We are a special retail project to support the creative economy in Denver and Colorado. 70% of all sales go to the artist or designer to help them grow their businesses. Centrally located in downtown Denver at Denver Pavilions we cater to business travelers and tourists in order to help export Denver’s creative culture to the global community.

History

Established in 2010.

I Heart Denver Store is developed from over 2 years of POP-​Up Store iterations that use donated space to activate Denver’s downtown center with creative vibrant business that generates capital for local artists and designers.

Over the years we have worked with city and state institutions like Create Denver and Colorado Tourism to broker donated spaces and spread the word about the program. The store wouldn’t be what it is today without the generous support of properties like Denver Pavilions.

Samuel has helped to transform the innovative pop-​up store model into a viable prototype for activating vacant space in downtown centers, exporting local culture to tourists and business travelers, promoting sustainable design-​based entrepreneurship, and infusing capital into local small businesses. As the owner of the I Heart Denver store, Samuel returns an unprecedented 70% of sales to the artists whose products he promotes and sells. Westword named the store the Best Place to Always Buy Colorado — 2012, and on March 29, 2012, The Denver Post profiled Samuel in an article titled «I Heart Denver Store Owner Samuel Schimek Has Art in His Heart.»
