History
Established in 1989.
Carol Mahoney, Maureen’s mom, bought ABC Books and Posters in 1989. Her store sold only a small percentage of custom frames. Previous to that, the location had been custom framing since 1965.
In 2000, Maureen Coleman began managing the store and in 2003 she took over the family business and began making changes. Coleman made the bold move of eliminating the book and poster inventory because of the growth of websites that sold these inexpensively, as well as all low quality, ready-made frames.
Maureen brought ABC back to its roots – exclusively specializing in high quality custom framing, by shaping it into the successful framing boutique it is today.
Meet the Business Owner
Maureen C.
Business Owner
Maureen Coleman, ABC’s owner, is both an Art Lover and a Mother.
What graces Coleman’s walls are female figures and modern art. Original oils, acrylics, and prints from local artists. Among her collection are three prints from a 72-year-old woman who made art out of C++, an old computer programming language. In addition, she has eight modern art paintings that were done by one of her employees.
Coleman boldly believes that «there is an art to living,» and that art is expression. Eye shadow, interior design, parenting, even a signature white sauce can be considered art forms.
Coleman learns from her two children, Maya and Isaiah. «They teach me that nothing is permanent, that everything is changeable, including art.»
Because of her passion for all art forms, along with her natural love of people, Maureen, along with her staff, give extra care in framing the things that you love.
