History

Established in 1986.

Paris on the Platte opened in a desolate warehouse district in 1986 as a late night coffeehouse and used bookstore. It was a direct descendant of coffeehouses from the sixties and seventies, especailly Muddy Waters of the Platte.

Over the years, and in the midst of an ever growing and changing city and neighborhood, Paris has transformed into a café and bar, a gathering place for local residents, with 2 sides offering music, room for private evnts, a full bar, full coffee bar, and a menu serving early morning to late night food choices.

Paris was at the forefront of offering free internet to its customers, and it is still a great place to hold work meetings, study groups, or private parties.

Paris is truly a local flavor in Denver, an original family owned business unique to its neighborhood and city.

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

My now ex husband, Jeff, and I opened Paris in 1986, expanding it several times over the years. It was originally a bookstore, moved from Muddy’s, which Jeff owned. We raised our 3 kids, almost literally, at Paris. All have worked for the café as teenagers or college students. I see Paris on the Platte as a reflection of my desire to serve others with warmth, good service, and good food and drink.
