Em’s Ice Cream

Burnt brown sugar. Tastes like the burnt sugar topping of crème brûlée — in ice cream form! Genius!!!

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! (That’s conveniently served in a truck.)
Now that that’s over with … Em’s serves quality ice cream that’s prepared with high quality ingredients. I had a scoop of the Cherry Chocolate Chip ice cream, and it blew my tastebuds away. The cherry flavor was very present and really fresh. The chocolate chips were thin and crunchy, and additionally homemade, giving the ice cream a nice contrast in texture. Every bite that I had, had little specks of cherry, making me happy that the flavor wasn’t derived from just some chemically processed syrups. Speaking of syrups, the ice cream was on the sweeter side, but it doesn’t disregard the fact that it was delicious.
The consistency of this ice cream was a bit more crumbly/​brittle than any other ice cream I’ve ever had. But every spoon I had convinced me that this place serves the creamiest and silkiest ice cream I’ve ever had, too.
Oh, and the service was great. The man serving the ice cream was additionally very friendly. He took the time to share where certain ingredients were sourced from. For example, the coffee beans used for the coffee cashew toffee is from Luna coffee in Denver, an independent Ethiopian roaster. (I sampled the Coffee Cashew Toffee and found it to also be really tasty. A bold coffee flavor, paired with the nutty/​sweetness of cashews. Yum.)
$ 3.50/scoop may seem like it’s a bit much, but it’s well worth it considering the quality of the ingredients and high quality of the product. If you’re feeling sad, or happy, go for two for $ 4.50. Em’s will rock your tastebuds.

Have never seen Em’s on 16^th St but recently was at an event were the food truck was there. Had the toasted coconut which was delicious, the server was very nice and started explaining to me how that flavor was made. In the end, regardless of how it was made, the ice cream was very good and creamy. Will have it againcnext time I run into this food truck!

Em’s came through for our school in a pinch by filling in for an ice cream truck that had to cancel at the last minute. The ice cream was fantastic! The guy serving it was very nice and explained as he was scooping how it was made. Definitely would recommend them to others!

We stopped by the cart on 16^th street after dinner, because I still wanted to satisfy my sweet tooth. $ 3.50 seemed a bit pricey for 1 scoop, so my husband and I got 2 (a dollar more) and shared. We tried the salted caramel which was good, but we settled on the burnt brown sugar. We gobbled it down! The girl was telling us how it’s made, and was very sweet. I wish we had gone for the triple scoop! Also wishing we had one here in Atlanta…
Oh, and just to note… she mentioned they change flavors every week or so!

Just stopped here for some ice cream while walking around. It’s a little cart in the middle of 16^th st mall. There are some small tables nearby to sit at. We tried the salted caramel and cookies and cream. Salted caramel was delicious!

We actually ran into Em’s when they brought their food truck to the southern end of the First Friday art festival on Santa Fe. Since we’d had a late lunch, we weren’t really in the mood for dinner, but something about ice cream on a relatively warm and humid Friday night sounded just right — so we waited in a short line to get our crack at some ice cream. My wife went with the cherry chocolate chip; I’m not a huge cherry person myself, so I thought it was okay, but it was imbued with a very rich, tart cherry flavor, with chocolate nibs here and there. Very good overall, although I thought that the chocolate was a bit overshadowed against the big flavors of the cherry. I went with the burnt brown sugar ice cream, which I was a huge fan of and devoured quickly. Brown sugar has a bit more of a fuller flavor, but burning it gives it a molasses-​like flavor that’s a bit intense and has a very slight hint of char to it — an interesting combination for a dessert but one that I really enjoyed a lot.
The ice cream is reasonable for small-​batch, high-​quality ice cream. The menu could be a bit clearer about what you can get your ice cream in; my wife was going to get hers in a cup until she saw there was a cake cone that she could get it in for no extra cost (it’s only the waffle cone that’ll set you back a buck). A delicious treat to end our journey through Denver’s art scene — and I’d definitely try them again when I am back in town!

Em’s had a stand at Art on the Green in Lyons this weekend. Sunday was wicked hot, so I had ice cream for lunch, which was a very good call on my part. I had two scoops. One was Honey Lavendar, which was really good, but the showstopper was the Burnt Brown Sugar. I’ve been dreaming about it ever since. I’ll definitely be looking for Ems again!

Very good organic ice cream! I had 1 scoop of salted caramel and it was huge and delicious! $ 3.50 + $ 1 for waffle cone. A little on the pricey side, but a very tasty treat!

I enjoyed a meyer lemon cone after a long bike ride. The server was friendly and eager to strike up a conversation. A lovely stand to grad a treat!

The texture of the ice cream is unlike any ice cream I’ve ever had. Apparently it’s an East Coast recipe, so the ice cream is more silky than «icy» as with West Coast ice cream. Regardless, the ice cream is absolutely delicious, and the flavors really come through. I got a scoop of the salted caramel and omg, it was amazing. I can’t wait to try out more of their flavors!

Very good. Natural ingreeds. Friendly service. Beautiful truck. The owner grew up in a small town in Maine. Wished he had access to fresh milk based ice cream off of nearby farms akin to what he grew up with. Bought a truck and here he is. Very good.

CANNOT get enough of Em’s Earl Grey ice cream. Earl Grey flavored desserts can taste a little soapy — Em’s is so floral, creamy, and exquisite! I suffered from withdrawal when she didn’t have my Earl Grey ice cream for a period of several days.
Her other flavors are worth mentioning as well, but Earl Grey flavored ice cream is so rare and especially so rarely this well executed that I couldn’t resist sharing the love.

We really thought the flavors were unique and tasty. The stand guy was helpful and encouraged us to try samples of anything we found interesting. We tried peach ginger and burnt brown sugar. We ended up with milk chocolate and cinnamon. Yum! Will go back on our next visit to 16^th street.

This place rocks! Artisan Ice Cream and it tastes great. This is a new small business and I encourage everyone to support them!

I love Em’s Ice Cream. The flavors are unique and delicious. Toasted coconut is my favorite. I also love that a portion of profits go to charity.

I’m a huge fan of Em’s. Love that the ice cream is made with real ingredients and not just extracts for flavor. Glad that it is organic. Love that it is made local. Love that it is unique. Love that it just tastes so good!
The flavors are different from anything I’ve had before yet still refined and simple. This isn’t weird just to be weird, but truly different. Burnt brown sugar? Amazing. Mocha cashew toffee? Even better. I’ll be back for salted caramel and strawberry balsamic.
