Accent Garage Doors

Here’s the scoop. I came home from an appointment today about 3 pm. Pull in the garage & close the door. Suddenly the mechanism that pulls the door up & pushes it down totally detached from the door. Damn. Go in the house, hop on Unilocal,and start looking for garage door repair folks. Made a couple of calls, not looking like it’s getting fixed anytime soon. Read the review for Accent. Saw they offer free estimates. Like that. Talked to friend at work who heard good things about them. So I called. Spoke to Jim, and he said I can stop by between 5 & 6 pm today. Woo Hoo. 5:45 pm and Jim pulled up to our garage. Looks at the detachment, and says «I can get it fixed in 5 to 10 minutes. Will $ 40 work?» Heck yeah it will work. Now so does my garage door opener. Spent a little while shooting the breeze with Jim, once he finished. Super nice guy. Did great work, at a terrifically affordable price. I’m a happy boy.

5:45 p.m. — I arrive home after working a long day, picking up the kids and battling traffic to get across town. Just want to make dinner, eat dinner, brush teeth, read books, put the kids to bed, sip a liquor drink, and go to bed. Instead, I proceed to absent mindedly pull into my too-​short garage with my too-​tall car with the Thule box on top. Brilliant.
5:46 p.m. Now, I have to back out of garage with the Thule box wedged between the car and the open garage door. This is excruciating, primarily because I almost immediately start mentally tallying all the ways that this is going to be a pain in the ass (and the wallet) for me.
5:50 p.m. — I consult Unilocal.
5:55 p.m. — I decide to call Accent Garage Doors because of the great reviews, and the fact that this business is in my hood. Jim answers, and I tell him about what a dumbass I am, and ask whether he might have some time in the next few days to come fix my now defunct garage. Jim’s says, «I’ll be there at 7:00 p.m.» I’m like, «woah, really?» Most other garage door places were already closed, but Jim’s gonna swing by in an hour?!? At 7:00 p. m??? Sign me up.
6:45 p.m. — Jim shows up early. He gives me the good news first (I didn’t totally destroy my door/​opener). He diagnoses and shows me the problem. He tells me he can fix it without me having to replace the opener. He does it in 20 minutes, for a reasonable price, with a smile on his face, while my dog is barking like Cujo and my kids are attacking him.
7:05 p.m. — Jim’s all done. He shows me what he replaced, and my garage door is now working better than ever. If only Jim had a Thule box repair shop too.
Bottom line: This is service at its best — a super customer-​service-​oriented, neighborhood business that provides prompt, practical, reasonably-​priced solutions and does good work. I can’t recommend Accent Garage Doors enough.

Jim and his crew did an amazing job for us. We had two single garage doors and wanted to convert to one large door. He was prompt, courteous, did what he said he was going to do, all at a very fair price. I wish more contractors took the pride Jim does in his work. Job well done!

My garage door broke first thing on a saturday morning. After messing with it for an hour, I realized I was in over my head, and after searching Unilocal for reviews, Accent had the best review. So — I called Accent and they scheduled to come by within two hours! In well under an hour they had the door fixed, and working better than it ever had! The tech (I forget his name, unfortunately — he was super friendly and professional) was quick and great. Any business I have maintaining, installing or repairing garage doors, I will be calling Accent again, and I would recommend them to my friends without hesitation.

Jim is great. He was able to come very quickly and help me! I would recommend him to anyone needing their Garage Doors worked on or installed.

Accent Garage Doors is definitely a top notch garage door company! The owner Jim was very responsive to my issue. He replaced my garage door with the specific panel, CHI model 2283 for much less than the competition could install the door for. Jim is very knowledgeable and honest. I got quotes from two other companies for the same exact model door and not only was Jim’s price right, but his attitude and demeanor was the most professional. The other two companies kept trying to justify why I should pay more for their services and Jim was up-​front from the start. The other two companies offered to lower their prices from my original quote and they still couldn’t come close to Accent. After informing Accent that I was ready to move forward, within 24 hours I had a completely new garage door professionally installed! I would without a doubt use them again or refer Accent to any friend or colleague.
