Lyons Towing & Recovery

Lyons Towing… kind of a joke. So, here’s my story. I went out with some friends from out of town to the Cheeky Monk and we parked across the street in the Office Depot Lot. Lots of people already parked there, it’s the weekend, no problem right? Well apparently there was a Roller Derby event at the Filmore and a parking lot attendant showed up to charge for parking. I know this because a friend of mine who showed up later said they were charging for parking.
Well We saw later on that my car wasn’t there anymore so I went over to talk to the attendant and asked her why they were towing cars. She said it was a paid lot that night so anyone who hadn’t paid was getting towed. I told her I was there previous to her setting up an I knew nothing about the event. She told me too bad and told me that if it had been any other night when the lot wasn’t being charged for I would have been ok. She also said that they walked over to the monk to tell them to make an announcement about it. She said they refused which, judging from how friendly and helpful the staff has ALWAYS been at the monk, I don’t really believe.
When we got to the impound lot there were about 10 other people there waiting who had gotten towed from the same lot. They had a kid and a girl (both looked underage to be legally working) adminning the show while the «muscle» just stood around trying to look tough. I guess they figured people would be a little less harsh on the kids… seems a bit exploitive but I guess they were the owners kids so he can do what he wants right?
One of my friends ended up mouthing off to the owner (I’m assuming he was the owner, since he had a White H2 with the license plate «LYONS1») about how it must be nice to have a hummer from taking people’s money. The owner was very condescending and said «Yeah, I own 2 of them and an Escalade… and I also have a half million dollar home.» The last part was particularly funny since I’m from the Bay area so my first thought was ‘hmmm a half million dollar home huh? How’s that starter home working out for you?’ Anyway, after we were all done being impressed by how much money this guy had he went on to tell my friend «Which car is yours, I’ll keep it here until Monday.» When my friend told him he didn’t have his car he said «Ok then, who are you here with. I’ll keep their car until Monday.» and then told his guys «Whoever is with this guy, hold their car until Monday and charge them 2 days storage.» I had actually already paid and was being walked into my car so I didn’t say anything until I was leaving that I was his friend.
When I was driving off one of the thugs came up to my car and said «Hey, tell your friend to come back later tonight if he wants to mouth off.» I asked «Why, what are you gonna do about it?» he said «We’ll beat his ass for mouthing off.» I laughed at the guy and said «yeah ok, I’ll tell him.»
All in all, it was just a bunch of MS13 wannabes towing cars. It was expensive and I’m going to do what I can to recover my money and make things hard on their business but I guess technically they were within the law? But yeah… what does that mean exactly?

Yeaaaaaaah, good luck getting your money back or talking them out of towing you. I was moving into my new apt last winter and parking in a spot for no JOKE ten minutes moving a piece of furniture while my friend was WATCHING my car and he PLEADED with them to wait while he frantically called me, but in the two minutes it took me to get there, they towed me. $ 250, extra for towing on a weekend, welcome to the neighborhood. About a month later my car died at the 7 – 11 down the road so my insurance co called a towing service. Guess who it was. Lyons! N/​S! I sent them away on site. No way was I paying them to tow me to get my car serviced. Watch out for them. No mercy.

These dudes are mean as hell! I got towed (and trust me this is a good story) while on Capitol Hill giving a DIABETIC CAT A SHOT for a friend that was out of town.
It was snowing like crazy and the homeless creepy dudes were out in spades.
I asked if I could get a ride to where they were taking my car and they said nothing. I told them I was afraid and they said nothing. These guys are COLD AS ICE!
I know I was in the wrong, but, geeze give a freezing gal a break!
After calling to where they were, going there, finding out you had to pay $ 250 cash to get your car, going to the local 7 – 11 and coming back to get it… I say SCREW LYONS!
