came here to get both manicure and pedicure. Was satisfied with the manicure (although it started chipping two days later, life happens). The tech listened when I asked her not to cut my cuticles.
I was extremely disappointed with the pedicure though. The tech barely rubbed my feet with a pumice stone. I am more forceful on my own in the shower than she was. And my feet REALLY needed more than a light rub, they needed a callus razor! I know some places don’t claim to do that, but will offer it if really needed, and I needed!
The pedicure cost $ 55, and for that I left with feet in no better condition than when I got there except for two coats of nail polish.
Won’t be going back.

I came here with a friend to get my nails done for my wedding because I had a gift card. We went in on a Wednesday and the wedding was on Saturday. The lady who did my pedicure and gel manicure was great (Therese, I think). My nails and toes lasted until the wedding, not much after that. However, my friends nails and toes chipped before the wedding! Pretty disappointed that after spending $ 100 for these services, they did not last a week! I will not be back.

I came in with a group of 5 on April 2,2016 late afternoon and I was not familiar with this salon. I give this place a 3 star because my manicurist behaved inappropriately and by that I mean she was very strange. Without going into the boring details, my manicure ended up being longer than normal because the manicurist had no skill at all.
I had to change color twice because she said the polish was «not right». Don’t know what the hell that means but not my problem. Their Essie nail polishes are all messed up. I finally switched to another brand that I found out is like a gel but doesn’t require light to set it and is supposed to last 2 weeks. I ended getting my nails polished by a different manicurist because the original girl said she couldn’t do it cause she was «dizzy». I was amazed to say the least… I kept thinking «is this really happening?» Lol. So the dizzy manicurist ditches me and immediately starts on another customer who was actually waiting for her. Unbelievable and just ridiculous.
I was glad to get out of there. I still gave a tip because I’m a nice person (yes I got a discount). The owner or manager Doris came out to thank us for coming (she didn’t know about my horrible experience) and gave us each a sort of goodie bag with cute little items in them. I thought this was so nice of her.
Btw, my nail polish started chipping the next day. Would not go back for a manicure!

My mom and I came here for the first time to get pedicures because she had a gift card. I was pleasantly surprised with how attentive the service was and some of the extra details they included during my pedicure. I really liked their selection of colors. They also gave me the nail file and foot scrubber to keep which I really appreciated, considering I was in desperate need of a new nail file. Overall I really enjoyed my first experience!

I was in the salon 1 week ago. I did not have a stylist but the salon gave me an option of 3 stylist. I picked the one that fitted my time of the day. The staff was friendly but the stylist was horrible. He proceeded to cut all my hair off after I told him trim and layered. He was Asian
And had no sense to listen to the customer.
I was terribly upset and will never go back

My first experience I had a horrible bikini wax. It didn’t hurt and the woman doing it was nice… but the job was far from well done. I ended up having to redo it myself!
I called to get my money back but instead they gave me points to use towards more services. I decided to use the points and schedule my boyfriend a massage. I called to schedule the massage and the woman who answered was rude and had no idea what she was doing, she transferred me to a manager who wouldn’t let me pre-​pay for a massage. She told me I had to pay the day of the service. I was just trying to be nice and gift him a massage but she literally said no, she didn’t accommodate me what so ever. I am trying to use the business and spend money there and I was stopped.
Looks like I still have points I can’t use…

What an amazing salon! I got the opportunity to tour this amazing place. The owner Bonnie was so sweet and amazing with her staff and the staff was so welcoming!!! The ambiance is serene, calming, comforting and professional!!! Every client that walked out looked on point and I would recommend this place to everyone I know!!! Thank you Avalon!!!

I went in to buy some product. Since when is it okay for cashiers to be snobby and rude to paying customers. Also, the ladies are sitting around in the front doing nothing while things are dirty. Speaks volumes about how the salon is run. I would never come back in for services.

I had a great experience with Christine for a hair cut. It was relaxing and she listened to what I was looking for and her cutting experience showed. Everyone in the salon was pleasant. This is one of the better aveda salons I have been to in the area. I will be back, thanks!

Had a pedicure here that was less than relaxing. I was left to soak for over 10 mins (i thought the girl forgot about me), then I received the roughest, rushed «massage» ever. The experience was not memorable or relaxing but cost me $ 55… NEVER AGAIN.

Came in for an eyebrow wax and tint and absolutely loved my esthetician. She took time to understand both my brows and my goals and recommended the best solution for my needs/​wants. Very careful and attentive.
They have some great Aveda and Opi products at the entrance that are worth a look. I bought two peachy pink nail polishes.
The check-​out process was a little awkward as I had to step over a team member who was inventorying eyeshadow in plastic bags on the floor of the lobby. One star less than five for this reason.
Very convenient location, very friendly and helpful team members. I will definitely be back soon again.

I’m glad that I found this place! After having an awful experience getting a Brazilian in the past at a different salon, it took over a year for me to consider it again.
I always make my appointments with Kim. She is awesome! I get my eyebrow, full legs with her too.
Kim is the best!!!

I love this place! The spa is so gorgeous and relaxing. My nail technician was a sweet heart and had all the time in the world for me. Aveda products smell amazing. Go here!

This place is FANTASTIC! I had a wonderful experience getting highlights from Trina, who is a master stylist there. My hair has been colored so many times (blonde, red, brown) with both permanent and semipermanent dye. She took me from a washed out brown color that was also in bad need of a decent haircut, and transformed it into a gorgeous blonde color that she toned perfectly. The cut was just as good as the color! I’ve had so many botched haircuts in the past, and now I’ve become very wary of stylists. However, Trina is extremely talented and takes pride on her work. She definitely made me a new client of hers!
Aside from the great color and cut, the overall experience was great. The owner, Bonnie, is very involved with the salon. She is very knowledgable about her business, and is also very kind and friendly. Her front desk staff is as well, and the place is kept in mint condition and is extremely clean.
If you book an appointment for any service, make sure you try their special comfort tea. It’s delicious! (:

I love going to Avalon for my hair and nails. I’m notorious for being especially picky about who does my hair. I highly recommend Trina! I wouldn’t go to anyone else. I have a tendency to grow my hair out to donate and so it’s often long between visits, but Trina picks up like we just chatted last week. Always feel welcomed by her and I know she is able to handle my persnickety hair.
Also, I have been going regularly to get my nails done by Pam. Again, I highly recommend her. She really cares about my nails and how they last. She wants to make sure I am happy. Doris is also good and my mom regularly gets her nails done by Sophie.
When you arrive they offer you a beverage and then take you to the waiting area. It’s always nice to have a drink as you wait… if you have to wait.

I have been going to Avalon consistently for the last 5 years. (I’m ashamed it has taken so long to write a review.) I see Hannah every 6 – 8 weeks and she never disappoints! She’s a great person as well as a very talented stylist. She always picks the perfect shade for my hair, which has sometimes been a struggle in the past.
When Hannah was out on maternity, I saw Kim and a few other stylist, and each time they did an amazing job!
After watching my mom get the wrong shade of color at Mario’s for what felt like the 100^th time, she finally switched to Avalon and now looks more beautiful than ever!
Highly recommend!!!

I recently had a no chip manicure at Avalon Salon and I have to say that Zanda is the best nail tech that I have had in YEARS! I have had many manicures and her attention to detail did not go unnoticed. Not only did my manicure last 2+ weeks, she was super sweet! The five stars are for her, not the salon. If you go here, GO SEE ZANDA!!!
Forty dollars for a no chip manicure is pricey! The salon itself could use some updating and definitly needs a face lift! If the owner is going to charge those kind of prices they should really consider putting some thought into making the space more relaxing, professional and updated. Attention to details, like putting a large floor plant in a pot, rather then having it just sitting in a corner on the floor with it’s plastic container that it came in, or a nice display for the no chip color options rather then them just being shoved into a cabinet would be a start.

Bonnie, the salon director, knows how to treat people and makes you feel like a million bucks. I walked out feeling so relaxed and smelling so good, I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to make it home without falling asleep! My massage therapist asked me what areas I would like to have extra attention to, took her time, and let me lay there and be still without feeling like I had to engage her in small talk. I have had many massages, but the entire Avalon experience I had today far surpassed anything I’ve ever had before.
I highly recommend Avalon Salon & Day Spa in Deer Park. I can’t wait to go back and get pampered again!
One more thing… when you walk in and they offer you something to drink, get the Aveda tea. It was delightful!

I’ve gotten my hair done here for years with various stylists, but for about the last 3 years I have been seeing Hannah. I am constantly getting compliments about my hair, her highlights are the best. Hannah is creative, attentive, and really knows the Aveda products. She also gives the best head and hand massages! I always leave Avalon looking and feeling great!
Avalon also have a beautiful private spa in back that is a completely different experience from the hustle of the main floor. I would recommend Avalon, and specifically Hannah to anyone looking for a great stylist!

I came here this past Saturday with my sister because she had a gift card and was treating. I also desperately needed a hair trim. We walked in for our 8:45 a.m. appointment and they were just completing their staff meeting. It was a little awkward with everyone staring at us but one lady pulled away and offered us some hot coffee or tea which was nice. They then brought us to their waiting area tucked away in the back.
When my stylist was ready, she examined my hair and provided good tips for hair/​scalp health. I thought, «Great, this is going to go well!» Well, I was wrong… after she got comfortable, she started telling me random stories about her life. I guess I’m a good listener because she just kept going and going. Her stories included illegal activities and questionable parenting. It was early and I would have preferred small talk. or none at all.
I asked for 3 inches off. I just needed a good trim. She did cut about 3 inches off the front but once I was done, I realized she cut about 6 inches from the back! I was a bit in shock but she stated that she wanted to make my hair even throughout. I can understand that but that’s not the style I asked for. So why the 3 stars. Well, despite her cutting off more than what I asked for, she did a good job. And she provided me with funny stories to tell my friends later. I probably won’t return. There has to be better places in the suburbs.
