History

Established in 1994.

16th Street Pack & Ship was created in 2005 and fills a critical need in downtown Denver for a reliable pack and ship store with a neighborhood feel. The founders, Ian and Sue McKinlay, bring over 25 years’ experience in the retail and shipping industry and their customers rely on them to deliver outstanding customer service and quality assurance.

This place is understaffed and the young blonde man working today seemed very stressed and aggressive. I just wanted to buy A stamp and after about 15 minutes of waiting I gave up. He wouldn’t assist me and kept seemingly having issues with the shipping order ahead of me.

This was my default mailing and shipping center because it is close to my work. Turns out, they are the best mailing and shipping center I have ever used. Now I will go out of my way to ship from there even if I am not at work. The people that work there are knowledgeable, friendly and you can tell they take pride in their work, which is really hard to find these days. They really understand the stress that comes along with shipping items that are either sentimental or expensive and how the shipper may have a lot banking on the safe delivery of their items. If I could rate them more than 5 stars, I would!

These guys are the best. I’ve depended on them to send a passport securely and quickly in order to apply for a visa and to send some pretty fragile items. I’d trust them with anything. AND they always give you the cheapest option!

This was by far the best shipping experience we have had. We were left with the task of shipping at least 15 – 20 odd shaped boxes back to our corporate office after a big presentation. We dropped off 10 of these boxes to this location and told the team we needed to go back and grab even more. It was their closing time so we thought there was no way to get these out that night. The guys suggested that they could follow us and actually pick the packages up for us and get them out. It was so amazing and a relief. We highly recommend them and their service is upstanding!

These guys are the best. I walk by every day to and from work and needed to ship something. I have usually gone to FedEx Kinko’s downtown for shipping needs, but I always run into the issue of no one to help me choose the right packing materials, so I have to guess. These guys took my items, wrapped them all themselves, selected a box and taped it shut. I’m not used to watching someone do it! However, the pros should do it, and they definitely are. They have my business now… and they have a great selection of greeting cards.

I’m a professional fine artist, and I’ve been trusting 16th Street Mailing and Shipping to package and ship my original oil paintings for the last year. Every single painting has arrived to my clients on time and in perfect condition. In fact my clients always mention to me how well the painting was packaged. Adding 16th St Mailing to my business process had saved me so much time and money, I’m really glad I found them.
The three guys who run the shop, Mike, Drew, and Don, really go out of their way to make sure everything is done right. I literally drop my paintings off at their shop, give them the address, and leave. They do the rest. I even recommend them to the galleries that I work with here in Denver. Great shipping place, you should totally use them. (And BTW, these guys are the new owners for just over a year, no longer Ian and Sue, who got a few bad reviews during their oenership)

I first started to use 16th Street Mailing when I worked downtown as it was easier than the post office. Now… I am simply & completely loyal as I work 7 miles out of downtown and will ALWAYS come here. Ian & Susan are simply lovely to chat with and they always take care of me. AND what a great memory. they always remember. It is also convenient as they save all of your regular addresses in their system so the next time you come in, it is perfectly timely.
Every time I have sent items out of the country, they arrive well packed and taken care of.
For those whom may not have had the positive experience (and I have read some of your comments), you most likely don’t take the time to speak to a human being with respect. Sometimes when you ask stupid questions, you deserve stupid answers!
This place is a «small town» postal feeling in the city… and they are great people.

Customer service is always stellar. The couple that runs the place are pleasant, precise, punctual, and always accommodate your needs. I also happily stand in line here simply to delight in their greeting card section. some of the most clever card selections you could ever come across.

Great location and customer service! At first, it can be a bit tricky to find it from the street, but someone was standing on 16th Street holding a big sign which was helpful. I recently moved to Denver and called before I arrived in town to setup a mail box. The owner, Ian, took my order over the phone and secured a box for me. I just arrived today in Denver and stopped by to sign the paperwork, it has been almost a month since we first spoke and Ian immediately knew who I was and had my paperwork ready and waiting.
The Independence Plaza location adds an element of professionalism for my company’s address, which is a small consulting and photography business. I would highly recommend this place for mail box services. Both Ian and his wife are attentive and friendly.

I’ve worked at this type of store so it was easy for me to weed through the complaints. Unfortunately, by the time most people end up at a private pack&ship, they’ve already sat on the phone with various «customer service» recordings that eventually lead them to having to take their defective products and their scratchy boxes here…
«The return label is in the box» but don’t open the box because then we’re going to charge you for the merchandise…
So. People are usually a little… Upset. And cranky people write cranky reviews.
My experience here has been quite pleasant. The service is as quick as it can be at these places and Sue and Ian are always ready to not only be of assistance, but they are very friendly beyond professionalism. I’m not dealing with robots or low quality phone recordings or disgruntled post office workers. I’m dealing with two very kind and helpful individuals.
I rent a private box at a very reasonable price and my key always works! The selection of packing supplies is great and the prices are exactly what I would expect from a privately owned store. I’m very happy I found this store because having worked at a similar place and having dealt with USPS, I know the value of a smile and personable customer service. What more could I ask for?

I have no idea where these other reviews come from. When I came in, I meandered a bit and was on the phone for a good chunk of time. Ian was patient and when it came time to help me with my shipment he was eager to do so.
We chatted a good bit about shipping and small business in general. I am renting a mailbox for a great rate, it’s downtown, they offer mailing services, and are very helpful. I couldn’t ask for much more, especially after being talked down to by a litany of other professional service business.
The courtesy is refreshing, you’ve got my business!

I’m not sure who the other reviewers were dealing with but the owner, Ian, was super helpful to me. I was there to send my passport off for renewal and he made sure I had everything in there and checked it off for me. He can ship USPS, FedEx, and UPS which is nice when shipping to a PO box since those have to USPS.
I will definitely go back when I need to ship again.

Wow, I should have looked at this page before walking into this place… These two live up to their reputation of being very rude. I’m not mad, I actually found a way better deal at their competitor.
It must stink to work in a public place and hate people. I pity people like this.
