Dave’s Foreign Car Service

Dave’s was recommended to me by J&M Automotive which I had been going to for more than a decade. They don’t do foreign cars especially the Mini. They gave me the service they said that they would do for a very fair price with the respect you would expect from a service company. They kept in contact with me for any questions. Only draw back is without the special diagnostic device they can’t complete a true reading. To purchase this device you have to complete the service for the Mini. Mini Cooper is to specialized.

This is the best, most efficient, fair price, honest garage I have been to in years! I started two years ago and been back twice to get work done and each time it was done like a champ! Their work is top notch and quick. You don’t hear any of your top fav lines like…“ohh, it is taking loger cuz the mechanic is out”,.or «we have to order this ONE part and that is taking a little longer:…Dave’s is a great place to take your car, if it isn’t foreign. …maybe you can beg and plead… loosers!

Best car shop I have ever dealt with, they are honest, real, friendly, and they know what they are doing. I love how passionate they are and how they care for the customers. Everyone is a friend here!

The guys who run this place are so nice. I’m not sure I’ve ever been to a mechanic who was so easy to deal with. I brought my VW Passat in for some routine maintenance, and I was taken care of. I dropped it off in the morning and got a call for some additional service, but there was no pressure.

Dave and his team diagnosed and offered a solution for my 4Runner’s problem that cost far much less than I expected, and was completed in half the time I’d imagined. Less really. A very similar experience as I enjoyed last year.
Dave and his crew are astonishingly honest and skilled. I really can’t say enough about their service and reputation. It’s enough to make you buy another foreign car simply to keep Dave’s as a service option.

Best people I’ve ever felt with in my life. Dave and Steve are extremely honest and knowledgeable. every time I take my VW there they’re quick and if its something small like a tail light out, they’ll change it for free! I recommend this place 100%. I lived in Denton for 3 years and I have gone to Daves for every car issue I’ve ever had and have NEVER had a bad experience. Go to Daves or you’re an idiot.

Dave and Steve will break their backs to make sure you are a satisfied customer. They know we aren’t rich and won’t sell you a pile of services you don’t need. Excellent care at a fair price.

I thought I had major engine issues. My car stalled on 1^st and 2^nd gear and when in idle, the car felt like it was about to die. Feeling like I was going to pay a fortune when I went to pick it up, Dave explained that it was an air intake hose malfunction and that there was no need to charge me. What a relief and what an honest individual. I will now take my cars to Dave’s.

I have been taking my Volkswagen CC to Dave’s for 3 years now all for scheduled maintenance. I can’t begin to express how great it feels doing business with such respectable men. As I go by my maintenance booklet, I asked for a transmission flush on one of my visits. Instead of just taking my money and going about their business, I received a call from them stating my car wasn’t due for this service only on the diesel model. I was overjoyed not just about saving money, but it just proved to me I take my car to the right people. I just picked my car up from them today. When I dropped it off I told them my check engine light was on and when I picked the car up they had a 9-​page report for me to take to VW for repair as my car is still under warranty. It’s just these extra steps Dave’s takes that makes you know you are doing business with the right folks. This is rare to come by these days, but very much appreciated. I love these guys!!!

I have used Dave’s for many vehicles and, without a doubt on a stack of bibles, this place and the work they do are second to none. These vehicles are so complex and a problem could be anywhere. Dave and his staff have taken their time and given me A+++++ service each and every time. I’ve read the negative reviews and it seems like those people are playing «mechanic» when they are probably familiar with much older vehicles. I’ve had Dave tell me to NOT do an upgrade because it was not necessary. I’ve had Dave do things just because it needed to be right and not charge me. Pleased? Yeah, I’ll say!!! If you’re not a mechanic but want to play mechanic, then go someplace else. Then, come back to Dave and get it done right. ‘Nuff said.

These guys are the only place I’d take my VW New Beetle. They don’t try to BS you into things you don’t need, and they work on a job until it’s done.

Dave, Steve and their staff have been doing all the work on my Honda Civic since I bought it. The car’s previous owner told me, «Don’t even think about going anywhere else!» She was right.
They are competent, friendly, careful, reasonably priced and obsessively honest.
A few times I’ve had the «Check engine» light come on. Each time, they’ve checked it out, cleared the light and not charged me. Most shops will ding you for $ 25 or more for that.
My only issues with them are that I didn’t start going there sooner, and that they only work on foreign cars — I’d love to take my wife’s beloved Cherokee there.

The most trust-​worthy guys in town. My family’s been going to Dave’s since before I was born and every car I’ve owned has been worked on there. Steve is always incredibly friendly and helpful. Dave, the owner, still personally works on the cars, answers the phones, and will talk to customers. I love how involved they are in the Denton community, too. Very down-​to-​earth team.
Foreign cars are never a cheap fix, but they make it as affordable as possible and let you know what your options are. They’ve even given me recommendations on easier home remedies to help save money. I’ve never left there feeling swindled (except by the guys who make BMW parts– ha! Damn window regulators). On the rare occasion that Dave’s hasn’t fixed the initial problem I reported, they’re always very accommodating and work diligently until it’s corrected.
I just can’t imagine going anywhere else. Trust these guys with anything I drive.

Extremely fast service. They did a same day fix on my vehicle on short notice and turned it over in under an hour. They were up front about all the costs before doing anything and they are very fair with their pricing. Will be going back if/​when my car needs more work.

This place is great. I took my Volvo in after it failed inspection (check engine light), and Steve was very helpful with pinpointing the problem quickly.
I hate going to repair shops (ladies, you know what I’m talking about), because I always leave feeling ripped off and talked down to, but Steve was super helpful and knowledgeable about the problem, and explained everything to me and my boyfriend. Hopefully my car won’t give me any more problems anytime soon, but since I’ve discovered this place, I won’t be dreading taking it in to have it fixed. :)

My brake light came on in my BMW, so I asked them to fix it. They called me and said they would replace my front brake pads and sensors-​which would fix the problem. So they did that and I paid. The light was still on after they did the repair so I called and asked why. They said they must have just forgotten to turn it off and that I could stop back at any time and it would be a quick little fix. Well, they then called the next day to tell me that it would not be a quick fix and it was probably the back brakes! I took it back in and they said ya, it is the back brakes (although they told me the pads still had 30% left). They ended up putting new pads on the back, at a reduced price. My brakes feel the same now as they did before, there was never an issue about squeeking or bad breaking. I feel ripped off. Dave and Steve are very nice, pleasant people, but I feel taken advantage of.

Dave’s is like having your own personal, professional, specialist. Dave and Steve will tell you EXACTLY what is good or bad, how much the repairs cost prior to ever making the repairs.
They are by far the best repair shop I’ve ever dealt with. We’ve used them for 4 years on a BMW 325i. They know their stuff end to end.

I have used Dave’s for over a decade, on various cars, and I have always gotten complete explanations, detailed estimates, and high quality work without the high pressure to pay for things I don’t need. When I’m stumped as to how to address a car issue I call and always get my questions answered, even if they have nothing to do with car trouble. For example, their help was invaluable when I was trying to decide which one of several used sports cars to buy. They obviously love what they do, and value being of service to people. Mechanics like these are a godsend.

Daves is AWESOME. They don’t try to sell you extra services, they are priced fair and best of all. They try to get your car finished quickly and will give you a ride to a local destination if you need one.
I have used Dave’s on three occasions in the last six months. I have an 01 BMW with 142k miles on it. Dave’s quickly repaired the car each time i brought it in. Price has been fair, less than most other places I have been (Fifth Gear, Krouses) and the quality of work is just as good or better.
Daves is located about three blocks off the square in Denton. If you have to wait on the repairs you can walk to down town and get something to eat or have a few drinks.
If you are looking for quality repairs at a fair price. Dave’s is the place.

When I first bought my VW Golf, I asked a Denton, TX «veteran» (local 10+ years) where the best VW shop was. She said, «Go to Dave’s. Go.»
Dave’s specializes in all foreign auto and they certainly get the job done on my car when I need. They even offered me to use their air pump when needed, as to avoid the hassle of paying $ 0.75 at a gas station.
Dave and Steve run the shop with detail and always turn around my vehicle in 24 hours unless the vehicle obviously needs more attention or parts. The guys are always blunt and honest with me about what’s happening inside my car and how much time and money it will take to repair the vehicle.
