Big fan of this place. Their ribs are fantastic and the white and vinegar BBQ sauces are very tasty. The fried okra is a perfect go to side. Sweet Tea was great and they gave free refills. The food always comes out quickly whether its carry out or dine in. Watch out for the Pies, they’ll get ya! The servers are very friendly and always greet with a smile. Will be returning during my stay in Demopolis.

This was my first visit and I am really glad we decided to try it! Super friendly staff and plenty of seating inside. They do offer daily specials — and they do also offer set lunch specials for a fixed price. We decided on pork sandwiches, fries, green beans, collards, fried okra, corn bread and two UNSWEET teas(free refills). We were really happy with our lunch selections! I have to admit, the green beans were the best I have almost ever hAd! The fried okra had just enough batter and crunch — yum. The fries were very good and the pork sandwiches… yum!!! The BBQ sauce may not be for everyone but both of us enjoyed it(sweeter but peppery). Neither one of us dumped tons of it on our sandwich. The service was good and very friendly. I know that I will absolutely return when I am back in town! Seriously, I am still thinking about those green beans!!! :)

A-OK is just about a correct rating. I do want to go back and sample their BBQ next time I am in the area. I ordered from the daily meat &2 Lunch offerings today. I took the advice of my server. She was sweet, bubbly and engaging a nice lady. She suggested I have the chicken with dressing. So, that is what I had. The chicken itself was very very good, baked with some kind of light gravy or sauce that was pretty dang tasty. The dressing however, was a totally different matter, it was nothing more than crumbled cornbread with a little bit of the sauce from the chicken mixed in. Now, I am a guy who LOVES some good dressing(The BEST is the dressing that I make) and so this was a disappointing part of my lunch experience. The sides(Lima Beans and squash) were both good. I will most certainly come back, just not for their dressing.

The ribs here are excellent, as is the barbecue sauce. Being from North Carolina, I’ll admit to being a total«Q» snob. The service was friendly and welcoming with our young waitress offering us iced teas to go, when we left. My chopped barbecue was tasty but was chopped to a finer, fluffier consistency than I’m used to. The biggest disappointment were the sides. I ordered baked beans and potato salad. The waitress could not tell us whether they were made in house or not but I’m guessing they came straight out of a big industrial container. I’m always so disappointed when a restaurant does a good job with barbecue or smoked meats only to lazy out on the sides and offer up something that tastes like it was carried across the parking lot from the Walmart deli. Bonus points though for offering nicely buttery crunchy grilled Texas toast.

Pretty decent Q, ribs were good but puled pork was more shredded then pulled. Maybe thats how they do pulled in Alabama. Sauces were good, ask for the white sauce if you have never tried any. Collard greens were the best I have had in a long time. Not Pitmasters perfect, but a good value for the $. I would eat here again.

If you’re driving through Alabama on Highway 80, this is a good choice. The hospitality and the sauce variety is what pushes this joint to 4 stars. The interior is non-ironic old timey hunter kitsch, says the Yankee. The food is solid three star BBQ — good enough but not transcendent in any way. The sauce collection includes a White BBQ sauce, which I haven’t seen too many places around the country. We ate on the way to Selma and my son Jack left this coat there. We called and when we went to pick it up, they even threw in a free sweet tea. For no reason! That’s hospitality.

I had better expectations for this place actually. The service was very friendly and the food was not bad at all. But the little«critter» running across the next table after those diners finished their meal ruined it for me. If they have bugs in the dining room, imagine the kitchen. Sorry Jack but this is a deal killer for me…

Driving through Demopolis, we decided to stop here since Guthries has closed, and the place that replaced it is opened about 3 days out of the week. Anyway, they were very friendly when we walked in. Service was prompt and excellent. My wife and I ordered the catfish, with okra and the kids ordered chicken fingers with onion rings. All of the food was good, fried to perfection and very fresh. And the sweet tea was very good. Worth a try!

good home cooked food. Unusual bbq sauce, kind of peppery, but good!

Well, it was a disappointing bbq experience. We got there about 6 p.m. on a Saturday night to find that there were no ribs available. None would be ready until 7 p.m. I also heard a waitress tell another table that they had no french fries and had been out of them all week. This is with a WalMart Super Store literally in their backyard, OK, we all ordered chopped pork plates instead. I had coleslaw and baked beans for my sides. The pork was, at best, average and chopped too fine – almost shredded. The cole slaw was OK, not great. The baked beans were right out of a can. The sauces were good, especially the white sauce. Service was average, but we had to flag down a waitress to get a check for the meal. It was not a great meal experience overall. I don’t believe we would go there again.

Great ribs, great sauces, and a welcome atmosphere. The yellow and white sauces rock. Try them all!
