Started in upstate New York in 1980, our family opened our first pizza shop in the corner of our farmers market. Before you knew it we were remodeling and cooking our own recipes for everyone to enjoy. Being the youngest of 5 boys, Michael got his start at the early age of 14 and has been cooking ever since. In 1997 he decided he was ready for somewhere new. He moved to Colorado Springs and opened his own pizza shop, Back East Pizza and Subs, on Airport and Murray in Colorado Springs. Having made his pizza shop a huge success the next step was obvious, marrying his love Megan and having his beautiful daughter Abby and twins Reese and Cooper. Together, they furthered the Back East dining experience by opening the Back East Bar in Downtown Denver. We have created the perfect place for you to watch your favorite game and enjoy the incredible food and flavors that we have brought from home. We take pride in knowing our customers and what the want by serving only the best food with the freshest ingredients. We know you will enjoy every minute that you share with us. We went here for a late night drink and appetizer, this place is really laid back but our waiter was friendly. The fried jalapeño with their sauce is AMAZING, their wings are also good! They also had $ 1 beers. Place was good, we went back 2 days later.

Get… The…Philly… So good. In fact, we went there a 2nd time for it on a 3 day trip. Service was great. Bartender was friendly and actually knows what’s on tap. It’s a fun environment during a game. I’ll be back.

Went to watch a football game and eat — servers were very accommodating about switching channels to what we wanted. The nachos were awesome — the rest of the food was ok, nothing to shout about. Overall a pleasant experience but nothing to shout about. They were setting up to play live music that started at 9:00 pm but we didn’t stick around for that — headed back to the hotel to continue enjoying the game in peace.

Came here to watch the Fiesta Bowl and enjoyed the game and the bar. Nice tap line and we had very good service from our waiter Kirk. I had a fresh hop IPA which was amazing and served ice cold. There are pool tables, darts, pinball and overall a nice place to hang and catch a game. The location is also perfect, located right in downtown Denver.

I have to bring the other reviewers at the food leaves a lot to be desired. The service bar scene is fine and I enjoyed my visit. Recommended for the football game I wouldn’t come here for a meal.

The service was great but would not recommend eating here. Our bartender was super friendly and our drinks were delivered quickly. Alas, the food was not very good. My friend had the steak and eggs wrap and I had the Cali chicken sandwich. Both of our sandwiches and fries were LOADED with salt. I’m talking a heart stopping level of sodium. Would recommend for drinks but not so much for food.
After leaving the review I was approached by a member of the kitchen staff who asked me what I was unhappy with. He was very friendly and invited us back to try the food again with a complementary gift card. Great customer service!

I read one review that described this place as «dive-​y.» Perhaps it’s divey by downtown Denver standards; where I come, from this place would be considereed an above average dining establishment. :)
A wide selection of beers (cuz… ya know… it’s downtown Denver). And the pizza was good. I love the space; the tables aren’t right on top of one another.

Came early on a Saturday and the place was empty. Philly cheese steak was pretty great as were the waffle fries. Had some back east bread to start which was basically garlic cheese bread/​pizza. Super thin crust which was arrite.

Not so good…
I wanted to like this place… I came for the game and that was pretty much the highlight of the experience.
Fries we cold and under cooked. Ribs… where do I start? I can’t stand gristley tuff ribs that you have to literally tear off the bone. Wings had a good flavor but kind on the cold side…
Seats were hard… left at halftime. Staff was pretty alright.
I’ll definitely not be back.

This is a great place along the mall. They have a decent beer selection, friendly bartenders, and lots of TVs showing college football on Saturdays. The green chile nachos are awesome and a must try. Check out the skee ball machine to win free beer or other prizes.

Enjoyed the 20 minutes I got to spend here before being whisked away. Definitely had a good layout, great beer selection, and wasn’t too crowded on a Saturday night. If I am back in Denver I will definitely be adding this place to my list.

Ugh, the band was terrible. Like someone strangling a cat miked with karaōke. Late night menu is just the fryer, so don’t expect a thing but fries and onion rings etc.
Left after first drink, as soon as we could cash out… so we stayed for a while.

Don’t bother with this place unless you’re 22 years old and/​or wasted to the point where you don’t care. We came in to Denver really late and walked around trying to find late night food as we were starving. Not much was open after midnight. This place serves a limited late night menu and everything on it is fried and awful. 2 stars because I could get a $ 6 Grey Goose and soda, but that’s it. Terrible band playing loud obnoxious music. My friends ordered food and it looked awful. I sat here starving. Slow service. No thanks!

A lot of my coworkers like to hang out here but I rarely tag along. They’ve got some fun games (darts, a pool table, and a hunting game) and the service industry discount can get me through the door but I never hang out long.
The food is awful. It tastes like something frozen that you would nuke in the microwave for a few minutes, and I’m kind of convinced they do.
The staff is ok. I’ve met some friendly people and some people that were a bit rude. One or two of them can make a good drink though.
I may return, but I probably won’t.

Great place! The views are fantastic and live music to go along. It’s a must visit spot while in downtown Denver. Had a cool server knew his stuff made it a cool experience. Oh, yeah you can shoot some pool while you’re there.

Service was amazing! Truly amazing. Before the first server came back with our drinks we were approached by another just making sure we were taken care of. I appreciated the tag team effort approach to service, whether the table let was theirs or not, everyone was eager to help.
When my wings came I mentioned to my boyfriend that I got more drumsticks than wings (I prefer the wings) and a server overheard and brought we more wings for me without my actually asking.
Food was great too, plenty of beers on tap. Awesome outdoor area overlooking 16th street and games to play. Chill place for a meal, some beers and to just hang out for awhile.
We will definitely be back!
