Two stars because it was alright, but I wouldn’t choose to spend my money on it again. Cool concept, great location, but disappointing :-(I uploaded three pictures with ratings of each.

I’ll add another star on my 2nd visit. I ordered the same thing again and I have to say it was much better the 2nd time. Still wish it had that crispy cheese!

I really like this place. The staff is friendly, the food is great; nothing like a pile of mac & cheese to satisfy your craving for fats and carbs. But, I worry about it. Last time I was there, on May 1, most of the drink options on the fountain were out of order, and there was a warning of a possible long delay because of a party or young women who came in and ordered about one of everything. The delay did not happen, and the manager on duty comped me a brownie before bringing me my food, so it was A-OK. I wonder about the branding change that occurred not long after this place opened. Some of the old signage, and some of the crew shirts still have the old name and logo. Just what is the story on that?

I had a craving for mac and cheese, so we decided to give this place a shot. When asked jokingly what preparations were«good», the employee responds with«everything». Gee, thanks. $ 20 for two small skillets and drinks is a little on the high side, but that could be overlooked if it’s tasty. However, my «dish» consisted of plain hamburger meat, pungent slices from the outer rind of the onion, and thousand island dressing. In reality, the last hamburger helper meal I had several years ago was no different. My girlfriend’s meal from the light menu had squishy, tofu-like goat cheese; scorched, bitter spinach and a few pieces of tomato. A pasta lean cuisine was more satisfying.

I REALLY want to like this place. I’ve been here many times, both to eat in the restaurant and to pick up to-go orders. I’ve liked all the different kinds of mac I’ve tried, and it’s good for when I’m craving some comfort food. The problems I’ve had here all have to do with the service and I keep giving it more chances because I like the food. When the place first opened I attributed it to the staff not being experienced yet and still working out kinks. Then it seemed like it started to get better. But the last time I went(last week), it was bad again. I don’t know if I want to give them any more chances. To name a few problems with the service: –The first time I ate here, there were 2 cashiers. My husband and I were waiting behind another couple to order. When the other couple finished and walked away, the cashier taking care of them just stood there, didn’t look at us or say anything to us to indicate we could order. Finally she looked up at us, but just stared. No greeting, no «What can I get you?», just a stare. We went ahead and started ordering, when the other cashier(who was on the phone taking a to-go order) interrupted to ask our cashier a question. And our cashier ignored us to answer it! I was kind of shocked but like I said, I thought maybe they were still figuring things out since it was a new place. –The same time as above, I went to get a fountain drink and they were out of the one I wanted. Not a big deal, I got something else, but I told one of the employees who was clearing tables that it was out. He said thanks, but nobody ever changed it. Again this wasn’t a big deal, but I would think that during regular dinner hours they could change a soda syrup or at least put a sign on it if they didn’t have any syrup. –Another time, I came in to pick up a to-go order I had called in. I walked inside and stood at the register waiting since there were no employees around. A cashier started walking out of the kitchen(the door is right behind the registers) and was having a conversation with someone inside the kitchen. Instead of seeing a customer walk in, stopping the conversation and attending to the customer, he looked at me, then looked back in the kitchen and continued his conversation for another 30 seconds to a minute as he stood with the kitchen door open. When he was done talking he walked over to me and acted like what he did was perfectly normal. After that everything was fine, I got my food and left, but I was just stunned that I was blatantly ignored for so long. –The most recent time I went here was after the change from Mac Daddy’s to All About Mac. My husband decided to order and pay online and I went in to pick it up on my way home from work. He placed the order about an hour before I would be there to pick it up, since online there is an option to write in the time you want the food ready. When I went inside and told the employee I had a to-go order to pick up, she looked at the register and said there were no orders listed. I called my husband to see what he wanted so I could go ahead and order it again, but he told me that he had paid online and didn’t want to be charged again. When I told the cashier this, she told me that she had seen an online order come in but that something was wrong and it didn’t show what was actually ordered, only the amount charged. She had canceled the order so it wouldn’t charge us. So instead of calling the phone number on the order to find out what we wanted, she decided that it was a better idea to just cancel it and wait for me to come in. So I had to re-order and wait there for the food to be made, when it was supposed to be a quick stop to pick up the food. Oh and while I was ordering the food, I was interrupted so she could answer a phone call. I should have just walked out at that point. TLDR: I like the food, but the service is terrible. I’ve been interrupted and ignored multiple times, and the employees apparently don’t understand common courtesy or basic logic. I have given this place way too many chances.

Went for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I had no idea what to expect, and was overwhelmed at the huge variety of options. I landed on the buffalo chicken mac, and had NO regrets! I actually got the snack portion and only ate about half. The mac and cheese itself was pretty standard(velveeta/cheddar flavor w/elbow noodles), so the special buffalo sauce, chicken & blue cheese really cranked it up a notch. I’ll definitely be going back and trying other varieties.

What a waste of time. Don’t even bother. The concept of this restaurant is really cool, but the execution is terrible. The point of concept restaurants is to do your speciality well, but this is the worst mac and cheese I’ve ever had. If mac and cheese is the only thing you’re going to do at least try to use halfway decent ingredients, that means real cheese, not the watered down tasteless sauce they use here. I had the pulled pork mac and cheese; the pork tasted like the packets you can microwave at home and then they poured this awful BBQ sauce over it. For the amount of money I paid(Almost $ 10, for mac and cheese!) I was expecting a lot more. I say don’t waste your time and take the money you saved to buy the 99 cent Great Value mac and cheese and some decent smoked sausage at Walmart and you will have a much better meal.

MacDaddy’s is a concept restaurant. The concept is Mac and Cheese and that is pretty much it. They do have over 25 versions of Mac and Cheese so this isn’t the Mac and Cheese you grew up on. This is the adult version. No worries. Kids can read my review. My brother, father and I came over here for lunch the other day. Wanted something different so my brother suggested this as he had been here once before. I know we have a mac and cheese place back in Portland where I live so these types of places that specialize in one thing are popping up around the country. I had the snack version of the Mac Cuban($ 7). The snack version is a nice size portion if you are hungry, but not super hungry. They have a middle size that feeds 1 – 2 people and a large that feeds 2 – 3 I believe. Anyway, back to the Cuban. Roasted pulled pork, black forest ham & pepperjack, topped with dill pickle & spicy mustard. A Cuban sandwich with macaroni instead of bread. Very tasty. Not a bad place. If you like mac and cheese(who doesn’t?) this might be worth a try. Should do fairly well as it is basically on the campus of the University of North Texas.

Took my mac n cheese loving 14 year old for his birthday. We were there on a Sunday night so parking and service were a snap! the staff was friendly and really accommodating. We ordered the Monte Christo the regular and the Buffalo Chicken. All were wonderful! We had plenty to eat and plenty to take home. This is not your blue box man n cheese! It was so much more. So sad they aren’t closer, as this would quickly become a family favorite!!! Great Job!!!

I’m not sure if the other reviewers attended the same place that I did because I had a totally different experience than what most of the reviewers state. In fact, even the filtered reviews are more accurate. The food was simply delicious. The sauce was just right – perfectly rich and creamy cheesy goodness! The pasta was cooked just perfectly and the additional toppings tasted great. True, for mac n cheese it does SEEM a bit pricey, but for what you get, I think the price is fair. The staff was very friendly and attentive, the place was clean, and our order was correct. What more could you ask for?

I enjoyed the flavor that came from cooking the mac.n.cheese in a cast-iron skillet. I ordered the vegetarian dish, and my husband ordered the chili cheese dish-we were both surprised by how yummy they were. I can see us eating there once in a while.

I think MacDaddys is great! I’ve tried the Mac Donna Marie, the Mac Buffalo Chicken, Cracker Oni, Mac Lobster, Mac Gumbo, and Mac Daddy. They were all so good! I want to try everything on the menu!

I went to MacDaddy’s with high expectations. I love Mac & Cheese, especially with hot dogs. I decided to get the Pulled Pork Mac & Cheese. It was good, I’d say a «6» on a scale of 1 to 10. My father-in-law had the Philly Cheesesteak Mac & Cheese, and I enjoyed his more than mine. I had a small portion, and it was more than enough for one person. If you aren’t super hungry, get a small and split it with someone. Or, take it home for later. :) The staff at MacDaddy’s is great! Very friendly and always made sure we had what we needed. We had a large party(of 8) and they quickly helped us move tables to accommodate our group. Parking is tight because of the location, but we went Friday night, too. The parking meters were free after 3pm.

I think they have definitely improved their business since the first swarm of reviews here on Unilocal. We decided to go for lunch and I was kind of worried after reading so many 1 and 2 star reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised! It was delicious! They have so many options so I’ve only tried a few so far, but all were pretty good! My two favorites were Yard Bird with pepper jack cheese and the Spinach/Garlic one, can’t recall the name. They were so good! Not too saucy, definitely had tons of flavor. So I’d disregard all reviews that are in September and go try it out! They’ve definitely made lots of improvements and are a new favorite of mine!

Most all of us grew up on the Blue Box macaroni and cheese. It is some of our favorite memories. Comfort food just makes you feel at home and mac and cheese was usually at the center of it. So, when a concept restaurant opens up featuring only macaroni and cheese on the menu, it triggers certain spots in your brain. I know of macaroni and cheese places in NYC and even a peanut butter and jelly place as well. But I had never been to one here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. First off, they couldn’t have picked a better location, right on Fry Street across the street from UNT. Plenty of foot traffic, bars across the street and reasonable prices, depending on the type of mac and cheese you plan on getting. And there are many to choose from. I decided to take one of the newest experts on mac and cheese, my four year old daughter. She’s become quite the aficionado when it comes to this dish. She had the Mac USA, tradional mac and cheese with panko bread crumbs on top and I had the Mac Pulled pork, which had 12 hour roast pulled pork, blue cheese crumbles and Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce. Other great options are the Mac Lobster with Maine lobster in the mix, the Mac Monte Cristo, with Black Forest ham and Smoked Gouda or the Mac French Onion with Gruyère, caramalized onions and bacon. There are over 25 different options and it took me some time to decide. You have three size skillets to choose from. The Snack((for 1), the Mac(for 1 – 2) or the Mac Daddy(for 3 – 4). The food was great. The macaroni was al dente and firm and the cheese sauce was creamy. The bread crumbs added a nice texture and for mine the pork and bbq sauce worked really well together. My daughter kept stealing pieces of pork from me, so it must have been good. I had the opportunity to even speak to the owner of this franchise, Mike. Very friendly guy and I found out MacDaddys has only been open for five weeks. So the place is still working out the kinks and adapting to the area, So, if some of these earlier reviews, were making you a bit nervous, don’t worry so much it’s gotten better. Both me and my daughter are picky. They have limited drinks for someone who doesn’t drink soda, but they will be adding lemonade, they will be displaying local artwork, if you enjoy that sort of thing and Mike was open to suggestions on how to make the restaurant even better. I did think of one… pertaining to the Mac Pulled Pork(which I enjoyed) 12 hour roast pork, homemade cheese sauce, so why a store bought bbq sauce on top? Why not make it yourself? Heck we are in Texas, we are one of the kings of BBQ, so it just would seem natural to have that made in-house as well. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Especially when you have both your hands full. And we went at the perfect time so it wasn’t crowded, and you can’t beat it when it’s a beautiful evening out too. The space itself is more on the modern side with garage door windows that were open to the outside and a small patio area to eat outside if you want to. UNT and TWU banners about and the TVs were on ESPN. Overall, a great experience and we will be returning soon. Thanks Mike. Enjoy

The place itself looks very nice and the staff was very friendly, hence the two. The food on the other hand, tasted like dump. I went with 5 friends, and all but 1 of us ordered mac n cheese variants. All of them were basically boiled elbow noodles with skim milk poured over the top, sparsely sprinkled with some other crappy ingredients. My husband ordered a chicken Caesar salad. Not only did he get his food 15 minutes after the rest of us because they were«cooking the chicken», it was a very bland salad. Let me explain«cooking the chicken». The crap meat that they served my husband and me was boiled, frozen«chicken». I guess what the meant to say was«someone forgot to chop the lettuce today so we are gonna make something up so you don’t think we use frozen chicken». Nice try. I really wanted this place to be good. I was expecting a rich Mac n cheese with fresh ingredients, and at least a decent amount of cheese, which is important as Mac n CHEESE is the only thing they serve. What I got was a big pile of dump with some milk poured over the top. So to the manager/owner: If you want this place to succeed, which it could, a couple of things need to change. More cheese, fresh ingredients, real meat that’s fresh off the grill, and more of everything but the noodles. Dentonites are foodies, and if we are gonna pay $ 13 for some Mac n cheese, it better be the best Mac n cheese we have ever tasted. Quite frankly the $ 1 Kraft you buy at the store would’ve been better. Good luck, trust fund hipsters and drunk bar crowds will only keep you afloat for a good six months if you don’t improve the quality of your food…

Agreed with Zachary K… nothing special. I had such high hopes! I got in on a work sampler with the following: mac usa, mac philly cheese steak, mac popeye, mac vegetarian, and mac caprese. The philly cheese steak was by far the best, but that was due soley to the rich taste of the sauteed mushrooms and onions. Even the plain ol’ mac usa, which you’d assume they have mastered, was bland. The cheese sauce was kind of watery without much flavor. I didn’t personally pick up the to go order, but the person who did said they were ridiculously swamped and she had to wait over an hour, despite her call in and quoted pick up time. She said the servers were franticly turning people away and telling them they ran out of an ingredient… CHEESE. Really?! The pricing is ridiculously high– the«large» skillet we got for over 20 bones wouldn’t feed more than 2 hungry adults. I’ll just doctor up my own mac’n’cheese at home for a lot more flavor and a lot less money.

Meh, Meh, Meh…13 dollars for some elbow noodles and cheese? Where was the LOBSTER I ordered? When someone orders Lobster Mac they want to see Lobster, doesn’t matter if its all mixed in there or whatever, there needs to be at least a couple of fleshy chunks. I felt like that was the worst 13 dollars I’ve ever spent in my life. Cool concept, but I wont be back.
