It’s true, you do get what you pay for. After not having to pay for our annual return to the DeKalb County area for our family Christmas(due to Marriott points), we finally needed to find a place that was reasonably close and wouldn’t break the bank. There weren’t many reviews for any of the local places, so we settled here. Normally, I would review a place while I was still staying there, but this time, I was afraid that something would happen to my things or my toothbrush if I did, so opted to wait until checking out. For starters, the night desk clerk is very nice and welcoming, but that’s where it ended. The room was like an oven when we walked in. W e had to open the window to make the room more comfortable. The décor was so old and outdated that it looked like something out of a horror movie. There is no elevator, so if you’re on the second floor you have to lug your suitcases upstairs, not sure how they get away with this and the ADA act. The shower/tub was nasty — it didn’t drain; every morning during our showers(with the exception of the very last morning) we had over and ankle’s height of water in the tub while taking a shower(and not a long shower). The breakfasts were all just carbs and sugar, no protein. The daily housekeeping was a joke. We brought pizza back to our room one night and I had placed the remaining pizza into mini-fridge in the room. When I folded up the box into the ONLY small garbage can in the whole room(in the bathroom) some of the red pepper fell onto the floor. The next day AFTER housekeeping was there to «clean» our room, there was still red pepper all over the bathroom floor AND in the bathtub! Needless to say, we won’t be back next year. Oh, there is a very small pool there, but nobody was in there the entire time we stayed. I think I was just too scared with the way our room was cleaned that the pool would have been maintained in the same fashion.

My room was clean and pristine with wifi, fridge and microwave. Everything I need. The hotel is in a really pretty field. I saw rabbits and dear out of the window. I spend a ton of time and a ton of money on hotels in Chicago. This was a really nice getaway for literally HALF the price. And the staff was extremely polite and helpful on the phone and in person. GREATVALUE! :)

WARNING! DONOTSTAYHERE! I was visiting my brother at NIU with my sister & a friend. We booked on because it looked clean & cheep, and it was available. When I went to check in I was presented with a list of rules to follow, one of them being that no one is allowed in the room except the people who were staying in it. So the plans of my brother meeting us there while we got ready to go out at night would not be okay? They claimed that they have camera’s all over and they watch them and we will be kicked out with no refund. I have never heard of a hotel telling a customer they couldn’t have a guest in their room? These owners are crazy, stay away!
