Cute little tea shop off N Locust with a pretty cool atmosphere. My first visit here was a little disappointing — the girl working wasn’t too friendly and when I told her it was my first time there, she didn’t put in an effort to explain what all they had to offer. I had to ask a few questions before she showed me any teas. I settled on a hot Chai Black tea (don’t remember the specific name) and it was definitely delicious! So, I decided to come back a few weeks later. Second visit was much friendlier. I’m assuming it was (possibly) one of the owners working and she was very helpful. They only had about 5 different teas left in store as they were in a transition of becoming just a retail shop. Again, I don’t remember the specific name of the tea, but I tried an iced green tea with honey that was also very delicious.
Sad day, though… from what the lady told me, they are no longer going to be making drinks in store (after May, I believe is what she said) — they will simply be a tea retail store and only carry the loose leaf for you to purchase & make at home. I was sad to hear that, especially since I only had the chance to visit twice. I hope they do offer many more loose leaf options to purchase and prices stay reasonable. Not sure if they have opened back up yet, but I will visit again once they do.

Great place and amazing sevice. The server there is so kind and nice and very helpful. Ive seen him helping people and serving custumers with an open heart even though some of them were not coming to buy anything. The teas are tasty. For sure coming back to try some more!

First time being there and I don’t know much about tea. The guy working helped me chose what to get and build a drink that I would enjoy based on what I was wanting at that moment. The tea was really good and refreshing and had enough caffeine to keep me up for a little while.

Great place to study if you’re tired of the hustle and bustle of coffee shops. Upon entering Amitea you’re greeted by the barista who will guide you through their plentiful tea options till you find the perfect drink for you.
I told the barista that I usually drink green tea at home and he recommended the traditional green tea or the jasmine green tea (he let me smell both teas). After I took a wiff of the Jasmine I was all on board and ordered a medium jasmine green tea over ice sweetened with honey. The tea itself was very refreshing, it was a bit weak for my taste so I’ll probably ask for it to be steeped a little longer next time (they brew their teas fresh after you order).
The barista was very kind and super knowledgable and you could tell he had a real passion for teas. He even let me sample the chicory teachino which I really enjoyed and will probably order next time. Their teachino option (s) is written on a small dry erase board to the right of the register.
There’s only a few tables inside the actual building but they do have a patio and strong wifi (password is their phone number). Everything is clean and restrooms are located in the rear of the building. If you’re looking for a quiet place with bright lights, strong wifi and good tea look no farther!

3 stars because the place is cute and quaint. 3 stars because they were out of tea, and did not know the teas that were in stock. Possibly bumped down to 2 because the employees were not certain what customer service means. And it seems they filter their reviews with $$$

Was greeted with blank stares until I finally said «uh, can we get tea here». The young girl sadly seemed to have no idea what she was doing, or anything about the tea they had.
As I aimlessly flipped through a menu of teas, with no help from the worker, she then informed us they were out of most of the teas they normally have.
We asked about green teas they had, she said she couldn’t pronounce them and instead showed us the label of the tea so we could read it for ourselves.
Also they didn’t have lemon.

Quite disappointed.

First of all — great tea — carefully made, loads of choices, just a great product.
Second — really nice people run this place, nice without pandering, attentive and prompt.
Last — this is a great local option for gifts, they have a bunch of cool tea products or you can just buy a tin of delicious tea.
tip — ask to sniff the can if you’re deciding between various choices.

Cool local small tea shop. Nice selection of fresh loose leaf teas/​herbs and drink concoctions to please everyone, including a tea snob like me. Prices are reasonable. The owner is super friendly and down to earth. Free Wifi and a nice outdoor seating area.

We walked in to this small shop and felt a bit like we were intruding on the conversation of the guests taking up the only small seating area. It’s weird to walk in the door and things get hushed. Anyway, the girls working behind the counter were very kind and took our orders. DH ordered the fired black tea (I think that’s right lol) and I ordered an iced chai latte. DH liked the tobacco notes in his tea and I really enjoyed all the intricate flavors of the chai in mine. Will definitely come back if I’m ever in the area again and need a refreshing drink.

Friendly people who are very knowledgable about tea! I recommend going. They offer a large list it would be hard for you to not find something you don’t like.

I love this place! Great teas and service! Love the teacchinos and many different flavors of teas. They are very kind about letting you sample/​smell the teas before committing to a flavor. Great for the health conscious; they offer dairy-​free alternatives (soy and almond milk), agave, stevia, and honey.

Get your tea fix here! Stopped by during my spring break looking for a cold tea on a sunny day. I’d been passing by for almost a year. The owner, Stacy was friendly and helpful and helped me combine my two favorite flavors into a delicious iced tea. It wasn’t expensive and I will be back to buy some loose leaf!

Super sweet young kids serving hot & cold tea. Super quaint place on my way home daily. Had the apricot teacinno & hot spearmint & gun powder tea.

The owner, Stacy, is an amazing woman! She (and her staff) always go above and beyond to make you feel welcome, decide what to get, and what would be good mixed together or hot/​cold. Amitea is amazing.
They have a large selection of teas and many different products. They are always changing out what they sale (different sweets, and tea related merchandise).
I love the environment, I believe it fits well in with the college town Denton is. It is in between comfortable and «refined». The puzzle floor is unique and is special to the family that owns the business. Stacy shares her story with anyone who will ask.
I will keep going as long as they are open. Honestly it is one thing that comes to mind that will really suck losing if I move out of Denton.

Amitea had an amazing selection of tea and tea accessories. I would have never expected to find such a large collection of loose leaf teas in Denton. The service is very friendly and personal. The menu and décor are very creative.

The iced gunpowder green tea was spectacular. It had a bold and unique flavor, easily surpassing the likes of Starbuck’s boring ol’ Tazo Teas. And it should be superior since it’s freshly brewed loose leaf tea.
I did not like the ambiance however. It has a cutesy vibe as opposed to the refined vibe I would prefer in a high quality tea establishment. What I didn’t like: overly bright (was it flourescent?) lighting, cutesy puzzles on the ground, and the high school students art (although that’s a nice gesture). The location and building are great, but the inside just doesn’t suit my taste.
I’ll definitely return for the excellent product, but not a place I’d like to hang out at.

There is one word to describe Amitea: novel. As Denton’s premier tea shop, Amitea offers teas for all — and yes, I literally mean all. From their signature teaccino to classic hot and iced teas, Amitea offers a perfect fusion of classic blacks to bold flavorful fruit teas.

In addition to freshly brewed teas, Amitea will also sell tea by the ounce. If necessary, you may also purchase all the gear required for brewing your own tea. The Amitea staff is friendly and knowledgable and are willing to educate customers in the art of brewing the perfect cup of tea.
Overall, Amitea is a friendly place where both casual and veteran tea drinkers may converge and enjoy a casual, kind atmosphere full of knowledgable employees and friendly customers. Highly recommended.

The selection of teas made it fun to find a new favorite iced tea, but the prices were a surprise. Normally tea houses are really pricey, but this was less than Starbucks for a much much much better cup of iced tea. The owner was very friendly and helpful at pinpointing what you should try. I was in and out in 6 minutes, and that included the time it took for the tea to steep.

Love Amitea! I am new to the tea world and now obsessed! They are do helpful and friendly! Excited this has come to Denton! JJ my server/​cashier/​tea pro was so great!!!

Luv this place! The owner Stacy is very knowledgeable about the different teas and their health benefits. Try the raspberry teacchino, amazing! Also as a vegetarian I was glad that they offer soy and almond milk options. Check out the floor. It is constructed of different jigsaw puzzles put together by the owner’s friends and family! Pretty cool! There is a very laid back personable vibe here. I will def be back!
