History

Established in 1967.

We initially began in Boulder as a handmade leather goods store, making belts, sandals, and handbags among other things — think Easy Rider. That soon morphed into carrying hard to find English and Italian leather goods and then eventually clothing. Some now household brand names made their Colorado (and in some case national debut) at Lawrence Covell: Giorgio Armani, Gianni Versace, Prada in the late 1970s and continued with Ermenegildo Zegna and Hugo Boss in 1980s, and to date Kiton, John Varvatos, Paul Smith, Dries Van Noten, Martin Margiela, Rag and Bone for men among others have all been introduced to our Denver clientele as exclusives.

Lawrence Covell is a place where the term client and friend are interchangeable. A relaxed shopping environment devoid of any high pressure arm twisting sales pitch; or sterile run-of-the-mill sales clerk ignoring you. It is truly about you. Many of our clients/friends come in to simply catch up while having an espresso, glass of wine or cold beer.
