Well it’s sort of a moot subject writing about a company that went bankrupt… But I feel it’s fair to bear witness to Haggens for the amount of time they did serve our community. And with that being said, Haggen was just a dying breath of sad air for about 3 and a half minutes. Everyone was nice as can be, but I’m thinking it was because they were all so nervous about their jobs. I have to say Haggens creeping into the community and temporarily providing employment for the kids in the neighborhood, was very short lived. They had a huge blow out sale with the rest of their products prior to closing their doors, but also really jacked up the prices so as not to give up too much margins… #Fail #NotaBargain So all in all, thank the Universe, Haggens is gone, Gone Girl, gone. ;)

Ding dong this witch of a store is dead(almost). I will fondly remember all those times I bought a $ 5 small container of berries here, only to find fuzzy mold hidden in the middle. And who can forget the packaged bacon that turned moldy after just a couple days? Not to mention the nearly $ 6 loaves of oroweat bread with the little closure tags dated that same day? I will be forever grateful to Haggen for making me realize that the Whole Foods across the street is actually a pretty good value for really fresh, healthy, thoughtfully chosen, and usually organic, food. And the $ 3-$ 4 berries at Whole Foods last a loooong time, too.

Quite possibly the worst grocery store I’ve ever visited. Lots of reasons why, but I’ll sum up. In addition to the high prices and mediocre merchandise, two recent experiences have put the permanent kaibosh on the Haggen Horror. In a «I have no dinner» pickle, I bought a rotisserie chicken. At home, $ 9 later, I managed to remove a total of 4oz of breast meat. The organic air-chilled chicken boobie that I buy to cook comes in at $ 11 per pound. This dried out commercially produced bird? $ 36 per pound given all she yielded. Last night I went over at about 9:30 pm to pick up some yogurt. No luck. The bread, yogurt, cleaning supplies, canned veg(eww), and several other sections looked they’d been cleaned out in preparation for the zombie apocalypse. Seriously, like when I lived on the East Coast and everyone went on massive grocery raids before a hurricane. I asked the fairly taciturn clerk what was going on and she said that they order but the stock is never shipped. Hmmm, could that be because Haggen doesn’t have the money to pay its suppliers? Surprising really, given how much they charge for their dessicated chickens.

My wife and I were loyal Albertsons customers for most of our grocery shopping, not because they had the greatest stuff but because they had an acceptable selection of your usual grocery items at good prices, had a very good«buy 6 bottle» wine discount program to get you into the store, and their long-term staff was friendly and knew us. So we completely support the repeated comments from recent reviews regarding the changed ownership: nothing much changed except prices got raised significantly and they did away with the wine discount. The few old-time employees that are left comment that the store stays mostly empty and might close. Small wonder! Our first bad experience came literally a few days after Haggen opened under their name: we like thresher shark and their seafood dept. supposedly had it for a good price, so my wife bought a bunch. When we opened the package at home we realized it was NOT thresher shark… in fact whatever it was, it was not even a shark!(I ought to know since I am an oceanographer and have worked with many fish and fishermen). When my wife brought the fish back for a refund, the«manager» was rude and could not possibly have cared less that they don’t even know what kind of fish they are selling under what label. It’s all gone down from there since, and Haggen lost yet another long-term customer.

I looked this store up on Unilocal because we were wondering if other people experience the same bad service that we had. My friend was at meat counter and the lady behind the counter was extremely rude and made her feel like she was being interrupted and hadna bad attitude. Then she went up to the register and the cashier and bagger were having a ongoing conversation, and in Spanish and was extremely slow though there was a line of people waiting. My experience was that I was shocked to see a person at the seafood counter open a small to medium sized bag of shrimp and added it to the shrimp case that you buy per pound. It looked like a bag you would buy from the store in a bag. Makes me wonder about the seafood they may sell as fresh by the pound. The general prices are higher too. I’d hope to see some good things about the store but really reserved about buying certain things there.

First and last time that I will be going there. I called to see if they had a specialty item in the produce department. — they said they did and told me the price. I made a special trip to the store before going to a dinner party. When I got to the store they did not have it. WASTED effort and I was not happy. The store was empty and everything seemed grossly OVERPRICED! I doubt this store will make it.

I stop in here for a few items on my way to work a few mornings every week. Many of the previous clerks are still here, most are friendly, some not so friendly. But today a new clerk and lady bagging groceries were talking away in Spanish, barely looked up, didn’t acknowledge I was there and continued speaking in Spanish the entire time. Horrible customer service from those two!!!

Just had lunch with my friends here in this parking lot where this Haggen store is we wandered over here to see if we can get a gift for our friend. They have a real live full florist hear her name is Karen she is so kind made us some suggestions and she is now making us a beautiful arrangement. WOW! Her customer service is top notch I’ve never seen such a nice outgoing employee it shows she loves what she’s doing! OMG And they deliver she told us that she can deliver arrangement for us but not at this time we wanted to hand-deliver this one to our friend maybe next time Karen! Walking around as were waiting for our arrangement to be made they have the best looking dessert in the bakery department this you need to stop by and see it’s absolutely amazing they gave me a sample of double chocolate layered cake delightful. They even have a salad bar a fresh salad bar with all the goodies. Okay I have to go my arrangements done I hope you like the picture we are so satisfied so happy with the arrangement Karen made us it’s so cute it’s look like a little birthday present! Thank you so much Karen I wish I lived out here so I can come by flowers every day

I was thrilled to find rhubarb. Both Vons and Sprouts don’t carry rhubarb. I talked to the produce managers at both stores and they said something like«not enough demand». Well, I’m sorry, but they sell plenty of strange stuff and rhubarb is a classic produce item. So, just having that made me feel pretty good about this store. Found other good things. The only complaint I have is that their organic milk is ridiculously priced. They don’t have a store brand cheaper organic milk, just the expensive ones. So, I’ll still need to go to Trader Joes or Vons to get milk. Ice cream was very expensive also. But overall, I enjoyed shopping there and found some new things so I’m happy for now.

Tried their organic chicken fryer. Better than the über expensive Whole Foods free range brands. Absolutely Fantastic. If the rest of their items are of this high quality, I am sold.

I have a tend to disagree with the people who have no noticed the upgrade in the meat, deli, and produce ßections. We have also found this store less expensive the Ralph’s am Nd Vons please take a second look at the heart of the store.

Haggen’s seems to be in a pickle. They moved into the old Albertson’s location, and really didn’t change anything except upping the prices and somewhat upgrading the products. The problem for them is that people looking for their type of product already have Sprouts, Whole Foods, and Trader Joe’s. We all shopped at Albertson’s for very good prices on general grocery items. Personally, I’ll now shop at VONS for my general grocery items and Sprouts(great prices on produce) and Whole Foods(specialty items in a lovely shopping environment). My guess is that a high priced Albertson’s just isn’t going to make it.

Used to come to Albertsons at least daily Now never come here. Same stuff, way more expensive. Nothing changed except the prices. A glass jar of pasta sauce? $ 11.50 for example If I wanted to get ripped off, we already had whole foods across the street

More expensive than Ralph’s for name brand products. Very few Organic products and the quality of produce looked inferior to other competitive stores. Same poor staff that was Albertson’s. Cannot compare to Whole Foods and is no cheaper. I have no idea what they offer that cannot be bought cheaper, better quality, or with more congenial staff at competitive markets. Cannot imagine why I would go back there.

Won’t be back and I was so excited to have Albertson’s replaced. I was starving and walked in today to check out the store, get a couple of items and grab lunch. The deli counter had a nice pick your own salad combo that came with a drink. Guess what? Only drink offered was Soda! I don’t drink soda and couldn’t get a price reduction or even a bottle of store brand water. It was soda or purchase something else. I mentioned this to the deli manager but apparently corporate does not give their staff any decision making latitude.

I have been shopping at this Albertsons for years. It’s not fancy but it is always reliable. I went in on Tuesday to discover it is now a Haggen Food store. It looks basically the same(they removed some of the old beige linoleum and replaced it with fake wood linoleum, but otherwise it’s the same). The produce area looked pretty good and offered a nice selection. But the rest of the store is way overpriced! This is not the store that you’ll run into to grab paper towels or a box of cereal. I hope that they bring the prices down to be more competitive, otherwise I’ll have to go one exit up to the Vons on Lomas!
