Geppetto’s is the rich kids version of K·B Toys store.
While K-​B went bankrupt years ago, this San Diego chain is thriving. Walking into this location you’ll know how Geppetto’s differentiates itself from the big box stores… service. Teen workers will pounce on you asking if you need helping finding anything or if you have any questions.
Probably perfect for grandparent that have no clue what’s popular these days. The section at this store is pretty small, but it hits all areas. I found plenty of stocking stuffers here so it was a win for me.
— You could probably find better options elsewhere for specific items (Educational and Science at Lakeshore Leaning, and Lego and dolls at Toys R Us.) but this is a place that has a bit of everything.

Not cheap by any means, but let’s just say that I’m glad my son is too young to beg for toys yet, because this whollllle store has so many cute things! From baby stuff to fun and educational older kid toys, everything is organized in such an appealing way.
We ended up buying him a few things, anyway! I’ll definitely be back!

I’m a fan of smaller toy stores that carry unique products. Items that lend themselves to helping children develop a love of learning, strengthening of motor skills (muscular movement), and to develop a natural curiousity for the world around them can be found here!
Geppetto’s carries toys and games that cause one to stop and question their purpose! As an elementary school teacher, I found manipulatives that are ideal for small group instruction. Kinisthetic (hands on) learners would benefit from items found within the science section. Moreover, parents who have children that are struggling in school could benefit from selecting items specific to their child’s area of need!
What irked me a bit was the fact that Geppetto’s does not offer a teacher’s discount! Much of what is found within this store is applicable to classroom instruction so this was disappointing! They do price match BUT only with nearby stores such as Target and Walmart. The items must also be currently in stock within the San Diego area!
has highly competitive prices but since it’s an online store, the price matching ability is inapplicable here.
Nevertheless, Geppetto’s is a solid store! Their employees are friendly and quite humorous. I had so much fun exploring around and they didn’t seem to mind that I was full of questions. Therefore, I plan to stop by this location when I return to the San Diego area because I was highly intrigued by much of what they had to offer!

When I’m in town I always come here to shop for my little girl. This is probably my favorite toy store in the country!!! With brands like Hape, Lego, and Ravensburger you can’t go wrong! It’s clean organized and the staff is very helpful. Bring your little ones to play on the little playground that the surrounding plaza provides for ages 1 – 4.

Located on the lower level of the newly remodeled Flower Hill Mall on the east side of I 5.
All of the toys here are carefully selected to inspire creativity, role playing, and thoughtful play. Most everything is made from natural materials– lots of Melissa and Doug type toys. Great ideas for toddlers to middle school kids.
Expect to pay full price– I’m not aware of any sales per se. But if you are shopping for something unique, you probably won’t mind spending a bit more than the toy warehouse places.

Loved their toys and the customer service was great as well. Location is not great, hope you can find it. Great place to get a gift for the little ones.

This is one of our favorite toy stores in San Diego. They have a great selection of toys and the staff has always been nice. Much more personal than a big box store, but items are not generally on «sale» just regular or full price.
I like that they are interactive and community-​oriented, i.e., they held a great store opening last year with entertainment, refreshments and giveaways.

They are usually quite busy, especially if you need something wrapped. They seem to have only 1 or maybe 2 people on staff at any one time. We last went on a Saturday morning (primo time for families shopping for last minute sat PM birthday parties.) To only have 1 person at the register is really not appropriate. i think they are so hidden though, and that must hurt business. They should advertise some coupons to lure del mar and solana beach customers. We always find things for bday parties and will return. We finally filled our coupon card, and got almost $ 50 towards any item (s). But it took almost 2 years!

GREAT SELECTION! cool stuff that you can play with and an awesome chess board out front. the down side is the price. everything is way expensive!!! almost TOO expensive.
but they have really cute stuff so if you can afford it, grab one of their tiny shopping carts and fill’er up!
