Big O Tires

So my 3 year relationship started with these guys with the simple task of getting a new set of all season tires. They ended up having a much larger role in the life of my car and its owner (me). As you can see, they do full auto maintenance. I have certainly used them for that. They have done repairs such as brake rotors and pads, steering system, replaced my windshield wiper motor arm, wheel bearing and have diagnosed numerous ECU lights. I trust them and this location is conveniently 2 blocks north of where I work which is a major plus.
Connie is generally behind the counter and is knowledgable and friendly. She knows me by name and takes good care of me. Leif is a great mechanic who is knowledgeable as well and happy to help. He knows me as well and makes me feel like a regular and valued customer. He has helped me make sure my Subaru stays in top shape!

Sadly, I’m posting a review that’s negative so I’ll try and keep it short and to the point. I’m not a «car guy» so I really count on the mechanics! I brought my car in yesterday. First thing at 8 am to avoid any possible crowds! They had a 39.95 full point inspection oil change, etc. advertised. and liking that price and the sounds of that service, as well as location, I chose Big O Tires over competitors. Sadly, the service was less than even a below average job. I found myself popping my hood, come to realize all my fluids that were suppose to be «topped off» hadn’t been, no rotation of tires, no nothing. I was really counting on the «full point inspection» so I could have an idea of what I need to do to prepare for the next upcoming seasons. When I asked the gentleman who took my payment he said everything was fine. !! I almost hysterically started laughing. I mean come on, my car is older and has a lot of miles. now I wasn’t looking for someone to nit pick, but to not even give me one thing or something that «could potentially» be a problem and may need some attention is not sitting well with me! I give a one star for «being so quick» to charge my car, but sadly the other four stars will go somewhere else to a place that respects themselves a bit more and at least tries to perform the services they advertise to the fullest. The full point inspection this location advertises sounds real good, just wish I could’ve received it… Oh btw. The check oil light is on… awesome!

I recently got a flat tire and luckily Big O Tires was right by me so I slowly wheeled my way into the parking lot. I knew it was time for all four of my tires to be replaced. I had been putting it off due to financial strain but quickly realized I had to suck it up. The staff at this big O tires location was so friendly and helpful. They helped me find all weather tires with a reasonable price and a three-​year warrantee that was already included in that price. I was going to get an alignment but Juan was very honest with me and informed me that there was no point in getting an alignment because I had some other issues with ball joints and outer tie rods. He said it was of no immediate concern and did not try to push the fixing of these issues on me. I really appreciate the kindness that I witnessed that day and the honesty that was shown!

If I can give this no stars, I would! STAY AWAY FROM THIS SHOP!!!
We bought four new tires from this place 2yrs, and 1 month ago. When they put the tires on, they supposedly did an alignment already and we were told it was fine.
The price included tire rotation but because we still have a package deal from where we bought the car, Ford took care of our rotation and alignment for us. A couple months ago, we took the car in to get one of the tire fixed because there was a nail in there. No one informed us of anything. We were told that everything else was fine. They even did a rotation for us.
Then this morning, we found another nail in a different tire so my husband took the tire in. We were told that the tires have worn down too thin to fix the tires and that our alignment was off, which is what was eating the treads on the tires. That’s funny, just a couple months ago, we were told everything was fine. They gave us a quote for four new tires at double the price we paid for two years ago.
Wow, talk about feeling scammed! What a shady business. There’s nothing wrong with our alignment and I only use my car to drive to school three days/​week, which is barely a mile away.
No way am I buying four new tires every two years at $ 700/​set! This business is family owned, which is why I gave them my business in the first place. I figure they’d take care of me but nope! They just want to get money out of me.
The owner’s excuse is that two months ago, maybe the tires weren’t worn down, which is why they didn’t notify us… seriously??? So in just two months, the tires went «bald?» Something doesn’t sound right here.
In the end, the owner refused to fix the nail in the tire (even though we paid for it when we bought the tires) and only wanted us to buy all new tires from him, as well as pay for an alignment, which Ford said we didn’t need!
This sounds just like a scam; refuse to do what you were paid to do, lie about customer’s tires, and get them to buy brand new tires that they don’t need because they just bought new tires from you two years ago!!!
So sad that honest businesses are a thing of the past.

It’s a pretty typical tire shop. I’d probably go back. There’s nothing special about this place. Nothing spectacularly bad or good, but probably more good than bad, so they get my 3 stars.
I read the reviews and went in here prepared to have a hard-​nosed dealing with the shifty mechanics kind of day. They had what I was looking for in stock, they were very close to home, the price was right, so off I went.
They were very nice and clear with what they were offering, what was included and what was not. The guy asked us if he could have a couple of hours to throw on the new tires. «Would you like an alignment check? It’s free with the tires?» Sure I’d love a free service as long as there are no strings attached! «Go ahead» I said.
Home I go, and a call we get, «You have loose ball joints. Would you like us to take care of it for you?» «Nope not yet, we’ll be there in 15 minutes though. Keep it on the rack, show me how bad it is, and we might change our minds.»
We get back to the car parked in the lot. «How was that alignment?» «We stopped checking it after we said your ball joints are loose. We will only ever provide one with a fully sound steering system.» «Cool, how long before you can get it on the rack again to show me the ball joints?» «30 minutes or so to clear a bay.» «Suit yourself, we’ll go without. Thanks.»
I was kinda displeased that they didn’t finish the alignment check to show how bad the car actually was, but then again I didn’t expect that heading in anyway. I was slightly irritated that they didn’t show us how bad the ball joint was, but I understand that a bay without a promise a paying customer is lost real estate. My real test would’ve been to check how bad it wobbled on the road while driving anyway, so I wasn’t missing much except a visual.
I asked for nothing more, and they provided nothing less. Pretty straight forward. I’d probably still go back again.

Wait a second… that screeching sound wasn’t there when I brought it in. Needless to say, I made the mistake of coming to this Big O Tires location. WTF was I thinking? I have had good experiences at other locations, so I assumed the same with this one. Now I feel like an a$$.
I went in for a tire rotation and balance. I left with neither, but I did get a $ 950 quote on new work I needed and new loud screeching noise coming from the rear axle. WTF? I took it to my local guy to have him take a look (I should have done this in the first place) and I felt like a fool after I left. Needless to say after taking it to my local mechanic and getting a quote for half the price, I know they were trying to pull a fast one.
Don’t do business with this Big O Tires!!!
