NuHu Mongolian Express

If you’re desperate, starving, craving asian food and are downtown without a car, then this is your best option. I directed myself here because this place had the highest number of Unilocal stars (in comparison to the nearby burger joint BURGERFI and the salad place MAD Greens).
Whoever wrote that this is the McDonald’s of asian food wasn’t too off the mark… let’s bump it up to Chipotle. It was good for a quick in and out dinner, but definitely had a sad mall feel to it.
The staff wears shirts with nonsense scribble that sort of looks like a Character and english words underneath that say «this doesn’t mean anything!», which sort of aptly sums up this place: they took all the markings of what makes Mongolian food and depleted it of any real meaning or authentic flavor. They have a decent sauce selection though… it’s not all bad.
And yes, the roti is good. It likely has enough sodium to kill a slug, but it’s yummy.

Definitely the McDonald’s of Mongolian food places. I am not digging the staff or the idea, but it is a fast food place. They have fresh veggies for every dish, but it is intended on being fast serving. The place is nice and reminds me of Tokyo Joe’s or Panda Express. The food wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t the same quality as a real authentic Mongolian place.
The staff was super friendly, but two out of three orders were wrong. The garlic glad bread they serve with every meal was really good, I really liked it, but I like super salty and super garlicky things.
Not bad, but not exceptional. Good quick service.

We were trying to think of a different place to lunch and ended up at NuHu Mongolian Grill. What a pleasant surprise! Both my sister and I got the Pad Thai bowl and it was fresh, lots of crunchy veggies, great noodles and wonderful pad Thai sauce which wasn’t too sweet. We each got an egg roll which we didn’t need given the generous portion in the bowl. Wonderful flatbread! We’ll definitely go back to NuHu and think you’ll like it too.

There are some really great things about this place but unfortunately, the food just doesn’t do it for me. I’ve tried twice and it was just ok — not really great at all. Maybe I’m picking the wrong dishes or options. I love me some Mongolian BBQ but so far the flavors here just aren’t up to snuff.
I will say that the location is awesome and convenient. It’s really easy to find and there is generally parking available. This is a decent addition to the neighborhood. Also, the staff are so nice and cool and helpful. The employees really go out of their way for their customers and it shows.
When you get down to it the food is meh, the service is great so there you go.

Had dinner this evening. Ordered the Saucy Szechuan w/​pork, regular size; $ 9.71.
Great meal, fresh veggies and the sauces were excellent. And nice and hot when served. Very good condiment bar.
Service was excellent, everyone was friendly and informative. Very clean and hope it stays that way.
One suggestion, when time allows, ask the customers at the tables how everything is.

(I decided to finally make an account to give people a fair warning about this place.)
Four visits. I’ve given these guys four different tries and I have no intention of coming back.
I would have gone for 1 star, but the food is decent, not GOOD, just decent.
PRICE: You’re looking to pay at least $ 10+/ bowl (without a drink). Granted the food is filling, but I have other alternatives that are a little cheaper or the same price and they’re right within the area. The price is not the issue with this place… stay tuned.
ATMOSPHERE: Daddy hit mommy vibes sums it up. Everyone behind the counter seems tense, the customers are impatiently waiting for service to catch up, and the physical enviornment is pretty generic. Every visit I encounter mis-​matched orders, slower service than other fast food spots (like Illegal Petes or Chipotle), and a totally unorganized system of communication behind bar. I assumed that since they’re fairly new they’re still getting everything figured out, but months after being open it’s still the same chaotic show. Even in their slower hours the guy who appears to be the manager is trying to orchestrate the show, but I don’t think he knows what he’s doing.
FOOD: It’s filling and they seem to cater to most alternative diets. That said, the food is bland. I’ve tried multiple items on the menu and they all seem to be adulterated with sauce and nothing else. I’ve even asked for reduced amounts and still ended up just tasting sauce — a friend went sauceless and the food showed it’s true colors… generic lunchroom-​like food. As a side note, two of the four times i’ve been here I’ve walked out with a stomach ache… no i didn’t eat too fast or too much (I never fully finished my meals), nor did I eat anything I am allergic to.
OVERALL: I am not trying to bring these guys down, but this place is like a siren. It sings it’s pretty songs, lulls you off Broadway with the promise of solid Mongolian/​Asian Fusion fast-​food only to leave you disappointed and with a stomach ache. Their are better places for your money, given all the food options in that area I recommend opting for something else.

Always on point, the staff is always super kind and helpful if you have any questions. The food is always delicious, the roti bread is addicting, and the service is quick and easy. Can’t have many complaints about that. I have been here many times now and this place has yet to disappoint! I love telling more people about this place as it’s the only one in town and I hope they stay open and have much more success in the future!

I was so excited to try this place. I walked away with a very bland dinner. I did the «make your own» and the sauce was very bland «Szechuan hot». The bread that they give is good, that might have been the best thing. I think that the other problem is that the restaurant appeared to be dirty. I don’t know if anyone had wiped down the tables in a while and the floor was sticky. I can put up with ok food, but coupled with what appears to be a dirty seating area. Thumbs down.

I write to you this review from my office toilet because I have been plagued with stomach-​cramping, butt-​squirting, projectile-​vomiting food poisoning from this joint. Have you ever put a mentos into a diet soda? Because that’s the kind of chemical reaction forcing its way out of my body.
My boyfriend, on the other hand, did not get food poisoning, but he did order the spiciest dish on the menu, transforming him into a human flamethrower this morning. A hot and fiery river of hate exited his bowels at the speed of sound, causing the toilet water to not boil, but definitely steam.
Roti bread was pretty solid.

The food is fresh and fast.
Typical asian food. Full of flavor.
I ve been here couple of times and always sane good and pleasant experience.
You get a great value for your meal.

Tried it twice. The first time, I ordered the Nomad’s Fire with pork; the second time, I ordered the Teriyaki Warrior with tofu. Both were terrible.
The core ingredients of each dish were fine – neither exceptional nor disappointing. The service was friendly and efficient. The space itself is also generally agreeable, if somewhat generic.
The problem for me – and it’s a BIG problem – is the sauce. The combination of sauces in the Nomad’s Fire had plenty of heat, which was fine; beyond that, the only other flavor was a truly awful aftertaste. I can’t pinpoint the particular ingredient (s) that would produce this aftertaste, but as for the flavor itself, «sweet-​sour-​rotten» comes to mind. Again, I’ve no idea where it comes from – whether it’s some kind of preservative or something intrinsic to the sauce itself. Whatever the reason, it made everything in the bowl taste rather awful. Edible? Yes, but far from enjoyable.
A month or two later, I found I was craving something Asian and/​or veggie-​centric, so I decided to give this place another shot. I figured I’d try a different menu option, change up the veggies a bit, and see what happens. Unfortunately, the Teriyaki Warrior bowl had that same dreadful aftertaste. It’s the opposite end of the spectrum, heat-​wise, from the Nomad’s Fire, so I didn’t expect to have the same issue; nevertheless, that same, awful flavor burst through from the first bite. I found myself savoring the Roti bread as a means of clearing the flavor of the sauce from my palate.
I’m willing to accept the possibility that my situation could be akin to the way certain people react to cilantro: some love it, while others consider it the soapy/​chemical-​y herb from hell.
Regardless, that doesn’t change the fact that I really, really disliked the meals I’ve eaten here.

Can I just get a huge order of Roti bread please? Seriously. It’s one of the best things I’ve had in awhile and while my first time at NuHu was an awesome experience, the Roti bread is what stands out the most.
Stopped here for lunch today and for a beautiful spring day in Denver, it has a good sized crows. It’s like the Chipotle concept, fast casual, pick your bowl and add one then they throw it on some bad ass grill and soon enough your order is up. I didn’t feel like thinking so I picked their chicken pad Thai and even though it comes with set veggies, you can add more to the mix (love). A few minutes later my bowl and complimentary Roti bread were up. The Roti bread is soft, fried and salty and basically a gift from the gods. The chicken pad Thai was tasty, not like authentic pad Thai but flavorful none the less. My only beef was that they don’t have chopsticks. Noodles with chop sticks is always better than noodles with a fork. This would be a great place to stop after a day at the museum since it’s right around the block!

Great food, and amazing service! I highly recommend this place. You can customize everything so it’s exactly what you want and it all comes with «Roti» flatbread. Good sized portions and affordable too.
And did I mention the awesome service? Super friendly and nice people help guide you though the ordering process (think chipotle but Mongolian) and go above and beyond to make it a good experience. My gift card wasn’t working when we went there last and the manager was completely great about it and comped the meal. Thanks NuHu!

Loved this new fast casual restaurant on Broadway. The food was great quality, veggies were fresh and everything was cooked perfectly, hate it when servers at these sort of places overcook the meat beyond recognition. I got the small bowl and it was HUGE! Thank god I didn’t give in to my hunger and order the regular size. The staff was super friendly and everything came out pretty fast while still being excellent quality.
Also, each bowl comes with a Roti flatbread. I’m still not sure what it exactly is but it was delicious and addicting… Gotta return for more stir fry meals and more flatbread!

I was excited to find that another restaurant was opening up next to burgerfi. I am somewhat new to the whole Mongolian BBQ style of cooking. I decided to give them a try one day for lunch. I walk in the door and the space is modern and casual fast food style asian restaurant. That works for me. Except the line was practically out the door, but maybe that’s a good sign.
They have a variety of bowls to choose from that have been made up by the restaurant. Or you can create your own. I like spicy food so I decided on the nomads fire with tofu. It is their spiciest dish. I figured since this is a fast food style chain there would be a pretty good chance it was not that spicy. I was mistaken! The nomads fire definitely brings the heat if that is what you are looking for. I prefer to enjoy their bowls over noodles instead of rice. I have also tried the bbq bowl with chicken and it was a little too sweet for my tastes, also I prefer the taste of their tofu. Honey likes the pad Thai with shrimp. He said it has the perfect balance of sweet and spicy.
I can’t wait to keep trying more of the dishes at NuHu. Check it out if you are on a time crunch and looking for some yummy asian.

I love this type of restaurant, but I was expecting something similar to BD’s downtown. I ordered a spicy bowl as recommended by the restaurant, and it was just meh. The biggest disappointment was that it came with rice instead of noodles. I accept full responsibility for my inability to order to my tastes. One really good feature they have is a self serve toppings bar with lots of goodies, including cilantro and peanuts. Yumm.

What a great addition to the Denver metro area! Freshly cooked food with a very good portion size. I may be tiny, but I’m usually one of those that are complaining about portion size. There is definitely not that problem here! I forgot what dish I ordered, but it was suppose to come with one of the spiciest sauces and the staff was nice enough to switch it out for a more mild sauce. I love the thought of spicy foods, but my body just can’t handle it (bummer). The egg rolls are not bad, but I really liked the Roti flatbread. You can dip it in some of the sauce in your bowl and it tastes pretty darn good.
The staff is wonderful, they were all so nice and helpful with picking sauces and customizing it to the way I wanted my dish to be. Very nice job NuHu, I will be back for you!

I received an invite to their pre-​opening day serving the local area.
My friend and I arrived and were greeted warmly by an employee that told us about their menu and answered questions.
They have several signature bowls and then you can make your own with no limit on the number of vegetables you want to add.
I got the Gobi BBQ– it was really good and I ate it all except for the surplus of pineapple. There must have been a half a cup of pineapple I didn’t eat.
A large bowl runs $ 9 and came with a flat bread. I liked the seasoning on the bread.
