History

Established in 1999.

«Like the keystone of a bustling bridge, the corner spot of any neighborhood shopping district is the most important piece, and Mondo Vino has held up well at the intersection of 32nd Avenue and Lowell Boulevard since 1999, when sommelier Duey Kratzer opened for business. The elegant liquor store was one of the first of a new wave of shops and restaurants to revitalize Highland Square, and it has attracted throngs of customers with an upscale but accessible selection of beer, wine and spirits, and a staff that recognizes faces and is quick with a suggestion. We just love mondo Vino for our beer wine and spirits! Always a friendly, helpful staff! Our dog is welcome which is nice if we are out and about and want to stop in to buy something before we head home. Locals who live in the highlands get a discount and they have such a great selection!

I really can’t say enough good things about this place! Everyone is super friendly and knowledgable. They have a great selection and are always willing to offer competent and honest recommendations. It’s truly always a pleasure to shop here and I wish I could come to just hang out!

Mondo Vino is Denver’s best wine and liquor store without question.
Dewey and his team are experts in everything they sell – from the legendary reds of Burgundy and Piemonte to local Colorado beer to esoteric scotches and spirits. It’s always an educational experience, and the staff are honest and accommodating, not like the used-​car-​salesmen you find at some other stores.

What an awesome liquor store! The staff was really friendly and I think it might have been the owner that invited me to come in with our dog while my husband shopped. The hubs was impressed with the whisky selection. It is a small detail but I really liked the pricing system too — bottle caps with the price. It was classy and well put together and we have just found our new go to liquor store.

Best wine store in Denver! The people working there are so friendly and knowledgable about all the wines. They have a great selection and we have never bought a bottle we didn’t like. They also have wine tastings every Friday and Saturday night which is a great way to try some of them before purchasing.

Best liquor store in Denver. Went here a few days ago when I needed champagne for a mimosa brunch and I was in a SUPER hurry. As soon as I walked in I was greeted, I told them what I needed, and I was in and out in 10 minutes with everything that I needed AND at a great price! I will definitely be back!

Amazing store! The personalized service I’ve received on the phone as well as in the store is incredible. One employee spent a good 10 minutes with me giving me information about their bourbon selection. Can’t wait to return!

Wine everywhere and a helpful staff. I’ve never had a bad experience at Mondo Vino and yes, I’ve been quite a few times.
When I’m in a hurry, I will just go to the counter and say, «I need a wine that will go well with _​_​_​_​_​_​_​, but not too _​_​_​_​_​_​_​but with a hint of _​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​with a price range of _​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​.» He will then show me 2 – 3 bottles and explain all them. Then I choose one and enjoy it at home/​dinner party/​etc full with compliments. I’m never dissappointed. And sometimes I just go in and wander around and get a few random bottles. They are some bottles under $ 20 and over $ 50 and divided up by region.
They also sell beer and liquor, but I usually stick to the wine here.

I dig Mondo Vino. They have helpful suggestions, weekly wine tastings, a good mix of local, national, and international products. Most recently, they were suggesting a Spanish dry cider for my gluten-​free friend.
Anyway, I enjoy a place with niche products and staff that seem to know their products. I find I receive better customer service this way. It also helps that their selection is small and select.

It’s really great to find a small, independent store that doesn’t gouge you and still has a good selection. I came in here completely on a whim when in hte highlands and was super glad I did.
I really like the way the store is set up. Wine is in the middle of the store, arranged by country (which they make obvious by displaying the country of origin’s flag on the respective display). The liquor is organized within alcohol type, by specific type. In the whiskey area, they have all the bourbons, ryes, etc. together, and then organize them by maker. They have some harder to find items, like cask strength whiskeys, and small batch bourbons. I found a small batch bourbon here and decided to get it as an anniversary gift for my husband. One of the owners helped me check out and even guessed it was an anniversary gift.
There is a pretty above-​average beer selection, with the craft brews you’d expect. They have some bombers and big bottles of the rarer beers by local brewers, but they do not do make-​your-​own six packs. It’s probably good we don’t live near here, because this is the type of little store I can easily spend too much time and money in.

Obviously much smaller than the liquor megamarts that I love so very much but the helpful staff and incredible selection for the store size more than make up for it.
They have a ton of beers — about equivalent to any larger store even though this is more of a wine shop. They also have a really nice selection of microdistilled spirits including some non-​conventional vodka flavors (honey, botanical, chipotle… I’m salivating just thinking about them).
The wine selection is a tad intimidating, but that’s what the staff is for! They obviously know their stuff but will speak to you rather than down to you when making recommendations.
As others have mentioned, prices are a bit on the high side but worth it considering the selection and service.

The Wüetz Riesling is Trocken and tasty.
Fabulous selection of cognacs, liquors, etc.
Very good service. Knowledge with a smile.
You pay a little bit more and it is worth it.
