History
Established in 1979.
Founded in 1979 by William J. Rand, M.D., as a small, private practice consisting of only four exam rooms, one nurse, one optometrist and two receptionists, the Rand Eye Institute has grown to become one of the largest comprehensive eye care and surgical facilities in the country. With three floors, including a self-contained surgical pavilion, a staff of more than 100 health care professionals and a team of board certified doctors, the Rand Eye Institute is clearly focused on giving you The Best Vision Possible.
Meet the Business Owner
William J. Rand, M. D.
Business Owner
Dr. William J. Rand’s medical degree was awarded by the State of New York in 1974 through State University of New York. He completed his microsurgical ophthalmology training at Brooklyn Eye and Ear Hospital and Brookdale Hospital Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. He served as Chief Resident in Ophthalmology during his third year of residency training. Fellowship training was completed at both The Institute of Ophthalmology in Houston, Texas and Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida.
Dr. Rand’s credentials include Board Certification from the American Academy of Ophthalmology (Fellow), American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, as well as a member in good standing with numerous local Florida Societies.
He has been honored by several awards and recognitions beginning with a Bolivia School of Medicine wing named in honor of Rand Eye Institute, American Medical Assoc., South Florida Business Journal Heavy Hitter in Health Care Award and Top Doctors in Ophthalmology.
