I’ve been going to the BBT for years. You get to the point where you can excuse the low standards(they can screw up a grilled cheese sandwich) and the fact that though it was started by an Italian, they can’t even do a decent plate of spaghetti. A friend used to say it was the worst breakfast in town, and the best place to have it. That about sums it up. This is no Linger or Root Down(or even Cherry Cricket), but I see friends in there and get treated well, so long as I get the right waitperson. The BBT is also about as unpretentious as it gets, and that counts for something. Bonus points because you can hear the person across the table from you, unlike most restaurants these days.

The cheese had the texture of glue and feel of rubber, there was too much sauce for anyone to enjoy and to top it all off the cheese appeared to be burnt in some places. Now, that can make a pizza taste good on yummy pizza but it just made this pizza even crappier. The bread was okay but when a pizzas cheese is terrible and their sauce is all you can taste, the bread becomes a waste of time. Do you want to know the worst part? ITWAS30DOLLARS!!! This place is terrible I’m never going there for pizza again.

This place is a landmark in Denver! If you are in the mood for an old-fashion, booth style, historical establishment — this is an amazing place! Best pepperoni pizza in town. Then walk across the street to the corner ice cream shop for a little dessert! Fun times had by all…

This is a great place to enjoy good food. It is priced right. Not too expensive. Their happy hour is nice and featured all day Sunday. I have their chicken and rice soup and it tasted good. The best part of the meal was the green chili fries. They are big, so be prepared. Overall this is a nice place with a great staff. Make sure you check it out.

So are they trying to be funny when they say Denver’s Best Pizza right on the front window? This place is seriously crap-tastic and I’m actually laughing right now writing this thinking people go here and love it. I’ve passed by this place for a number of years without knowing what it was like on the inside. I always envisioned a dark, smoky bar atmosphere but come to my surprise it’s more a family atmosphere diner style restaurant. We came here because of a BOGO deal(Thanks CPR Member card!) and I’m still left wondering why we came here. We sat, were greeted by our server, she took our drink order then left then I heard her and her other coworkers cussing and having their own conversations vs. doing this thing called their job and helping customers. I am no prude whatsoever and have been known to cuss like a trucker but would never do that at work. Who is running this place? We split a caesar salad. It was dripping with water and the croutons were half decent but then they got soggy. The main event was lackluster(and that’s being nice). I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Pizza and it was literally crust, buffalo sauce, chicken and cheese. No seasoning, no other toppings. Just that, it tasted like a homeless mans shoe. Our server was nowhere to be found, just sitting aorund in a booth by the door with other servers and really, you can tell they just don’t care so it wasn’t worth the energy to say something. I tried my fiancé’s chicken pot pie and it needed a load of salt and pepper to make it edible. This place is gross, I would rather go to Waffle House or Denny’s sober than eat here. Don’t waste your time.

Bonnie Brae Tavern: «The best pizza in Denver.» Nope. Delicious food? Nope. Good service? Nope. We ordered a couple items to share. First, we had the buffalo chicken pizza and it came to us with a soggy crust as if it wasn’t cooked all the way. Fries/Onion Rings combo was really greasy on a lot of the pieces but I’d give it a pass. Chicken pot pie(Saturday daily special) barely gets a pass as well. I could see the bartenders and waitresses loved socializing with each other and checking their phones. Our waitress, a cute blonde girl put on a fake smile and spoke with a voice that said«Thanks for coming in, but I really don’t want to be here and I really don’t care about your experience either.» Loved the interior and the history behind this area. However, the kids who work here just don’t care. Maybe it was just our waitress? Maybe it was a bad afternoon to go? How are we supposed to know when we have never been here before? Not coming back nor recommending. The plus side is that they have a parking lot. The down side… well, if you read this far then you already know. I’m sure your experience may vary but I’ll skip this place. Good thing it can easily be missed driving down University. Out of sight, out of mind.

Family tradition to have pizza here when we first arrive in Denver. The place has been around for years, as the pictures and posters on the wall will attest. The pizza is a good deal and the prices are reasonable. The booths are a bit tight if you have a group of more than four.

A museum with excellent pizza and a charming bar! I have been going here since I was little and it is historic and delicious! I love love love their pizza pie! Something magical occurs in their process as I have had nothing like it elsewhere . The place has an old school charm and can get quite crowded at peak hours. There are old menus on the wall and classic signage mixed in with flat screens. The turquoise vinyl is perfection and they have local craft beers as well as typical domestics and booze. The menu isn’t all high quality, but don’t waste your time on anything but the pizza. The salads and garlic bread are good if you need a little something else, but the pie is where it is at! I hope this place is around for another hundred years at least!

Best Pizza in Denver! My family and I have been going to this restaurant since I was a very little girl and I have always loved it. My dad has been going to this place since he was a little boy and still calls it «Carl’s» til this day. The service is welcoming, friendly and fast and the food is awesome. Be sure to order the onion rings, they are awesome!

I was here a week ago, first time in 5 or 6 years. Nothing has changed, which is good. Cold Coors Lt, aqua-colored vinyl booths, and some of the most solid pizza in town. It is what it is, and I appreciate it for that. I think my first visit was right about 20yrs ago in high school, and I hope my children will say the same thing!

Food is basic diner style eats. Came for brunch and had burnt coffee and had to wait 20 mins for food.

This is a fun old restaurant. It is like stepping back in time. I have only had one thing here… pizza…but their pizza is very good. I look forward to going back and trying other things on their menu.

We live less then a mile from here, so its one of our goto’s place for a quick and easy meal. They are very kid friendly, we have a 3 year old and 2 year old, so its important that we can get in and out quickly. Lets be honest, the food isn’t top shelf, but for a local tavern I can’t complain. When i was in the dating pool, I would NEVER take a date here, but it works for a quick meal. The pizza is ok, but I can’t see them winning any awards anytime soon for it. If you have young children and need a quick bite to eat, then this is the place. Don’t let the«Tavern» part fool you. It has to have been decades since it truly was a Tavern

Solid three Star Tavern, bordering on four stars. First, this is not fine dining. This is the kind of food my mother and my grandmother made in the 70s. There is something nostalgic about a ground beef cheeseburger pizza. This is where you come when you are exhausted, you need a Cosmo, your toddlers are exhausted and your infant is asleep in the car seat and your husband wants to watch the game. You can get spaghetti for the toddler– he can throw it everywhere you can have three Cosmos(they are petite) and hubby can watch the game and you can eat whatever appeals to you on the menu. A few years later you can bring the whole softball team here after the game, not care about your grubby clothes, share a few pizzas, maybe try the daily special, someone can have a steak & complain about it. All in all, this is a great neighborhood Tavern. This is not date night — this is for real life, every day life, and it’s old-fashioned mediocre but good food –it’s a diner, dive. Enjoy it while it’s still here!

Come on guys! This is a diner/tavern. If u r looking for fancy go elsewhere. The point of being a diner/tavern is to have that diner/tavern ambience. That being said, the food was okay. The meatloaf was solid but the pizza tasted like it had a Bisquick crust. Standard diner fare. Nothing to write home about but pretty much what was expected. The extra star was because this is a Denver institution. Service was excellent.

While my stay in Colorado recently I went here with some friends. They were coming here for a vegan MeetUp group outing. Always open to a new experience I went ahead and went along with them! The owner or main chef is actually vegan or vegetarian himself. Yet on their regular menu they only have pizza with meat. However for the vegan group outing the chef had plenty of vegan pizza pies ready to come out to the ever growing group. I had several varieties of pizza which were very good! Probably the most memorable pizza slice I had was the savory Strawberry Pizza. It was very unique and an interesting experience for my tastebuds!

Hmmm… What to say about this place. My friends and I were hungry, Saturday at 7PM. Our first few choices were packed so we drove down University and saw Bonnie Brae Tavern. There were few cars in the parking lot so we decided to head in to grab a bite to eat. From the outside I’ll admit this place looks like a dump, but after opening the doors, you’ve magically stepped back in time to a diner feel with vintage touches everywhere. Not my kind of place, it almost felt like a nice hospital cafeteria. None the less, we asked what they were known for, apparently their free chili and pizza. I opted for none of those choices and went with a burger. To be honest, it was ok, maybe I should have ordered the pizza or their mexican food with green chili. Again Hmmm… great service, ok food, meh, I’ve experienced better.
