Happy Cakes

I love this place! I found it while wandering 38^th and it was every bit as good as advertised.
I tried the Cherry Coke and peanut butter ones on my first trip and both of them were awesome. The Cherry Coke is by far my favorite one that I’ve tried so far, it does legitimately taste like the soda. The peanut butter was layered on the inside, which was pretty neat.
I came back a few days later because I wanted to try to Mexican chocolate and it was fine. The orange spice one was fine too, but I don’t like spiced cake. And for the people saying that it’s expensive, it’s cheaper than most cupcake stores I’ve gone too but better.
So I like the variety, there’s one worth trying on every day of the week. I want to come back and try them all. They also have gluten-​free and vegan-​friendly options. This is a very high four stars too, if they all tasted as good as the Cherry Coke then it’d definitely be 5.

Such cute cakes and delicious cupcakes. Macaroons are also to die for. I highly recommend!

Cupcakes are ok but like many other things in Denver are over rated by denverites.
The cupcakes taste better blended in to the sweet cow ice cream across the street than stand alone. Found them to be on the dry side, icing was too hard even after keeping at room temp and in general not all that impressive.

They have really yummy cupcakes, with a variety of interesting, fun flavor combos. Definitely recommend this for your sweet tooth fix!

Don’t go here. Their attitude is terrible. They really have a poor service attitude. If you say you are Happy Cakes, then be Happy Cakes. Take your business elsewhere. There are lots more gluten free places.

Do yourself a favor and eat more cupcakes! Hard to have a bad day after shoving one of these incredible gifts from the gods into your face. I can’t tell who’s happier (or covered in more frosting) me, or my 2 year old daughter!

Second visit today and despite the fact that we spent 20 minutes locating a parking spot and actually arrived 5 minutes after they’d closed, we were invited in. My youngest daughter was in tears when we arrived and they were closed, so I couldn’t be more impressed by her kindness. The cupcakes and macaroons were all super delicious too! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I ordered a gluten free cake for an alternative choice. However, the cake was dry and very dense. It was more like a texture of a biscuit, really not impressed.
The price was very expensive for a 6″ round cake.
They were nice to work with but just too expensive and not impressed with the gluten free option.

We ordered a dozen vanilla vegan cupcakes for a birthday. The frosting was good but the actual cake part was so dense it was chewy and heavy and tasted like it was made a day or two before. To top it off the customer service was sub par. Disappointed because I had heard really good things. Won’t be doing business here again.

Their store name reminds me of a playground chant we used to sing as kids. Maybe it’s just me but I seem to be off the cupcakes as of late. It’s just cake… But smaller… And it costs more per serving.
I do however, love the cookies this place serves up. They have a killer cookie. Don’t pass it up. Lemony sugary yumminess. Love their cookies. I also love their macarons also. Pretty great selection. Smaller in size but yummy when fresh. I ended up buying too many and I let them sit for a few days– rock hard macarons aren’t great… So eat them all the day you get them, they don’t keep well.
Not a huge fan of their cupcakes though. I recently had a gluten free one and it wasn’t great… Maybe it’s the whole gluten free-​ness of it. Things without gluten in it (that should have gluten in it) really taste funny to me. I’ll have to come back to try the other gluten-​filled varieties. The French toast one was tempting me and I spied a bacony one… Lots of flavor combos, I’ll definitely be back! Cute presentation. Check in on Unilocal– you’ll get 25% off your order.

I found Happy Cakes on Unilocal and wanted to get cupcakes delivered to my sister who works in downtown Denver. I ordered online (12 dozen and a delivery) then received a call a couple days later to give my card info over the phone. I never received an invoice or how much it was going to cost and was never told there was a delivery fee on-​top of the cupcake costs. I called to see when I would get charged and was told that I would not be charged until the day of the order. That’s when I found out they had added on an $ 18 deliver fee for a 2 – 3 mile delivery from their shop. I have no problem paying for a delivery fee but they could have let me know ahead of time that there would even have been a fee and I would feel much better about the situation.
I should have been told up-​front about the whole costs (cupcakes+delivery) not just charged a random amount for a delivery fee. No happy cakes for me.

Had my first experience with Happy Cakes yesterday and it was a delight! I placed an order online (not following the 24-​hour rules) and had a response from Rebecca within an hour. They were so accommodating, despite the somewhat last minute notice.
When I showed up to get my order, everything was all packaged up and ready to go. Since I wasn’t serving the cupcakes until the next day, they happily wrapped the boxes in saran wrap. I tried the Coffee & Donuts mini and while it was just ever-​so-​slightly dry, I’ll overlook that because that flavor was SPOT ON.
Overall, I would definitely recommend Happy Cakes on their service alone!

Cupcakes here are delicious. Everyone should go on Tuesday and get the $ 2 cupcake deal, it’ll save you a lot of money in the end. I have tried all of the cupcake flavors here and am always blown away by the combinations and how delicious they truly are.
My personal favorite cupcake is the banana streusel cupcake. I was hesitant about this one but as soon as I took one bite I fell in love. Another of my favorites is the red velvet, it’s just classic and simple and it’s done right. I would probably skip the chocolate chai, it’s a little strange of a combination for me but a lot of people seem to like it a lot.
I have two complaints here, one is that the place is crazy hard to find your first time here. They should definitely put more signs on the street to generate better foot traffic throughout the day. My other complaint is that they put too much frosting on the cupcakes for me, I know a lot of people who love a ton of frosting so I get why they do it but I don’t think the frosting they make is anything spectacular to begin with. All in all this is a great little place to grab a quick cupcake on the run.

Happy Cakes did a wonderful job catering the cake and cupcakes for our wedding! They can be very busy, so sometimes it takes a few days to hear from them, so please make sure you contact them in a timely manner. When we visited their store to contact them to do the cupcakes for our wedding, they sent us home with a 6-​pack of full-​size cupcakes of our choosing to sample! We and our family were very grateful for their generosity to allow us to sample them, and they were delicious! There was no doubt that we were going to choose them.
They delivered and set up the cake and cupcakes perfectly. They also set up our cake topper for us so that we didn’t have to worry about it on the day of the wedding. We received so many compliments, the cupcakes were delicious! By far the most popular flavor was the Chocolate Salted Caramel, our other flavors were pumpkin spice, vanilla on vanilla, and chocolate on chocolate.
The cost was very reasonable and comparable to other cupcake shops, but by far the quality of Happy Cakes surpassed the competitors we contacted. Would recommend!

There was nothing Happy about Happy Cakes from the moment I walked in. First the woman working that day couldn’t have been less interested in helping a first time visitor to her shop. I came based on the website advertising several holiday flavors as well as «all the usual flavors» of French Macaroons. I asked the woman about them and her response was so nonchalant «no the bakers don’t make those»
So why are they on your website? That’s disappointing.
Aside from that all I could see was a small cramped counter full of artificially colored cupcakes no bigger than what you get at a kids birthday party. Expensive too at $ 3 a cupcake! I didn’t bother making a purchase based entirely on the woman working there’s attitude– if she hates her job at Happy Cakes THAT much there’s a good reason why.

Tis the season! Happy cake’s has tasty flavors to enjoy for the holidays!
I’ve placed an order for my company’s holiday treat exchange the day before and DELIVERY. Yes they deliver! I’ve placed an order for the red velvet, happy together, vanilla, chocolate salted Carmel, chocolate candy cane, and gluten free Mexican hot chocolate, must say all the flavors were delicious but I couldn’t resist the chocolate candy cane!
For exceptional service and delicious cupcake treats, happy cakes will truly make you do the happy dance!

Happy Cakes has some pretty delicious flavors. I had these during cupcake week for my birthday — cupcakes delivered every day of the week — now that’s what I’m talkin’ about! They deliver anywhere in the Denver area next-​day which is nice.
The cupcakes are moist and the filling they use on the specialty cakes make them outstanding. The frosting can be a bit too sweet but that is my only complaint. Of the 5 places I tried my ranking is:
1) Big Fat Cupcake
2) French for Sugar
3) Happy Cakes
4) Maggie & Molly’s Bakery
5) Yours Truly

Happy cakes is happy alright. Not sad, but certainly not elated, ecstatic, or overjoyed. It’s certainly very simply happy. If you’re not picking up what I’m putting down, the adjectives were metaphors for my rating. Happy cakes is a very mediocre 3 stars. It’s not superb, but it’s «ehhh.» You won’t hate the cupcake but it’ll probably just make you crave someone else’s cupcake. It’s not horrible. They’re really not. They’re just not that good either. Would I recommend them, no. But I wouldn’t dissuade rudely either.
Mehhh.
