They’ve been in business since 1947! Food was good, nice little place. Service was friendly. A little grubby, bathroom not connected to the building. All in all a great little hole in the wall kind of place.

Awesome local food! Fast service too, way better than any fast food chain restaurant. Support local businesses!

Apparently this is the second-oldest hot dog stand in the United States after Coney Island, and by the looks of the place, I tend to believe the claims. It is a tiny little shack just south of US-90 on 9th Street in «Downtown» DeFuniak Springs. The inside has maybe 7 or 8 bar stools up against the counter where one guy serves up the made-to-order hot dogs and hamburgers. He uses an old griddle that’s been there since the joint opened up in the 1940s and no doubt has been seasoned by decades of good, ol’ hamburger grease! The burgers and hot dogs are absolutely delectable. I would suggest ordering the«all beef» hot dog, because this is grilled up on the same griddle the burgers are cooked on, which allows the frank to soak up the flavors left by sizzling hamburgers. On busy days you won’t find seating inside, but there are a few tables just outside. When you visit, be sure to notice the small window immediately to the left of the cooking area. This was the window where«non-whites» would place their orders during the bad old days of segregation and Jim Crow. And this curious tidbit was told to me by a distinguished black gentleman comfortably enjoying his double cheeseburger – inside :-) Definitely a must-visit if you’re in this quaint, historic little town!

The second oldest continuously running hot dog stand in the USA. The first one is in Cony Island NY. Even the Ruben sandwich was good. Very small place with a few stools but the guy cooking knows how to do it right

This place is a great dive and deserves some recognition. Although it is a hot dog place, their burgers are phenomenal along with the BBQ pork sandwiches! Also a word to help find it, it is located south of the 90 highway, while google says north.

The H&M is best enjoyed as a slice of DFS history rather than a cheap hot dog lunch counter. Five chili dogs and a slaw dog came to $ 17+! Yes, it was a quality dog and prepared properly but the chili was out of a can and the slaw was pre made as well(but it did make for a nice taste combination; better than the chili). Given that there are only 6 seats at the counter and two small tables outside, you better plan on getting it to go. However, this is a DFS institution and merits a visit. The burgers looked good cooking on the flattop in a greasy spoon sort of way. Next time we’ll give them a try.

A great little grill. There is something fun about sitting at a counter and watching the guys just fire up your orders. Everything we had was delicious. A perfect little lunch spot.

I didn’t see anything special about this place. The food was below average. The burgers were just burgers on a flattop. The chili dog had american cheese melted in a microwave. And the prices were not all that great either, 2+ for a hebrew national dog on a regular bun. The people were friendly. And cash only. Just not worth the detour off of the 10.

Tucked away in the sleepy town of De Funiak Springs is H&M Hot Dog where they make a hot dog that puts any Chicago hot dog place to shame. Inside seating for 8 is no problem as they have a beautiful outside eating area. Quick friendly service and low prices make this a great lunch stop. Don’t be fooled by the appearance, this place is great!
