The high level of expertise and training here — including when it comes to nutrition and outdoor adventure — is truly impressive. The culture is great, too — unlike at other places where people don’t know one another or where there’s an «agro» type of competitive attitude, the members are friendly and supportive in a team atmosphere. I’d recommend this for experienced cross-​fitters and athletes as well as newbies.

I started going to Axistence Athletics in 2014. In addition, my son and girlfriend are also members. This «gym» really is different. First of all, their methods work. I am in my 40s but I am in the best shape of my life. I have improved my strength, flexibility, cardio, etc. Garret, Dan, and Ryan used their combined experience and knowledge to build an adaptive program that is truly effective.
But it isn’t just a gym, it is also an educational center. They have hosted classes on nutrition, survival skills, and more. I think they really understand that there is more than lifting weights to being fit.
I also like that it is like a community. They host potlucks, BBQs, and other events for the gym members. And the community is diverse — different ages and physical abilities. We all get along and are supportive of one another. A few times I have seen fellow members finish their workout and then continue along someone pushing to finish their own workout.
I highly recommend giving them a try. Talk to one of the trainers and you will see that this place just feels different from the start.

I’ve been training here for just over a year now and I’ve made huge progress to my fitness goals. I can honestly say this is the strongest I’ve ever been in my entire life. In October of last year I was able to get my very first muscle up! (After less than a year of training here) My dead lift is now almost twice my body weight. The list goes on.
The best part is that I’ve been injury free this whole year, which is unheard of for most CrossFit gyms. I’m so thrilled to find a gym and trainers who take care of their clients and who really help prepare you for whatever Adventures you seek outside the gym.
I recently signed up for their new Transformers program and have seen even more progress with the more individualized attention, nutrition coaching, and extra work out days/​times.
I’ll be a member here for life.

I was a trainer in a past life and recently spent 3 months training with Ryan. I have to say that I was a little hesitant about the «CrossFit» philosophy. I found that Ryan and Dan integrate the strengths of CrossFit into a broader philosophy including natural movement and foundation building. The workouts are fun, varied and sneak up on you. I can’t tell you how many times I thought «this isn’t that bad» until the very end when I was wasted and felt I had just had a killer workout. Axistence is very open, friendly place for people of all fitness levels!!! I would recommend them to anyone!

I am in town with my husband for the weekend and we both decided to check out this crossfit gym close to our hotel. It just happened to be the same evening they were hosting a meetup event to introduce people to MovNat which focuses on natural movement training and it was really interesting. The program seems simple at first (sitting to standing, walking, crawling, balancing, lifting sandbags, precision jumps and different combos) but it is much more difficult than we thought. The skills you pick up in this program can be immediately applicable to outdoor activities like climbing, trekking in the jungle, rafting, etc. We were really impressed by the program and especially the trainers Ryan and Dan who showed a wealth of knowledge, credentials and experience from personal training, crossfit and MovNat certifications as well as paleo diet and living! They were really patient and demonstrated the moves very effectively.
At the end of the workout my husband and I felt sore but energized. It was fun to meet other folks who joined the training as well… a lot of people came for the first time and some took other crossfit programs here before.
I personally liked balancing on the wood beam and the precision jumping the most. Some of the folks who did the combos really well looked awesome and made it look easy!

Discovered this gym while in town visiting family, and I have to say I am impressed. I learned more in the three or four days I spent working out here than I have in all the time I worked with my personal trainer back home. The owners are very knowledgeable in what they are teaching, and provided a very personalized work out for me with invaluable feed back regarding form and posture. I wish I could clone them and take home them with me.
I think they need better signage out front, they can be a little difficult to spot if you don’t know what you’re looking for. Otherwise, the quality of the instruction and the facilities are top notch.

Axistence is owned by two trainers with an immense wealth of knowledge between them. I’ve been working worth one of the two for years, and when he decided to create his own gym it was worth it to follow him to this new location.
The trainers specialize not just in crossfit but also have academic credentials and a love of the outdoors. The gym is very friendly and the other members are always supportive.
I recommend it for anyone looking for group classes that can really kick you butt.

I am 46 years old have put on weight in recent years so about two months ago I decided to give Crossfit a try and joined Axistence Athletics. I imagined large groups of people and very difficult exercises. Frankly, I didn’t expect to last more than a couple of weeks. I could not have been more wrong. We work in groups but everyone gets personal attention and exercises are «modified» to the fitness level of the person. Each achievement is applauded (literally!) and I feel like part of a workout family as opposed to a customer or an ordinary gym member. Both Dan and Ryan are excellent trainers and very well studied in fitness, nutrition, and the human body in general. This is the first gym I have ever belonged to where I felt totally comfortable and great about myself! I highly recommend Axistence Athletics to anyone, no matter what age or size, to start on your way to physical wellbeing.
