Cherry Creek Express Lube & Automotive

My search is over and I have found a mechanic that I can trust and does great work. Best service I have ever had from a mechanic. Highly recommended.

This is going to be a novel, so if you want the TL;DR version here it is: The customer service at Cherry Creek Express Lube & Automotive is fantastic, at least from the technicians, but I would never have my car ‘fixed’ there again.
I received a glowing review from one of my co-​workers touting the quick turnaround and reasonable pricing structure. I’ve driven by this place countless times but never thought they would do weightier car repairs. I always assumed it was just an oil place.
I knew what was wrong with my car when I arrived, as I had already taken it to the dealership. A technician, Ken, came out and immediately identifies the same problem. He jots down the parts required to fix it and we head back inside. Ken hands me a bottle of water and Andrew, the exceptionally friendly technician working the front counter, places a call to nearby auto shops to get me a quote on the parts. $ 1,000 and I’ll have it back in a week. Easy, I thought.
Long story short: A month later, an additional dozen visits, an excessive Car2Go bill, and two power steering leaks the car still isn’t fixed. My car wasn’t working right, but it moved and I was fed up with the whole ordeal. I paid another bill ($ 300) for additional service charges and parts and I drove off in my car that was only marginally better off than when I brought it in.
I have since gone back to the dealership and had them fix the high pressure line, to the tune of $ 700. The infuriating part is, Ken just replaced the high pressure line at Cherry Creek Express Lube and Automotive a month and a half prior but there was a kink in it, rendering it mostly useless.
Here’s the thing about running a business. Perception is everything. I expected to pay $ 1000 dollars to get my car fixed in a week. It cost me $ 1300 to lose my car for a month and a half, plus an additional $ 700 to actually fix it somewhere else. That’s not acceptable. Andrew and Ken were magnificent, but at the end of the day my car wasn’t fixed. I won’t be going back.

If I could give this place –1 star, I would. The rudest, most inattentive and careless auto place I’ve EVER used. Not only was the guy mumbling the entire time, but when I returned to pick my car up, he overcharged me for an oil change by $ 40. They tried to tell me the promo online was expired and I couldn’t use it. Though there was no expiration online. Finally the manager (or woman in charge) reconciled it. Still the charge came out $ 30 ahead! He apparently used signature oil instead of regular which I had instructed the woman I wanted before I left in the first place. He then got pretty aggressive in tone with me and kept talking over me telling me I was wrong and naïve and should listen to my Mazda dealer about using signature oil (though I hadn’t heard anything about it before from Mazda)… He told me I’m ruining my car and my car is nice so I need to be a better car owner and take care of it and not take advantage. He was very out of line. And yes, presumably, has more car knowledge than I, but when a customer insists on a service for a set price, you need to follow his/​her request. After five minutes of arguing, he raised his voice and said «what am I supposed to do, take the oil of of your car?! Is that what you want?! Take the oil out?!» Umm no. You honor the price and let me leave with whatever oil it is you chose to use over my wishes. He was exasperatedly punching numbers on his keyboard and said «fine, I’ll give you more than you paid for» and honored the quoted price. Not worth it. Go to Midas or Jiffy.

Long story short… they broke my car, waited 5 hours, stole my money
I almost died. My car started vibrating a lot and making funny noises after leaving this place. One of my wheels almost came off while driving because they didn’t tighten the lug nuts. I took my car to a different autoshop (
) and had to get lug nut threads replaced.
If these people can’t even install the wheels back on correctly… imagine what goes on under the hood.

Do NOT go here if you value your car! First time (and last) I came here for an oil change and the clown performing the service did not screw the oil drain plug tight enough on and ALL the oil leaked out causing me to have major engine issues. STAY AWAY!

Great service and good prices — I’ve come here for my last 3 oil changes and they’re always great!

I’ve now had two major issues with this place.
First time in 2014. They didn’t tighten my oil filter on snug. So all of my oil drained out during the drive home. They called me when they noticed a trail of oil leaving their shop. By that time, I had already arrived at my house. So I had a large oil stain in my garage as a result. Oil didn’t even register on the stick. For those who don’t know, it damages your engine when you drive your vehicle with no/​low oil.
I heard they had new management, so decided to give them a second chance as the shop is so close to my house. And I like ConocoPhillips’ synthetic oil. This time, I watched them closely and notice they were filling my engine with generic O’rilleys conventional oil. Which is only good for about 3000 miles. I only chance my oil every 7000 as I buy synthetic. So I would have damaged my engine had I not asked them to dump it. And they did. But they didn’t even have ANY synthetic oil in the shop AT ALL. So I had to wait an hour for 5 bottles of oil to be delivered to the shop. And I saw them scam another customer while I was waiting by charging them for synthetic oil when they were filling their vehicles with off-​brand conventional.
In the end, I got Castrol (not Cococo) synthetic which was advertised.
If this shop is your only option, I encourage you to watch them closely from the front of your vehicle as I did. Or only purchase conventional oil, as that’s what you’ll get. And check your oil level and snugness of your filter when you get home.

Great service! I had a small leak in a radiator hose, and Kedric identified the problem and fixed it right up.

I had bought my own oil to change it myself, however bad weather had hit and i have no garage. I called around and these nice folks at cherry creek express changed my oil and also added my additives. They were fast and friendly. The also filled up my windshield washer fluid. No charge a plus in my book. They really made the experience pleasant. I brought my other vehicle into this shop and they changed its oil as well and quoted me a half hour labor for replacing a serpentine belt on this vehicle. It ended up taking around an hour. But they stuck to what they had quoted me. Truly quality service. I would recommend them to anyone.

Wouldn’t go here if I were you. Went in for an oil change and they suggested also doing brake pads and rotors. After already having to wait for some tool they needed and having to come in the next morning to finish, I left when they finished working on my brakes and heard a thumping noise in the front wheel area that had not been there before. Took the car back, was told it was something else and that my brakes were fine. Long story short… I had to get towed and another mechanic found they left a BOLT out when working on my brakes resulting in my wheels LOCKING UP while driving. They put me in danger and the tech who worked on the car tried to make me sound crazy and like there was no way he could have had anything to do with this.
The owner did give me a partial refund, which I appreciate, and seemed to be understanding about how scary the situation was and how bad it could have been (I was lucky to have this happen while driving on a road with no cars behind me). I hope they do something about this so a mistake like this doesn’t happen to someone else.

Cherry creek express lube is awful. I got my oil changed here and they didn’t screw the plastic protective covering back on and as I was driving down the highway my car was shaking and making a grinding noise. When I took it back in they didn’t apologize or try to make recompense for their error. Not coming back here

My husband and I took our two cars here for oil changes for a year. They offer a punch card to get the sixth oil change free… so I was down to try to earn that free one.
In general the oil change service was OK. nothing more nothing less.
Finally after a year I had 5 punches on my card and needed an oil change so I decided to go here and cash in my free oil change. Super exciting (i guess).
Anyway, I got there and the guy gave me a hard time about my husbands car not being in the ‘system’ even though I know he had taken the car there several times. Then I told him I had a free oil change on my card and he got really huffy and said that they couldn’t give it to me because «that car» hadn’t been in 5 previous times for an oil change. I told him I didn’t see what the difference was as my husband and I have paid full price for five oil changes and have the punch card to prove it. It doesn’t say anywhere on the punch card that you have to use the same car for every service.
Basically the guy got really rude, was mumbling and banging on the computer keys in exasperation. I was ready to give up and leave and he finally granted the free oil change. I have zero faith that they did a good job, the guy was really mad (why i have no idea, all i did was ask for the free service based on my punch card). When he was finished he came in and slammed my key on the counter.
Not like he cares, but I won’t go here again. These guys need training in basic customer service and maybe also a lesson on how to live as part of a human society in general.

These peeps are friendly and personal, and very fast every time. Free coffee and water!

I have come here 2x for an oil change now and am very pleased. the guys are really fast and don’t try to HARD sell you on added stuff. The 1^st time I came in, they diagnosed a problem with major areas of my car. I asked how much it would cost and then went to my regular mechanic to get a 2^nd opinion. The guys at this shop were correct ion the issues, and right on par with pricing. I ended up getting the repair at my mechanic, but it was good to know they were honest. The 2^nd time I cam e he showed me a nasty air filter and while I know it desperately needs changing, he didn’t pressure me into paying $ 40 for it when i am too broke to deal with it.

I had had a frenzied week, and as I tend to do, let my oil change go a tad too long. I was dreading making the trek to the dealership and hanging out there all day, so I gave this place a try. I was able to drop my car off on Saturday morning, walk over to the 24 hour fitness and do a quick workout, and when I returned it was done! Mike could not have been nicer and explained what type of oil they were using and why. There was absolutely no hard sell of any additional services, just a simple sign stating «Ask about additional services». Since I didn’t care about them, it was all good. They have coupons on their site for $ 5.00 off, so that was helpful. I can’t say enough good things about this place. It’s always just nice to have a no hassle car experience.

I want to say that Todd and the crew here are honest and nice to work with. Had to get breaks this week, and after a dishonest second opinion somewhere else, I came back to who works for me. This is also where I get my oil changed on a regular basis.

The people who are dissing this place must be local cherry creek elites who have European cars that are built like trash and don’t know anything about cars in general. If you know anything about cars and auto shops, you’ll know that this is the most trustworthy and excellent auto shop in Denver, BAR NONE. And this is saying A LOT. Honest workers, they work hard, and they never, ever, scam you on hidden costs or added stuff to fix that doesn’t need to be fixed. I won’t go anywhere else!

I’ve gone here a few times. The location is convenient but I wont go here again.
PROBLEM: They attempt to sell you services you dont need. Typically they use scare tactics to tell you why you need these and what can go wrong with your car if you dont do what they recommend.
I drive about 5 miles a day, have a 2008 with just over 40k miles on it. I’m told my power steering need to be flushed, I need a new air filter, rear main seal leak, upper oil pan leak… Every time I go in I’m told there is something wrong. When I was at the dealership a few months ago I was told everything with my car looked great.
If you go here make sure you only go for what you came for. If something else is offered, educate yourself and you can always go back for the service!
I personally will no longer spend my money at a place that tries (& did!) to rip me off.

There is a big sign out front that says «Oil Change $ 29.99». So, needing an oil change, I pulled in. A guy who works there came to my car as I pulled in and asked what I needed. When I asked how much an oil change was, he said «$ 39.99, minimum». Then he assumed out loud that I’d probably need a «synthetic blend» and brought me in to look it up. He decided that he was right and it’d now cost $ 49.99. Midas, next door, did it for $ 29.99 (with a synthetic blend).

Someone here either:
1) Broke the clamps holding my air filter in and didn’t tell me.
2) Went to check the air filter, couldn’t open because it was broken, and didn’t tell me.
3) Didn’t check the air filter at all, which is standard when coming in for an oil change that costs 40 bucks.
