Eyes of the World Optical

I contacted them twice so I could budget and plan to buy glasses at their establishment. I understand frames are expensive and I always go for at least a few add on’s. I wanted to understand the cost of the add on’s since these would be static costs that I could budget around. But no one responded ever. I guess I was not good enough to dirty their hands with. Or they stupidly assumed that I couldn’t afford them and are a bunch of snobs.
Complete radio silence. No answers, no friendly «Thanks for contacting us.» Nothing, they just ignored me. Obviously they don’t need nor want my business so I am not going to bother with them anymore. I only contacted them because a friend gave me a small gift certificate there. I have given it back and told them I’d rather spend less money at America’s Best and get better customer service. My most favorite pair of glasses were from America’s Best and they cost half the price of these snobby boutiques. I hate supporting chains, which is why I tried to avoid going back to America’s Best… but screw it, for the respect and the cost it’s much better.

I came here to buy glasses and they had a great selection for all price ranges. They were able to get my glasses done early, so I could pick them up before I had to go to work. I really enjoyed going here, and definitely recommend them!

I’ve been a patient of Eyes of the World for several years now, and I have to say it is some of the best customer service that I have ever received. Not only Dr. Baird, but every person that I have ever dealt with or spoken to on the phone is so incredibly friendly and helpful that I sometimes think I’m in a twilight zone episode.
I really can’t stress enough my appreciation for customer satisfaction. If you are looking for an eye doctor this is the only place for you, seriously. Tell them I sent you. It probably won’t get you anything. Or me either. But I really like knowing people are mentioning me.

So, I hadn’t gotten an eye exam in a long time, but my job recently started giving vision coverage. This place was close to home, looked funky in a good way so I gave it a whirl. The male OD I saw was great. He was friendly, patient and answered all of my questions. He also helped me choose a good deal for my contacts.
I opted to buy contacts from them with a rebate. Unfortunately, the rebate was expired. Incidentally, I didn’t like the new contact brand I chose and they were only willing, initially, to refund my for the non-​opened boxes. Given their blunder with the expired rebate, they gave me a sample box. This made me happy.
Glasses prices are highly inflated. I found a frame I liked and bought them online for half the price.

Fantastic experience! The attention to detail combined with extreme level of customer service is such a refreshing and often lost experience you can’t help but Unilocal from the rooftops when it happens to you! Brent and the others have a level of care and dedication to satisfaction it would just be selfish not to share. I’ve worn glasses most of my life, and this was the first time I’ve actually had someone help with selection, sizing and making sure they fit perfectly! It was actually fun! Get in there! Get your peepers looked at!

Hey! Are you looking for the best optometrist in all the world? Because if you are, you found it. Eyes of the world optical. They give you the gift of vision. So get down there for all your vision needs. Because when it comes to eyesight, these badass opticians are the coolest there is.

My appointment was with Dr. Channing Baird at the City Park location. Aside from personally getting to know me, Dr. Baird listened to my eye concerns and provided several causes/​reasons and solutions. This location is cute, easy to locate, and offers parking in the back or a B-​Cycle station near by. The staff is professional and friendly. I did not purchase glasses, but they offer a lot of really cute frames. I purchased contacts and they were available within days. I highly recommend Eyes of the World Optical.

I haven’t written a review in awhile, but I just LOVED this place so figured I’d give them a shout-​out. I went in for a general eye exam and to get new glasses/​contacts. Liz was my optometrist, and the perfect balance of helpful, professional and genuinely sweet. She made a slight change to my prescription, recommended AMAZING eye drops for my constant Denver-​dry-​eye battle, and gave me trial versions of two different types of contacts to see which I would prefer. The two techs who were working were amazing as well. They never made me feel rushed (I could spend hours trying on glasses), held up great conversation, and in the end recommended the funky pair that I fell in love with. Just all in all a charming office with charming employees.
Also. side note & fun fact — Vine St. Pub across the street is an awesome brewery with great organic food, a fun patio and bottomless mimosas during weekend brunch. Not a bad way to end a doctor’s appointment! :)

This is a very unique optical office. Located in an old mansion in the City Park area, you wouldn’t expect the contemporary atmosphere and great selection of high end frames inside. EOTW has two doctors, Dr. Baird and Dr. Failla, at this location. They are very friendly and knowledgeable, and willing to take the time to answer any questions you may have. It is a completely different experience than the chain stores where you see a different doctor every time. The optical staff also appears very motivated to help you find the best frames for you. I had no difficulty scheduling a convenient appointment with little advance notice, and once I arrived, was promptly seen by the doctor. Overall, this is a great, eclectic practice which is perfect for the City Park area.

I found the best pair of glasses here. And, no joke, they were the cheapest frames I have bought in years (you wouldn’t guess it from looking at them, though). No more stupid, boring LensCrafters for me! (Don’t get me wrong, I’m no cheapskate. I was fully prepared to pay a Cherry Creek North kind of rate to get the look I wanted.)
And, to top it all off, the frames were recycled from other plastics! Literally, all of my bougie, liberal arts sensibilities are SO HAPPY at this store.

Going into this office makes me feel like I’ve stepped back in time and just walked into an optometrist’s office in the late 1800s. Not because they have outdated equipment or anything like that (in fact their stuff is just as high quality and new as I’ve ever seen in an eye doctor’s office — get it? «seen» ha), but because it’s housed in an older home where the exam rooms are rooms in the house and the waiting area might have been a parlor or living room 100 years ago. It is awesome for atmosphere.
My doctor was brand new to the practice. Unfortunately I don’t remember her last name because she just asked me to call her Liz, which I did. She was really awesome throughout my eye exam though — explaining what she was doing or seeing and not batting an eye when I got all babyish about getting drops in my eye for dilation and pressure testing.
I have a really minor prescription — one that I really only use when using a computer or e-​reader because my eyes tend to work a little harder than they need to when focusing on near things. (Geesh, even my eyes are overachievers!) And so I ended up picking out a new pair of glasses for this prescription here, too. The guy who helped me with this was great. I think I tried on every pair of glasses that were remotely close to what I was looking for and he never got impatient. Best of all he wasn’t afraid to give me his opinion, good AND bad, of the glasses I tried on. I appreciate that kind of honesty and am glad I found it here.
Last point to note — the tech that came in and did my initial screening was fantastic, too. Super friendly and very comfortable to be around. It seems like all the people I encountered here were happy to be there and good at their jobs. A fact that I can really appreciate!

Went to Eyes of the World (17^th and Vine location) on Saturday for the first time. I had called the day before for an appt and they were able to get me in the very next day to fill a cancel (love when places offer Saturday appointments!). First admission: I totally lost track of the time at the Cherry Creek Farmers’ Market and called EOTW at my appointment time and told them I was still 15 mins away. The staff member told me it was no problem, that they would still see me. Off to a great, customer-​service-​oriented start!
I saw Dr. Gilbert, who I believe is the only doc at that location. He was very nice, very thorough and gave me lots of good explanations and options for my dry eyes. His staff was excellent as well. Spent lots of time helping me one-​on-​one as I picked out glasses – something that I’m TERRIBLE at – and gave me straight «No, that’s not good on you» as many times as they said they liked a pair. We all ended up liking a pair best that was WAAAY beyond my budget and they then took time to find me a similar pair at a much more reasonable price. I recommend them HIGHLY!

I went in to the south gaylord location (since it was a Saturday, nice that they do exams on weekends) and had a great experience with Dr Baird and the staff upstairs. Dr Baird is very friendly and very knowledgeable. The opticians upstairs had a great sense of what would look good and what wouldn’t on me, once I told them what size frames I was looking for. The selection is very wide, both for glasses and sunglasses. I also saw prescription goggles for sports. It was pricey, yes, but you get a lot for your money here, in my opinion. I’ll be glad to see them again next year!

I initially had an exam with Dr Takara at the Wash Park location – great doctor, good experience. Being a first time patient, I didn’t remember her name, and «Channing Baird» was the only name written on any of the documents I got from Eyes of the World, so when I had to call and make a followup appointment because my prescription didn’t seem quite right, I made it with Dr Baird.
When I got to the office, I was seen by Dr Baird (who I quickly realized wasn’t the doctor I had previously seen.) I apologized for booking with the wrong doctor, but explained it was because hers was the only name I saw on my prescription. She responded only by saying, «Yeah, I own these offices, so my name is on the prescriptions.» Cool.
During the visit, I felt like I had to direct the whole appointment. Her answers were clipped and she sounded generally annoyed. It was probably in part because her computer system was down. But this is what bothered me almost the most. One of the people who works there, a super nice guy, was trying to fix her computer. When she needed equipment from behind where he was working, she would just stand above him and look at him, annoyed, until he would notice her and ask if she needed to get in. Finally, in a fluster, she told him to just «go, and fix this when she’s done.» I’ve been in the service industry enough to recognize shitty bosses, and the way she was treating her employees just sucks.
So, eventually, I pull out of this woman that the contacts I was given to wear home were the original rx that I had walked in with, and that’s why my vision hadn’t improved. I also figure out that my right eye is dry, but not before Dr Baird, seemly exasperated with having to deal with me, took a picture of my eye, showed me a grey strip on the surface of my eye, and said, «That’s why your vision is blurry.» That’s it… So, I have a grey strip in my eye… WTF is it? Is it dangerous? Something I can do about it? Again, I had to direct my own appointment.
Now, see. I’m pretty lenient with people, I understand bad days, but I also understand people who are in the wrong field/can’t stand what they do. I really hate people who don’t care about their job and stomp on their employees, and that’s what I witnessed that day with ol’ Baird at Eyes of the World. Boo.
The final straw was this. I rarely wear glasses, and when I do, I often break them or lose them, so I don’t want to drop hundreds of dollars on a knock-​around pair. I wanted to try getting a cheap $ 20 pair off of the internet. When, at the end of my appointment, I asked if they could measure the distance between my pupils so I could order a pair, she hesitated, looked at me for a second or two, and told me that «we don’t do that here. You’ll have to do that at home.» Woman, you’re sitting surrounded by hundreds of pairs of glasses. You sell glasses to people, and you obviously have the equipment to do it. I paid your office too much for an appointment, and the least you can do is hook my peepers up to that little machine that takes 3 seconds to use. She was just pissed (it seemed) that I wasn’t buying glasses OR contacts through them (she argued with me for some time that she has the lowest prices on contact lenses, and that the much price I found online was wrong… uhhhhh… it worked for me)
Needless to say, I asked politely at Target optical and they measured for free, and without the ol’ Channing Attitude. I won’t be back, I can tell you that much. Disrespect not only for customers, but the people who work for you? No good, Baird. No good.
