Very underwhelmed. I expected a much better meal from the Unilocal reviews. The duck was way too salty. The bread pudding was dry and not as good as promised. The décor is nice, but they still need to work out the kinks of service. A pet peeve of mine… bathroom was really dirty. Won’t go back anytime soon.

Not a rating or review, but passing along sad news. The place is closed, apparently not in business, according to a sign inside the main entrance, as of 3⁄20. I don’t recall reading a pointer to another location. Darn! I had sorted prior reviews by Helpful, had read a handful and was looking forward to trying it. (@Yelp: If there’s a better way to report a place seems to be closed forever, please advise.) Good luck, everyone!

The food was pretty good, but the ambiance left something(everything) to be desired. It was also pretty annoying watching the server talk to someone at the bar while we waited with clean plates and empty drinks for the check.

I am always looking for great New Orleans style food after visiting there and immensely enjoying myself to the point of painful bloat(okay, I was also pregnant which caused gastrointestinal discomfort). Specifically, I like to indulge in crawfish étouffée and Big Easy Creole Kitchen provided a much needed reminder of why I love the dish so much. I enjoyed their shrimp and crawfish étouffée without having to add any hot sauce, which even sported a whole crawfish as decoration that could be eaten if I wanted(I did not). My sister and I shared their southern panzanella salad which had the right amount of tang insets and sweetness with cornbread croutons and a mesh of flavors that just complimented each other wonderfully. My sister ate their crab remoulade and said it was really good. it must have been since she finished it! The only thing lacking was their desserts which I found a dismal disappointment. I ordered the banana foster beignets which came with three beignets in a crème anglaise sauce and two small pieces of banana. I was expecting the beignets typically found at café du monde’s but these were heavier and denser. The whole creation fell flat and did not inspire either beignets or bananas foster in my mind. My sister ordered the Saint Charles profiteroles which were supposed to be filled with coconut cream and have chocolate sauce but they lacked hardly any filling, mI wonder if they ran out! Basically, I would recommend anyone eating here to NOT get the desserts, or at least not the ones we had because they were just terrible.

Good Good Good! Great Sazerac’s. Crawfish! Oysters! I smell NoLa… and I love it! This place is the deal, and only made me want to go down south one more time. Just go. We ate good. The end.

Just got back from our first 5280 dinner. Was excited to try the Big Easy. It was a nice atmosphere and the service was great. Husband had the grilled oysters and enjoyed them. I had the gumbo and it was ok, nothing special. For the main course, we both had the shrimp crawfish étouffée. It was not very good. Way too much sauce and had a muddled flavor. We neither one could finish. Will probably try to go back and try some other items. Overall okay just disappointed with the main dish.

Holy smokes this place is great. I went with a group of friends, some of whom were also from Louisiana. Our group ate in the bar and we sampled all kinds of appetizers and entrees. Had a couple Gin Fizzes, without the egg whites, as did many apparently and this was early, like 6pm on last Saturday night, so that was kind of odd. But they are lighter without the egg white anyway. Then switched to Hurricanes(I think there’s moonshine in there), martinis, and ended with Oyster Bay sauvignon blanc. The wine with it all — charbroiled oysters, peel & eat shrimp, bacon hushpuppies, pork-belly sliders, and crab cakes. Gotta head back for the grilled rib-eye next time. Check it out, y’all!

Atmosphere was good. GM was great. Nice Guy. Had the Gumbo and etouffe. Yeah on the first, not so much on the second. Had a bite of my friend’s Po-Boy; can you say, «absolutely»? Will be back.

I was going to dicount the score for my lack of actual culinary knowledge but as I wrote this review I decided to go for it. I went here with my recent ex in a reunion dinner: so the odds were risky for the restaurant. However, the place had great food, careful service, and a wonderful ambiance. As we went in we actually joked how many predecessors in the same space had folded. Several of them were also quite worthy. On to the Big Easy. I had the turtle soup because I’d never had it. It was rich with sherry and an unusual flavor which I assume was the turtle. An acquired taste, perhaps, but worth a try. I followed it with the double pork entrée and though I rarely eat pork due to health requirements, the dish was fantastic. The pork loin was fragrant and tender, the pork belly was the standout. Normally I do NOT like fatty meat but I have to say this dish gave me new respect for George Bush Jr. The pairing of sides and sauces was worthy of mention as all combined almost brilliantly, and at least perfectly. The glasses of wine were bodacious and made the price of our selection justified on all levels. My ex partner had duck two ways(a theme perhaps?) and it was reported as a 5. He had a side of blue corn cakes etc, as listed on the web menu. He loved it. We finished with bread pudding which was in the top two bread puddings that I have had, including at Jame Bead’s place in New York and my daughter’s white chocolate bread pudding with dark chocolate sauce from a Food and Wine recipe. All in all the décor, the service, the food, and hey – even the company – made a fabulous evening. Try it if you want to have a warm delicious and charming background for your conversations.

Had a really great meal here! I recently moved to Denver from the South and have just not found much food out here I like. I had the crab cakes which were very good, my friend had the crawfish and shrimp étouffée, which he devoured, and my husband had the pork special. I love that they have red beans and rice on the menu! They also serve Abita beer and I love the Purple Haze… only place I have been able to find it at so far out here. Staff was friendly as well.

I had high hopes for this place but was very disappointed. On telling our waitress the Gumbo was not very appealing, she shrugged her shoulders and walked away.

We went for Happy Hour and stayed for dinner. $ 2 Abita beers for Happy Hour and reduced drink prices to start with. Apps were also reduced. Are group had a large variety of food. The roasted Oysters were excellent. We had the Gumbo. Red Beans and Rice and the Crawfish Etuffee. They were all good, but were very similar in taste. The sauce base is the same for all three dishes. The Turtle soup that all of the other reviewers mentioned was good. Not outstanding, but good. Service was attentive. The atmosphere was comfortable, fun, and friendly.

Impressed!!! We stopped by for an after dinner drink not knowing what to expect and ended up meeting my new favorite bartender, Brandon. The drink list if full of classic mixes… Sazerac, Gin Fizz, Pimm’s Cup… which are rarities for me, but after hearing everyone at my table rave about them, I had to try a taste. Fantastic, balanced mixes. Brandon has some straight up skills! He’ll even create something unique for you on the fly. The drinks were so good we decided to try a few bites of food. I’ve spent a lot of time in New Orleans so I’m always leery of creole/cajun places outside the South but I’m telling you… the rich, spicy flavors of the crawfish & shrimp étouffée and the cajun fries were enough to convince me this place is legit. I’ve seen many places come and go at this location, so I really hope this place makes it. GO! Go eat, drink and enjoy. I’ll be back for dinner and brunch soon. No doubt.

I had the pleasure of having my birthday lunch at Big Easy Creole Kitchen and I couldn’t have asked for a better dining experience. The food was absolutely delicious and the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff was incredible. I highly recommend this hidden gem. The space is cozy and has a true New Orleans feel to it. The Panzanella salad with cornbread croutons is divine. If you are so inclined, use those calories you banked to sample a warm beignet. So yummy! I also sampled the red beans and rice and étouffée… really everything was tasty with just the right amount of spice. The entire staff made my birthday memorable. Simply Awesome.

We decided to give this place a try based on the menu including the cocktails. The cocktails were great and were very traditional New Orleans. We would go back just for the drinks. The food on the other hand was ok. The turtle soup was good and had a great flavor, but was too thick. The pork was cooked perfectly, but the flavor was just ok and the leek bread pudding just didn’t work with it. The crawfish étouffée was not good. It was like they used the base for the turtle soup and just replaced the turtle with crawfish. It was nothing like a traditional étouffée. We had the banana bread pudding for desert. The bread pudding has the right consistency, but was lacking in flavor and had no sauce or a least no sauce that I would be used to. There was some carmel sauce on the other end of the plate. but carmel sauce DOESNOT go on bread pudding. I think this place has potential, but they need to improve the food in order to make it in their current location. It’s just not there yet.

We tried this place for the first time last night. We heard about the amazing food from friends, but had no idea where the restaurant was. The food was beautiful and delicious. By far, the best crab cakes I have ever had ! The service was amazing and I was extremely impressed with the menu. The chef obviously knows his stuff! I would highly recommend this place, and we will be back soon. If you like New Orleans style food this is a great spot.
