Metropolitan Ob/Gyn

I just started seeing Dr. Emily Prouse here and she is fantastic! She is super knowledgeable and one of the most relatable doctors I have ever been to. This is my first pregnancy and she answers all of my questions so that I can easily understand everything that is going on. She doesn’t make me feel talked down to or stupid at all, which I really appreciate. The front desk staff is super friendly and accommodating. I’ll have to update this review after my delivery, but so far it’s great!
Yes, parking can be tough due to the construction, but they do have a free valet service to make it easier.

Even though my IDU experience didn’t go as planned as my body didn’t seem to handle it, I was very impressed with the amount of professionalism by Dr Alexandrivic and her staff. They all took great care of me during the process and I highly recommend this practice! Will definitely recommend them to my peers and I will definitely come back. Dr Alexandrovic is an amazing doctor!

I am surprised when I read these reviews! Dr Strubel delivered my son and now that I am expecting my second I wouldn’t go anywhere else. I understand that parking can be difficult but that’s the case with any Denver down to office. I would highly recommend all the Drs at Metropolitan OBGYN for care.

It’s taking me almost two yrs to write this review since my son was born. I am now pregnant again and in search for an OBGYN and its bringing back the memories of my crappy experience here. So, never too late to give feedback! My biggest complaint was the ultrasound tech. Soooo incredibly rude. Treats you like nothing special. I know you do this all day long and you clearly hate your job but put a smile on your face and act positive. Is that really so hard?!? She told me the heartbeat was high and I asked if that was ok and her response was… «It’s beating isn’t it» that was just one of many rude comments. I had been working with Dr. Moore and she was great! So nice and answered all my questions. So nothing bad to say about her. Unfortunately, she was not able to deliver my son. Instead I got Dr. Streuble. She was horrible! I had a couple things I wanted that not super common. 1. I wanted to save my placenta for them to make into pills. I had read all the great benefits and thought I’d try it. I also did not want my son to get vaccinated that day. I wanted to wait to talk to our pediatrician and do his vaccines when he was 2 months old. Yes they were not the most conventional request but I don’t give a crap! It’s her job to respect those request. I got eye rolls and annoyance from her. Also, to make a very long birth story short… My son came like a bat out of hell and they ended up having to stop contraction so my body could relax and he could get his heart rate back up. While I was relaxing she told me she was going to start pitocin to speed things up. Um what??? I’ve only been there for two hours and I was already ⁹¹⁄₂ cm. I didn’t need to speed things up. We needed to relax. I obviously refused and she was super annoyed with me. Im pretty sure she had somewhere else more important to be. All in all my son was born in 6 hrs. I would say that was a short labor for her.

I’ve been meaning to do this for a while now, but after seeing the reviews I was definitely spurred into action! This place is awesome! I moved here in May and a friend told me to come here, and I gotta say it was the best decision ever. I go to see Laura Waters for everything! She is seriously a God send! She takes the time to listen to you, get to know you and help you decide on many different aspects of gynecological care. I can’t speak highly enough of her! I seriously tell all my friends to go see her. I’m not having a baby, but I’ve had a lot of issues with cramps and such my whole life and Laura walked me through different birth control options and even helped me find a primary care doctor, whom I love as well! I highly recommend this place to any young women who needs to get her yearly check up, birth control or anything in between. Laura is non-​judgmental, super easy to talk to and will really help you out! As far as the front desk, I’ve never had a problem, in fact when I went to schedule my IUD placement they were more than accommodating and actually fit me in the day I called! They are always kind and receptive and like I said I’ve never had a problem getting an appointment. Don’t be scared of the reviews, I love this place and Laura is amazing!

I wish I had read these reviews before deciding to have my prenatal care here for my 3^rd pregnancy.
Unfortunately, the experience has been lacking since the beginning. The parking situation is a disaster because of all the construction down there (not their fault, but definitely a factor when considering convenience.) The long hold times on the phone when waiting to schedule an appointment were also a real drawback… and I am not talking about just a few minutes here and there, or even five minutes on occasion. One time, I ended up waiting 20 mins to reschedule an appointment, before finally hanging up in aggravation. Another time I waited 16 mins to schedule and appointment only to be hung up on by mistake by the operator. Consistently, I would wait 10 + mins. Talk about frustrating. They also have some not-​so-​friendly front desk and MAs employed there that make you feel a bit like a number versus an actual patient, as well as a handful of the docs who are lacking a decent bedside manner, which would include Dr. Strubel-​Lagan. Their ultrasound tech is also very… out there… when I started spotting mid-​pregnancy, I had an ultrasound completed to ensure everything was okay and she told me just to relax, breathe and allow «the Earth to do its job…» Whatever that means…
Anyway, This is a BIG practice, so do not go in with the idea that your pregnancy will be an intimate affair in which you will have the opportunity to develop a relationship with your doctor. My experience is that it does not work that way with them.
The final straw was when I was given some news about my pregnancy from Dr. Bevan, whom I had only met that day that left me a bit rattled. I went home with more questions that day than I had come in with. I feel that she was dismissive and I didn’t feel supported, informed, or reassured. She was almost indifferent. I, of course, made the worst mistake by going home and googling my questions and I completely freaked myself out. The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth… and it was really an unpleasant and stressful head-​space to be spending the final 2 months of my last pregnancy.
**I want to add, this is not to say that all the docs or staff are that way. I thought highly of Dr. Moore and Dr. Alexandrovic, but they were always booked solid and I never had any luck getting an appointment with them.
I was 30 weeks into my pregnancy and decided to make the daunting choice of switching practices and I have not looked back. While I value continuity of care and the thought of actually making such a drastic change so late in my pregnancy felt a bit overwhelming, I also really needed to feel as though I was a valued, educated, and empowered patient and that my pregnancy was of importance. I really wanted to have a great experience with this group, but never felt like it was the fit I was seeking.

Unlike every other office I called (unfortunately after the fact), this office requires two visits (and two copays) for an IUD insertion. On top of this, it was two months before I was actually able to schedule an appointment again with my doctor for the follow up visit. This two– appointment system is a terrible disservice to your patients and based on the fact that I ended up going elsewhere for the actual procedure, I am sorry to say that I wasted my time and money at your office.

I have to give this practice 2 stars. I am 6 months pregnant and my husband and i see Dr. Bevan. If I could rank her individually I would give her the 5 stars she deserves. She is compassionate and knowledgeable. We love her!
However, this office is absolutely ridiculous. The office manager is never in and never returns phone calls. My husband and I have received two bills from a collections agency without even receiving bills from the office.
We understood that the first exam would be billed to us & so we waited to receive this bill. In all the appointments we have had, no one told us we had an outstanding balance with this office and you tend to forget it when you have so many appointments you go in for. I have called and left numerous messages and no one returned my calls. Shai is the office manager and clearly is overwhelmed & doesn’t have time management skills to call back patients with billing questions. No one at the front desk knows anything about billing or how to take payments.
I physically went in to pay on our account and they could not tell me where that payment went to. The balances don’t match up and it is a complete MESS!!! I have tried calling their billing department, which is the number Kristal gave me and no one answers or returns calls from there either.
I am very frustrated and upset with this office. I wish Dr. Bevan worked for a more organized office. These billing issues could be the reason we would not return to this office. Hoping it all can get figured out. Just a fair warning to newcomers, make sure you ask for billing statements!

Dr. Alexandrovic is the BEST! The entire staff at Metro OBGYN were always very welcoming and helpful whenever we were there. But Dr. A takes it to a whole new level. Her bedside manner and ability to make you feel like a friend, put my hormonal Momma-​mind at ease. I just wish she would move back to the Kentucky area so I wouldn’t have to find a new doctor the next time I have a baby :-)

We delivered last week and my husband and I can’t speak highly enough of Dr. Kara Alexandrovic, she is a phenomenal doctor and I would strongly recommend her
to anyone. As first time parents and being relatively new to Colorado, we actually «interviewed» two different practices & doctors and instantly loved Dr. A. She was a great communicator from the very first meeting through the entire process. She really listened to what our concerns were and gave straight forward answers in layman terms. We never had to wait long for our appointments and when she was with us it was not rushed. We met with all of the doctors and felt great about having any one of them deliver our baby but we were ecstatic when we found out Dr. A was on call the night we went into labor! We thought the staff was great as well… I called in several times with questions/​concerns over the 9months and was appropriately taken care of each time.
With Metro you deliver at Rose and the labor & delivery nurses there are AMAZING! The whole experience was above & beyond anything we expected for the delivery of our first child and it has everything to do with the whole team at Metro!

I wish I could give this clinic the 5 stars that the last reviewer gave before me.
I probably would have a couple of years ago but no longer.
I have been going to this practice for 8 years for annual exams. In late 2014, my GYN doctor informed me that I was at risk for a certain type of cancer and she would see me on the next annual exam. After doing some research, I decided to be more proactive and seek out a second opinion. It took some time but I finally found a specialist and made an appointment that was 2 months out.
During this time, my elderly mother declined in health and I flew out of state to be with her. The day before I left, I drove to the above clinic and personally signed a release for my medical records to be faxed over to the new doctor’s office. The front desk told me it would be 3 – 4 days before they could get to it but it would be taken care of. The next day I flew out of town and was gone for 3 weeks, the whole time assuming all was well. A week after being back home, I get a call from the new doctors office telling me that for 4 weeks, they have been leaving messages and calling to inquire as to where my records were. Not one person from Metro OB GYN returned or called the new doctors office!!! When I called to ask why this hadn’t been taken care, I was told that my records had not been sent because even though they had the new doctors name and fax… get this… they didn’t have the phone number. That’s right. Metro GYN for 4 weeks didn’t have the wherewithal to look up the new doctor’s number or much less even leave a message for me asking for it. My appointment with the specialist had to be rescheduled another month out because my records did not get faxed in time and As of today, they still wait for my records. If the doctors at Metro can’t hire or manage an efficient office then what does that say about them?
This experience alone is so negligent that obviously I won’t ever return to such poorly run business.

I hope that other people have a better experience here but i will not be going back after what happened to my wife.
My wife was 8 weeks pregnant and began to spot. She started cramping and we felt that we should go to the ER. The on call doctor told us if it got worse we should go to the er, so when it did we went in.
They told us that we needed to see our doctor Monday morning because we were a classified a threatened miscarriage.
We called Monday morning and they did get us in that day. When we arrived we did not have a longer than normal weight and i will say the receptionists were nice and professional.
We were taken into the Ultrasound room and that is where the horrible experience started. The technician asked for the back story and immediately said «sounds like you had a miscarriage. I think she said hello before she told us that but it may have been the first thing out of her mouth. My wife explained that we saw an embryo and that the doctor in the er said confirmed the hgc levels seemed ok but we still needed to come in for a follow up, but she wasn’t having it. She started talking about the fetus in past tense, and this was before we even had an ultrasound.
Why even give us an ultrasound if you «the technician» already know whats going on. As she was doing the ultrasound she said there was nothing there but, «your ovaries look great». Thanks, we just lost our baby, but thank god the ovaries look great.
She also told my wife that she could clean up and «the tissues were on the counter» as she pointed all the way across the room. It doesn’t sound out of the ordinary but the way she said it, she showed absolutely no compassion. Most unprofessional person i have met at Rose Medical Center. I refrained from calling her a name as she left because i was still in shock from the information we received as well as her demeanor.
We saw Dr. Bevan who was much nicer and she did explain everything to us and answered our questions. She made the visit better and said she would cancel the appointment we had 2 days for our first check in. We asked if we needed to stop by the receptionist but she said not to and she would take care of it.
My wife received a call this morning to prep her for our appointment tomorrow. When my wife said no, it was no longer needed, the receptionist then suggested that they et up a 12 week appointment and that she should look forward to it. My wife then had to explain that we were in the office yesterday learning of the miscarriage and she would no longer need any appointments for our child that we no longer had. Thanks for calling my wife to remind her of that.
No matter where the disconnect happened this was the icing on the cake and we will be leaving to go to another office.
I’m sure people will have better experiences than this and i hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else.
Maybe Metro Ob/​Gyn will see this and help their technician show some more compassion. Just because you have witnessed a lot of miscarriages doesn’t mean we deserved to be treated with such disregard and unprofessionalism.

I don’t even know how to score this review after my previous review. My rescheduled appointment was for today at 2pm. I received a call Just after 1pm that the doctor had an emergency and needed to reschedule my appointment. The soonest they can get me in now is February 18^th. This just keeps getting more and more annoying…

Don’t waste your time.
I arrived on time to my appointment and was told they need it to reschedule because they were too busy in the back… Well, the front was empty and now reading the reviews I can tell why.
When I asked what were my options they suggested a later appointment with a different doctor «but I need it to call before hand just in case she has to leave for a labor patient» or I could have my appointment done by «a nurse» who was describe as «really really good». Seriously? If that’s the way they treat new patients can’t imagine what happened afterwards.
Awful. Disrespectful. Unprofessional

I am surprised at so many negative reviews of this practice and I need to put in my two cents. I have been to this practice many times for OB/​GYN issues and I have been nothing but impressed with the professionalism and work of the office. I had two emergency GYN surgeries last year in 2014, and Dr. Bevan handled them immediately and well. She always got me scheduled immediately for emergency appointments, and that is a plus. The staff there is very friendly and I have had little wait times. I found this practice through my insurance and originally went there for a pregnancy, which ended in surgery. I have returned for different gynecological issues and birth control, and she always is supportive of my decisions. As far as arriving late, I work for a primary care office and I understand that people arrive late, but it does mess up the entire day, and I have been to a lot of specialists that have the same time frame for being late, if not more strict! If you are going to be late, reschedule! People should plan on allowing more time to get to appointments. I am very happy with this office and Dr. Bevan that I plan on using her for my OB doctor when I plan of getting pregnant. I hope people read this and give the office a chance because I love Metropolitan OB/​GYN, and the issues that people have with this office are usually their problem and not something the office did. 5 star rating for a great experience, EVERY TIME!

While searching for their phone number to call my doctor, I came across the low rating. I’d like to add mine for due to the fact that I’ve moved around a lot, and have many medical issues and this office is BY FAR the best I’ve ever been to. They must have changed something drastic in their policies in the last year (other than annual file updates which is fairly standard in the medical world) because everyone that has answered the phone has always been helpful, the doctors, nurses, and staff are continuously prompt with phone calls back and their availability (even last minute) is amazing. My main doctor is Dr. Bevan who is amazing, kind and helpful. I’ve also seen Dr. Moore and Laura Waters who are just as great. I recommend this practice on a regular basis and will continue to do so.

I went to Metro on the recommendation of a friend who is a doctor. She recommended Lesley Bevan who wasn’t available when I made my appointment so I went to Suzanne Strubel-​Lagan instead. Most. Condesending. Doctor. Ever.
I was 31 at the time of my first appointment and she lectured me on my ticking biological clock. Thinking I needed to somehow give her some kind of explanation as to why I didn’t have children up to this point I just said that I wasn’t mentally, or emotionally ready until recently and that I was well aware that it may already be too late for me, which I’ve accepted. I felt like it was a power struggle trying to talk to her. Cold bedside banner. It was like she was a frenemy, trying to put on a nice face but the hostility towards me was palpable. It was a big turn off.
The next year for my annual I called and scheduled with Lesley Bevan instead, not wanting a lecture about my barren womb after another year. She was much better and things went fine and I should’ve gone to her to begin with as my friend suggested.
Fast forward about a year and I started getting robo appointment reminders calls. My family doctor recommended that because of my age and health history that I don’t need yearly pap exams. So I skipped my appointment with Metro. The robo calls didn’t stop. Roughly every month, sometimes multiple times a month (even twice in a day one time), I would receive a robo call about my annual physical. After a few months I finally called the office and asked to be removed from that list. They asked if I was still a patient and I said yes but I’m just going to my pap this year because my family doctor said the standards for women my age have changed. They said they would remove me from the list.
Fast forward a few months (which is now the better part of a year) and I start getting the reminder robo calls AGAIN. I called the office again and asked why I wasn’t removed, the receptionist stated that she didn’t know and would have to go to the front and ask. «so there is no guarantee that I’m going to be removed this time either» I asked. «Honestly, I don’t have the answer. I’m sorry.»
And that was the end of my experiences at Metro. Never to return.
** Update: 2 hours after writing this review I received another robo call appointment reminder. I called the office again and told them again to remove me. I have reported this to the FCC.

Seeing the negative reviews I just want to weigh in. I see these docs and saw them for my recent pregnancy. I came down with a life threatening pregnancy condition. Three doctors in the practice were involved in my hospital care. They were on top of my care and communicated well with one another in a true crisis. They kept me and baby healthy and alive. (I’d give one more star, but I have to agree the desk staff could be more courteous and efficient… A small thing in light of what the doctors did for me).

I have seen Dr. Bevan twice, I went recently for the second time. It was a year since my last appointment (it’s my annual), and when I arrived, I was handed a stack of paperwork to fill out again, apparently it’s an annual procedure. Perhaps they could consider a waiver confirming the last information was still current? One of the pages consisted of my agreeing to their late procedure, which outlines the consequences if you’re late. I waited in the waiting room over 20 minutes, then in the examination room for another 25 minutes. So they can run late, that’s fine.
Dr. Bevan asked if anything had changed, I mentioned my migraines were better, to which she was a bit unnerved because migraine medication and estrogen based birth control should not be taken together. I responded that I had repeatedly provided information about both medications I take to multiple physicians (including her last year, I’m pretty sure), and no one had mentioned any concerns about the combination. She told me to go see a neurologist. I asked if there was a different birth control I could take. She paused and said yes, that would be the better way to go, and gave me a different prescription. I had to ask, it was not volunteered. I asked how she decided on gynecology, and she said she only wanted to deliver babies, she didn’t want to do gynecology, but oh well, that went with delivering babies. I think she would be a decent ob if you’re expecting, but my experience with her gyn experience has been disappointing.
She told me she’d meet me outside for the new prescription, then came in two minutes later my mid-​dressing, thrust the prescription into my hand and started to walk off. I said wait and asked her a bit more about the new script, which she answered, turned her back, and walked off.
I will not go back, I thought maybe she was just a little moody last year, but it was more unpleasant this year. I do not recommend metropolitan ob/​gyn, in my opinion such a personal experience should be treated with a bit more respect.

Well, my first experience here, back in October 2013, was great. I was able to fill out my paper work before hand and absolutely loved my Dr. Kara Alex.
I returned today (3÷6÷14) for a consult to start taking a birth control. I was late, exactly 15 minutes so before hand I tried calling to ensure the staff I was coming. No answer. I am the type of person who 100% understands that timeliness is important but unfortunately life tends to happen to us unexpectedly. Upon my arrival (exactly within their time frame) the receptionist went around for a few minutes talking to someone behind closed doors. Once she returned she had another receptionist call me over to the counter. She said I was late and would have to reschedule. I again asked what their time frame was for late patients and they said 15 minutes. Relived that I arrived at exactly 3:15 I said ok well then I made it. She then looked at the computer and said, no it’s 3:18… ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I am very disappointed with the service I received, or lack there of. Oh and as a bonus. They told me I could research different birth controls and just call and have them call it in. Oh great, glad you prescribed me to prescribe myself with drugs. Wonder if that’s «best practice» anyway, after that day I’m ready to move on.
Only receiving 2 stars because I really liked Kara. Wish she would move somewhere else!!!
