Starr Studios was originally founded as Starr Custom Paint in San Antonio, Texas in 1977 by Dale Starr and was operated by Dale and his son Sean Starr until Dale’s death in 1994. The studio was reestablished in 2005 in San Francisco by Sean and his wife Kayleigh and was relocated back to Texas in 2012. The studio provides original design and branding as well as sign painting services to businesses in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex and around the world.

The studio’s extensive experience has quickly put them on the short list of companies across the US, including Gap, Sony Music, NBC Television, the 2010 Winter Olympics, Ocean Spray, Pizza Hut and the Mayor’s Office of San Francisco.

The studio is featured in the book and documentary «Sign Painters» by Faythe Levine & Sam Macon and publishes «Traditional Sign Maker Magazine.» Their work has been featured on the Discovery Channel, NBC Television, and The Food Network as well as industry publications such as Digital Output Magazine, Juxtapoz, Artforum, Los Angeles Times, Fort Worth Magazine, This Old House and SignCraft and Signs of the Times Magazines.
