Specialties
MAC is a high standard urban Montessori school that offers a full-day, year-round innovative early childhood and family educational experience. We serve children ages 8 weeks through 6 years old, and our goal is to provide an educational environment that serves the whole child, where he/she can grow intellectually, emotionally, socially, and physically. Our curriculum is designed on a continuum of developmental education that follows each individual child. Our educational philosophy follows the Montessori Method of education, but is constantly expanded through further studies and research in education.
The Montessori environment is specifically designed around an individual’s distinct learning style, allowing progress at one’s own pace, with guidance and support from teachers. It is important to note that Montessori education is a guiding philosophy that incorporates many different curricula. This allows specific curriculum guidelines to be developed for each individual child.
History
Established in 2002.
The Montessori Academy of Colorado grew from the ashes of the now-closed Montessori International Children’s House. A group of parents, concerned about maintaining the integrity of their children’s Montessori education, formed a non-profit school in the same building as their predecessor. The parents and staff slowly re-built the program from the ground up.
In 2005, MAC bought a new building and expanded the program significantly, becoming one of the most sought-after schools in Denver. In 2012, we expanded again to include a Primary half-day program. Overseen by a Board of Directors, we currently have 60+ staff and just over 200 students, all while maintaining low adult to child ratios, and a tight-knit community of families and staff. Children move on from MAC with confidence and enthusiasm for learning that leads them to success in a variety of academic settings. MAC is where the potential of each child has been nurtured since 2002!
