Pep Boys

Great service and they fixed my tire in 25 minutes! In the sign in area the guy was fast and incredibly friendly. He assured me my tire could be fixed and it would be highway safe — he did not try to sell me a tire. In the waiting room the other guy came in to apologize — he said he hadn’t realized I was next when he helped another person (which I hadn’t at all noticed) and I’ve never had that happen in my life. When I said I had my kids for the weekend they put me at the front of the line. I found the entire experience to be above and beyond excellent and, in particular, kind. Never said that about an auto place. Very impressed!

LADIES BEWARE!
I went in for a simple oil change today and the staff was extremely difficult to work with. One person directed me to a desk where I said that another employee told me to talk to him to get an oil change. He just stared and so I asked what I need to do to which he replied «talk to me» the snarky remarks continued from there. Then I was told I had a nail in the tire and it needed a patch so at first I told them to put on the spare but changed my mind within three to five minutes and called them back to have them patch it instead. Upon my return to pick the car up the man said he put on the spare and I asked why? I wanted it patched. Apparently the one nail on the phone turned into four! So he couldn’t patch it. I told him a phone call would’ve been nice but he told me he did what he was supposed to do and continued to argue with me. The only person they listened to was my boyfriend! Unless you’re a fan of poor customer service and misogyny don’t go here!!!

Been coming here for years. Never had an issue with oil changes, State Inspection and the service I received. Yes, I do agree with staffing more mechanics, but the overall service received has exceeded my expectation. Go see Gary and he’ll take care of you!

I have mixed emotions about this place. My husband no longer drives for health reasons, and their retail folks have been wonderful when I needed headlights, brake lights, windshield wipers and other parts for routine DIY work, which they would then install for me in the parking lot for free. The retail staff is friendly and efficient and knowledgeable, and I would recommend them highly. So I decided to take my car in for an oil change, A/​C check and state inspection prior to a road trip. I made an appointment through the website for 3:00 p.m. on June 5 and when I arrived at 2:45 the guy (I think his name is Charles) looked at me and said «We are HOURS behind schedule.» I said «Why?» and he said «A lot of walk-​ins.» I said «What’s the point of making an appointment?» and he actually said «I wish we’d just do away with appointments and make everybody a walk-​in.» I was speechless. He never apologized or acted sympathetic when I said I was getting ready for a long road trip. I made an appointment for the next day at 8:00 a.m., arrived at 7:50 and he made me stand outside in the heat for 10 minutes before opening the door, even though they had the bays open and were putting cars up on the lifts. He never even said «good morning.» He was actually kind of surly – like he wanted to be anyplace but here. He explained that the work would take about two hours. I had brought my computer and planned on working in the waiting room, but the Wifi was so slow it kept kicking me out. I was the only person there, and was not running a lot of applications. I finally told him I was leaving because the Wifi was too weak and he just acted very indifferent and said «We’ll call you.» I had to walk about a half mile to Starbucks. He did call promptly a few minutes after 10:00 to tell me the car was ready. When I walked back in he said they couldn’t do the state inspection because the computer crashed – so I had to go to another place to get my state inspection. I was also disappointed to notice that the free «inspection» of systems was done but there was no real report – there were codes but no key to what those codes meant. The boxes on the envelope with the paperwork were not filled out. What’s the point of an inspection if you can’t read the results? So, like I said, I have mixed emotions. I will continue to come here for retail items, but I think I will return to my locally-​owned Mom & Pop shop for routine maintenance.

I was in a bind and Pep Boys in Denton came through for me. My family and I were about to leave on a 1200 mile round trip vacation, when I noticed how bad my tires were. I know that waiting until the day of leaving before checking the tires was my fault, but the problem was there, I needed new tires and it was 6:00 pm. For those of you who have ever needed tires in a hurry, you learn that most places close right before you call, or if they happen to be open, they do not have your tire size.
I live 60 miles from Denton, but it was on the way, so if they could help us out then we wouldn’t have to cancel our trip. I called, they had the tires we needed and they were open late enough for us to make it there and still have our vacation. Charles Stanley had us ready to go and Brandon Boliver was fast and we were back on the road in no time! I plan on using them for my other vehicles as well!

I’ve come here twice, and now I’m back to fix an oil leak after getting an oil change. It’s not always perfect because they’re under-​staffed in the shop (need more mechanics I think), but DUANE has gone to great lengths to make things right with me when their service was slow or if they were super busy.
Duane immediately put my car in the air and looked it over, turns out it’s power steering leaking somewhere and they’re just gonna charge me a simple half hour of labor to clean it up and find out where it’s really coming from.
The whole shop could move faster with more people, but Duane has been good to me this far.

Don’t bother making an appointment through the Pep Boys website because this doesn’t actually reflect anything. Showed up on time for my appointment for an oil change and was told that it would take at least 3 hours to get my car serviced because they only had one person working today. I asked what the point of having an appointment was and was told that the website doesn’t actually know how many employees they’ll have working or what sort of schedule they can actually follow in the shop.

Don’t waste your time! I have always had good luck with Pep Boys Service in the past but the Denton store is another story. I took my truck in for new breaks, tires and shocks. I made an appointment but they didn’t start until hours later. When they did finally call me and tell me the truck was ready I showed up and they kept me waiting another two hours.
Two month later the breaks are squeaking worse than ever. I again tried to make an appointment but was told I didn’t need one «just come in». I showed up dropped of the truck and was told they would call me in an hour. Four hours later they had not even looked at my truck. But they had waited on customers who were in line behind me. I took my keys and left. Hopefully the Plano location will be more compitant.
This location is poorly run, unprofessional and based on the work I have seen clearly incompetent.
Do yourself and your car a favor and find another service center!

Terrible service department. I made the mistake of taking my vehicle here for tires on 2 occasions as they had promos at the time. Horrendeous wait times both times. The employees are huddled together just chit chatting with a full bay of cars waiting to be worked on. The fat bald service manager has the IQ of an apple as he couldnt wrap his head around why a customer may be frustrated waiting for over 3 hours for a simple service job when there are maybe 1 out of 8 service guys or mechanics working on cars when the bay is full of cars.

We’ve always had good luck with the services of this Pep Boys. Randy always took care of our cars. He’s no longer there I’m told but the new guys seem to be as friendly. I usually end up having a pretty long wait time but there is tv in the wait room and I always bring «work» with me.

This Pep Boys is not very customer friendly. I went in there for an inspection and they informed me that my parking brake doesn’t work any more. When I asked what the problem was and how we can fix it they said they didn’t know and it could be a few different things. They are a full service shop and didn’t offer to look at it (even for a price), they just told me to get it fixed and come back within 15 days. When I went back the next day after getting it fixed elsewhere, the first guy who talked to me was a complete a-​hole to me and my boyfriend. The only good experience was the guy who checked me out. If he had been the one to talk to me the whole time I’m sure this review would be way different. This place needs a serious management, attitude adjustment! (Except for that 1 worker!)
