I have been training with Abe for a few years. Abe gets to know his clients and designs his workout/​bootcamp to challenge each individual. I saw the reviews from a few individuals suggesting that Abe was dishonest and unreliable. In my experience, he could not be more the opposite. Abe always makes his commitments when we have a session scheduled. The only time he has rescheduled is when he was sick (which might have happened twice). He keeps a ledger of payments vs workouts and has always been spot on with what I have paid. The most admirable thing about Abe is his character and humble nature. Not only to you get a kick butt workout, but he is a pleasure to spend time with and someone I look forward to seeing each workout. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to up their game!

I have been training with Abe Fuentes for almost 3 years. He is very knowlegeable in the profession and cares about the specific results that are discussed. He is a very professional, ethical and polite individual. Very conscious of avoiding injuries and excellent at mixing it up so that things don’t become routine. Although, i must say that he has taken it easy on me lately with Legs since i never really look forward to leg days! My personal experience has been excellent and i am very happy with the results that i have achieved while training with Abe. I consider him one of the very few «Normal» trainers out there! He actually has a personality and is a family man that loves his family and pets and is not obsessed with gym time ²⁴⁄₇. His dietary advice and knowledge is also very effective when combined with his nutrition programs. I strongly recommend him. As far as a couple of reviews that i have read relating to paying him in advance and some challenges, i can say that over the past 3 years that is exactly how i have paid him. Sometimes up to 40 sessions. He is great at keeping a ledger and bringing it to each session. He obtains a signature for each session and you always know where you stand. Are there cancellations? Yes, there are but life does bring about unexpected events… He has NEVER not responded to my messages, texts or inquiries. No one is perfect, but in the world of personal trainers, i find him to be one of the most ethical and committed individuals out there.

This review is, also, about their trainer Abe Fuentes, not Hot Shotz Sports Center. Be warned that he is unreliable and doesn’t uphold his agreements. If he is not an «employee» of the sports center and offers personal training as a consultant or contractor, beware. If payment for his services are paid directly to the sports center you may be safe. I would not pay him any money in advance for workouts (e.g. pay in advance for sessions of 10 or 20).
I worked with Abe the early part of this year. He is definitely knowledgable and is a skilled physical trainer, however… he is very unreliable and does not uphold his agreements/​commitments. He requires payments in advance and in cash. His rates are reasonable but when he cancels on you week to week, doesn’t return phone calls to reschedule, and just vanishes with $ 250 in workouts he still owes you he becomes disreputable at that point. Not only that, for folks who have serious weight loss and health improvement goals it becomes very disappointing to have your personal trainer abandon you — particularly within the first few months of your program.

I started going here for bootcamp with Abe after a Groupon. What a great workout! No muscle group is left neglected and the workout is tailored to your abilities. I hadn’t been to a bootcamp and was a little nervous, but Abe is fantastic. He always asks how you’re feeling and makes sure your form is right. Can’t speak for the rest of the facilities since I haven’t tried them, but the bootcamp rocks!

I’m writing to warn everyone about one of the trainers at Hot Shotz Sports Center — Abe Fuentes — although I cannot speak for the Hot Shotz facility as a while. About two years ago, Abe was giving a group of ladies boot camp training sessions at a neighborhood on the north side of San Diego. He asked that we pay for 10 sessions in advance at $ 10 per session. After 5 sessions, Abe claimed that his car was in an accident and not driveable. We tried to be patient and work around his schedule, but he could not continue the sessions. When I contacted Abe for a refund of the $ 50 he owed me, he gave me some bull crap excuse about why he could not reimburse me the $ 50 and I never heard from him again. Then, lo and behold, 2 weeks ago a LivingSocial deal pops up for boot camp sessions with Abe at Hot Shotz Sports Center. I’m warning all of you that Abe could potentially discontinue your boot camp sessions without reimbursing your money. Be careful and think twice before paying him anything.
