Headlines- The Washington Park Salon

I bought the Groupon and at first I must admit I was skeptical trying out a new salon through Groupon… but I was definitely pleasantly surprised by what a great experience I had. I got full highlights from Hannah. She was super sweet and my hair turned out exactly how I wanted it! She really knows her stuff when it comes to the right color/​tones that work with your particular hair type. I have Asian hair and have had bad experiences with highlights turning out too copper but she worked it perfectly just like the picture I showed her of what I wanted. Will definitely be coming back.

I love this salon. I see Erin and she cuts my hair and waxes eye-​brawls. She is the best stylist I have ever had. She always takes the time to explain all the products to me and how to use them. Her suggestions have been spot on when it comes to products. She is also talented at waxing eye-​brawls. I won’t see anyone else for them. She listens and is conservative when applying wax. She has years of experience.
It is also easy to get an appointment. The receptions as very nice and friendly. Parking can be hard, but park down the street. The prices are good. They do have a ranking system of stylists so price can vary based on their experience.

I got a really bad hair cut here once then they ask me to come in for a correction cut. So my hair has been growing slowly and they have been correcting that cut since for few months. Last night I got my 2^nd bad hair cut there. Not going for a correction this time. actually not going going there at all again. My hair is now way too short and looks like I am wearing a freaking helmet.

Pretty stellar salon. They were able to get me in last minute (like, day of) which is much appreciated. Plenty of street parking and easy to find.
This is an Aveda salon, so you know it’s gonna smell goooooood. Mmm. They even make you tea which is really soft and soothing (although I usually prefer wine). But the tea was great and it matches the serene atmosphere of Headlines.
Very best part of my visit? The complimentary head massage you get before your haircut and style! I felt well taken care of the entire time, and my stylist (Cheri, who is also the owner) really listened to me and made sure I was happy. She cut all my hair off just like I asked, and she helped me find a great product for styling it.

I heard about this place because Christian gave me his card in the Cherry Creek mall. I have lived in this city for 5 years and had not found a salon or stylist that I liked enough to visit a second time… until now! Now that’s I’ve found Christian & Headlines, I’ll never go anywhere else. I showed him a picture of what I wanted, which was a pretty drastic change from the style I already had. The picture I showed him had bangs in it, and he simply started cutting & kind of steered away from the bangs until the end. When he was finished, he said, «Honestly, I think this style is great as is! I just want to remind you that bangs are at least a two year commitment… if you really want them, we’ll do them.» I am SO GLAD he said that because I was on the fence about them anyway, and now, I’m so glad I decided against them. My hair is gorgeous, I’ve gotten a ton of compliments, and I’ve told everyone I know about this salon!

This was my first visit to Headlines. I had only one major complaint: I chose this place because they were offering a Groupon for a cut and color. I called to see if I could get in, and surprisingly they fit me in the next day (there was a cancellation), and they were going to give me the Groupon price without having to actually purchase it. I saw Erin, who obviously knew what she was doing with color. She said she wasn’t able to give me the Groupon, price, however, because I required a color correction, rather than just a normal dye job. I still don’t really understand what happened, but I ended up spending much more than I intended to. This knocked back a star — but I’m giving a 4-​star rating because she did a fantastic job on both my color and cut.
The salon was also pretty incredible — super attentive, friendly service, with lots of additional pampering (hand massage, goodie bag, beverages, etc.) Now Erin has a «plan» for my hair and I’ve already booked another appointment to continue the follow-​through. I had no idea hair could be so complicated, to be honest, but I’m seriously happy to do this rather than switching stylists every time. And the prices really aren’t too bad for being an Aveda salon.

I’ve been coming here for 5 – 6 years and they do a great job! I’ve been happy every time I’ve left. The service is great and I love that it’s an Aveda salon, using natural products. Try the tea, its delicious.

I cannot figure out how this place won best salon. Terrible stylists and customer service. I went for the first time in Feb on the recommendation of a friend. Got an ok cut. Went back two times and got horrible cuts. Then, stylist tells me she’s taking a ‘sabattical.’ Sounded weird, but whatever. When I call for new appointment, I’m told now, she had surgery. Call back again and am told she quit. Ok, so why did nobody call all her customers to tell them and set them up with somebody new? I then get a new stylist, who they say will be great with my kind of hair. She gives me a terribly uneven cut. I tell the girl at the desk. No apology. No refund. No offer to fix it. I ask why she was recommended for me, and the truth comes out: she was the cheapest (read: most inexperienced). I asked for someone new. I’m given a woman who is going on maternity leave in two weeks. What??? That’s how you keep a customer happy? Giving her a stylist she can only see once, and forcing her to try a fourth stylist one month later? So, I grt a lopsided haircut from the pregnant woman, different layers on the left side of my head than the right. Next month, I go to stylist #4, and she’s nuts. Tells me she read about dry cutting and wants to try it on me. I ask her not to. She does anyway. I ask for very thinned out at the bottom, bcs my hair has a total bell shape, mom bob tendency. As she’s chatting, she asks has anyone left my hair without the thinning and cut the outside layer longer instead of shorter. I say no, and leave it at that. Well. That’s what she did to my hair. It totally accentuates the bell shape. And, my hair is totally longer on one side, bcs of the dry cut. Now, when I told the salon, they (finally after four bad stylists) did offer to fix it. But, no way am I ever letting these amateurs touch my hair again.

Glad I called, got in right away on a Saturday morning! Thank-​you for taking great care of me. I love my bangs!

I have mixed feelings about Headlines, but mostly negative ones.
I used to live in Wash Park, so Headlines was my «home» salon. I always felt like there was friendly service from the front desk staff and LOVED all the stylists I had there. My haircuts were always pretty good– no complaints.
So, the big issue– Headlines cannot hold on to their stylists! I am not sure exactly what is going on, but every time I become a «regular» of one of their stylists, they leave. I’ve heard from other clients that management of the salon is not supportive of their stylists, so stylists end up moving on to other Aveda salons or other salons period. I am so disappointed that I have had to try so many different stylists in one spot over a short period of time. I have since moved my business to another Aveda salon that (from what I hear from its staff members) takes better care of their staff and retains them.

I love this salon! Every time I move somewhere new I have a hard time finding someone who will not mess up my hair. Luckily for me I found Alexia! She does a fantastic job. I went from long dark hair to short high lighted hair and she created everything I asked. I later came back and request dark black hair. I love the dark tones we picked out. I’ve had some horrible experiences here in the Denver area but I’m happy to say I found my new hair place. Oh also they do phone follow ups to ensure your services were what you expected and to make sure the colors and cut is working. I also received a coupon from them for $ 15 off my next service. Love them!!!

Cherie is a godsend! She is always kind, professional, and funny. I look forward to appointments with her and have referred many friends and family to her in the last four years.
Headlines is a small but busy salon. I enjoy the atmosphere and the wide variety of Aveda products they carry. It is right on the edge of Wash Park and has a very down to earth feel. The owners and staff go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome and to get customers in as quickly as possible.

Headlines has been my favorite salon for years. I have gone to several of their stylists and all have been wonderful. I moved to NYC about two years ago but always try to make a point to visit Headlines when I return to Denver to visit family.
Aveda salons tend to push products pretty hard, and while Headlines is no different, I’ve found that the staff does a great job of listening to what kind of product you might be looking for, and makes a point to offer sample sizes over the full-​sized product if they have it in stock.
Parking can be a little difficult, so be sure to give yourself a little extra time before your appointment.

I had an excellent experience at Headlines Park Salon. I hadn’t had my hair colored or trimmed in nearly a year after a bad experience… but my hesitation turned into excitement after a full highlight and trim from Truth at Headlines! She did an amazing job and listened and did exactly what I asked. I now have beautiful blonde highlights and fresh new haircut. I would highly recommend Headlines Salon and Truth!

I went to this salon about 6 months ago.
I just received an email from them that says they won BEST SALON IN DENVER, so I felt compelled to share my experience. I came here on a whim, I looked up what Aveda salons were in my area. I’m pretty self educated in hair so I explained what I wanted to the stylist and even warned her that my naturally dark brown hair will pull very warm tones when bleached and colored. I’ve had previous stylists successfully lift my root color and not turn my hair orange, but not this time. My hair was ORANGE, the stylist could tell I was upset and asked me if I’d ever considered being a redhead! She then completely avoided me for the rest of the appointment and asked someone else blow dry my hair.
I spoke to the manager about how unhappy I was and they still asked me to pay for the «time» it took to do my hair and that they’d schedule another appointment to have it fixed. I’ve never been back! I don’t know who they paid to win that award.

This is the only salon in Denver I’ll go to. I see Jennifer for all my colors and cuts, and I absolutely love her work. I moved here from out of town and it took me a long time to find someone that I genuinely enjoy seeing for a hair appointment. But I am always so happy when I leave Headlines. The staff is so sweet and the salon is really cute. They care about their customers, and they carry Aveda :) I highly recommend this salon.

Loved my first experience! Got a great haircut from Rebecca! The salon is very professional and you get a hand massage with your color service. Very nice touch. I will defiantly go back!

Rebecca did an amazing job! She consulted, cut and colored my long mane to perfection. AND she did it with such a soothing touch that I was so relaxed that I felt like falling asleep in her chair. She did a great job explaining the products she used on me without being pushy at all (which I greatly appreciate). and I even left with a coupon and a free sample for next time. the salon was clean and conveniently located with great energy. i would highly recommend checking out this salon.

I moved to Denver 5 months ago and started looking for a salon right away. After about a month I found a deal that I couldn’t pass up. The deal was for a free cut ($ 45) with any color ($ 70). I scheduled an appointment with Rebecca and was a little nervous to try someone new. I have naturally curly hair and like to wear it both curly and straight. I was greeted by the receptionist with a friendly smile and was offered a drink right away. I quickly found out that wine was included with my service. This was a nice surprise. Rebecca and I hit it off. She also has naturally curly hair and likes to wear it both straight and curly. The service was great and so were the results.
This was my first Aveda experience and I must say I’m not a huge fan of Aveda. The Aveda products left my hair feeling greasy. This is no reflection on my service or the salon.
I received a $ 5 off coupon for my next service and a 20% off coupon in the mail a few weeks after my fist service. Eight weeks later I returned for a haircut with Rebecca and used my 20% off coupon. She did a wonderful job the second time as well.
I just scheduled my third appointment for a cut and color and look forward to going in. When I called they were kind enough to let me know if I voted for them on Denver’s A List I would receive 20% off my haircut. I love that they offer coupons and discounts frequently. Headline’s is pricier than my salon back home in MI, but because of the great service, discounts and friendly people I continue to come back.
I’m pretty picky about finding a stylist after working in a salon for 6 years and I highly recommend trying Rebecca as yours. The only reason I gave Headlines a 4 instead of a 5 is because of the price.

OMG. After my last hair disaster, I was prepared for the worst. My disclaimer: I have fine hair. For some reason, this is hard for some people… all I want is a January Jonesque bob. That’s it. Well, one of them finally got it right, and it was here. She cut it EXACTLY how I told her to cut it. To a T. And I LOVE it!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE it!
(this hasn’t happened for a while, so excuse me, I am jumping up and down). For those of you wondering why if I loved it I didn’t give it 5 stars, well, gee, I have to wait for a second haircut for perfection– and maybe a good dye job… I am a woman. Hair is sacred.
