History

Established in 2011.

After talking about it for 20 years, chefs/​owners and cousin’s Pam Read and Gary Fink finally took the leap and opened Pary’s on 28th in June of 2011. Having owned her own catering company for the past 6 years, Pam is continuing to cater events out of the Pary’s kitchen as well as spending 5 nights a week floating between the kitchen and the floor. Gary, former founder of Pudge Brothers Pizza, has quit his law practice in Nevada and moved himself and two dogs back home to Denver to follow his dream. Pary’s is in a small space in the heart of the Park Hill neighborhood at 28th Avenue between Elm and Fairfax in the space where Satchels was prior.

Gary grew up in Lakewood. At the tender age of 10 he became interested in cooking and the culinary arts. In high school he attended the Culinary Arts program at Warren Tech. To help pay for college at Northern Colorado and Rutgers University, he took a job as sous chef at Denver Louis in the old May D&F building downtown. Gary stayed at Rutgers past his undergraduate tenure and received a J.D. from the Rutgers School of Law. He returned to Colorado in 1991 for vacation, planning to head back east and start his legal career. But food got the best of Gary. While in Denver, he met up with an old friend and collaborated on a chain of pizza delivery restaurants. In 2000 Gary left the business and moved to Las Vegas to practice law. After 11 enjoyable years in Las Vegas, Gary has decided to return to Denver, ready to begin his next culinary adventure

This restaurant is in a somewhat odd location or perhaps it is an up and coming location. Regardless, it is worth driving to it. The prices are decent, the food is delicious, the ambiance is so-​so, and the waitress is good. We got in on a Saturday morning for brunch with five people with no problem and no wait. There were always empty tables even though the restaurant is small. I would return.

After reading all the wonderful Secret Supper-​Brunch Edition reviews, I knew I had to try Pary’s out, especially since it is a hop, skip and a jump away from my house… I had no idea this place existed. Thanks, Unilocalers, for bringing it to my attention!
I had some family in town and I already had it set in my mind that I wanted to take them to Pary’s. My brothers only stipulations? Must have pancakes (his pregnant wife was craving pancakes) and no lines (he is so effing impatient). He noticed they had banana nut pancakes on their menu, so he called ahead to see if they would make regular pancakes for her… they kindly obliged. Having never been there, I had no idea what the Saturday morning brunch crowd would be like. We took a chance and were the only ones there… SCORE! I had already decided, based on the Secret Supper reviews, that I wanted the crab cake benny with bottomless mimosas. Sadly, I struck out there… those were offered for that special occasion only. The server assured me that their mimosas were delicious and strong, so I wasn’t in need of refills… and she was correct, one gave me a little breakfast buzz. I opted for the croque madame… a grilled ham sandwich with gruyère mornaise and dijon on sourdough and topped with an over-​easy egg. There were even some baby greens on the side with a light citrus vinaigrette. I was pleased with my meal. Mom had the huevos rancheros per the recommendation of the server. I stole a bite and the spicy New Mexico green chile sauce was as delicious as she had described it.
The service was warm, but not overbearing. The space is pretty small, but comfortable… large groups would not work well here. I will certainlly be back to try more brunch items, dinner and definitely more mimosas.

Wonderful and cozy night. Very small — maybe 6 – 7 tables. Went tonight and we were the only table there at closing on a Friday. I have the shrimp and Havarti grits that was a tad bit more spicy than I expected, but full and packing a southeast punch while still fine dining. My wife had the ravioli with truffle sauce. Small servings, but you don’t need any more with such richness and taste. Finished with the banana cream pie which was very nice. Almost forgot to mention the break at the beginning — I’m picky with bread and usually toss aside bread at the beginning of a meal at most restaurants. This was very good and extremely fresh. Service was good. I hope for them that more people find this, but that I can still get a table here. I think the location is a bit of a turn off for some people — next to sort of junky liquor store. The food is great, but it’s still a very relaxed atmosphere.

Pary’s is a true hidden gem. Their menu is simple and full of surprises. Starting with the tomato gazpacho, I was amazed at the freshness of the tomatoes and vegetables. As soon as I was done, I wanted more.
Moving on to the main course, I had asked the chef if he could make their carne asada tacos «veggie» and of course he said yes. Wow, what an amazing burst of flavor!
Because we were there for a birthday party, the kitchen had made a special carrot cake for the guests. This was the end to a perfect meal.
And I didn’t even mention their amazing homemade bread…
This place is a keeper. We will be going back again!

This restaurant was surprisingly empty on a Thursday night, which just seems wrong, so I thought I’d write this review.
Tiny, cute restaurant.
Great service – friendly and attentive, but not invasive.
Delicious food. Their homemade bread was served warm with an oil, vinegar, and herb mix for dipping. Super delicious, and I heard someone ask for and get butter. We started with the crab cakes, which were delicious. I had the filet mignon with caramelized onion mashed potatoes and wild mushroom ragout. The potatoes were amazing. My friend had the halibut with roasted tomatoes, capers, cannellini beans, kalamata olives, and a pea purée – such a colorful, flavorful dish. I was a little jealous, but just a little because I was so happy about the potatoes. The blueberry crisp was also super delicious.
I loved everything, except the filet mignon, which I liked a lot, just didn’t love. My friend gave it the thumbs up, so maybe I’m just not a filet mignon person. I’ve actually never had it before. Parts of the outside of the filet mignon tasted just a touch charred, but the inside was really delicious; I’d requested medium rare, and it was.
They gave us both a bag of three lavender sugar cookies to take home. And I got both bags because my friend’s trying to be low carb. My lucky day! I’m saving the cookies for coffee tomorrow.
The brunch menu looks delicious, so I plan to be back for brunch, and dinner again, and again. The menu changes pretty frequently.
Go! Pary’s shouldn’t be mostly empty on a Thursday night.

While I appreciate dinner at Pary’s and I’m reluctant to write this review for fear of creating lines, brunch at Pary’s is where it’s at. The menu is simple, but with something for everyone I’d guess. And it’s simplicity is well done. Nick and I head here for breakfast/​brunch fairly often and I have yet to have a meal that I didn’t really enjoy. Some menu items I’ve sampled include:
— The Spinach Salad — spinach, tomatoes, goat cheese, and bacon bits with warm bacon vinaigrette and a poached egg
— Steak and Eggs — a 6 oz. house-​cut ribeye steak, 2 eggs, choice of toast or muffin with what I think is homemade jam
— Cheese Grits with Sausage — Havarti cheese grits served with house-​made sausage and a creamy sausage gravy
— The simple American Breakfast — 2 eggs, bacon or sausage, home fries, and toast
They also have a couple of kids menu items, coffee that is served in a French Press, and delicious mimosas (they put a bit of raspberry liquor in there to make it a little sweeter.
It’s a fairly tiny place, but the service is always sweet, the food is always good, and I have yet to have to wait for a table which is important when you’re eating with an infant in tow and you are always hangry before your first meal like me.

Came here for breakfast before venturing out for the Park Hill Garden Walk. We had some great french press coffee, and tried:
— Corned beef hash with eggs and toast
— Omelette with ham, gruyère, spinach, scallions, and bell pepper
— Havarti cheese grits with house made sausage (I asked for, and received a half portion to share)
Everything was delicious, and we finished every morsel. It’s so nice to have a place like this literally around the corner from me. I can’t wait to come back for dinner!

Pary’s has been the «to do» list since they opened. Being walking distance is always a plus in Park Hill, so we finally made the short jaunt on Friday night. It seems like everyone had the same idea as the dining room was full and everyone seemed to have just sat down when we arrived. It was a nice evening a being only a few blocks from home we were in no rush, and being indecisive probably worked to our benefit as well. The waiter gave us a few recommendations and we ordered the roasted pears and mushroom galette as starters, and the duck stroganoff and butternut squash ravioli. I was a little skeptical about the duck dish, but it proved to really tasty, and the duck was cooked well. Just one thing, the prices aren’t expensive, but they could dish out some noodles in the stroganoff. The girlfriend loved the ravioli. With a beer and a glass of wine the bill was fairly inexpensive, which made the chilly walk home that much warmer.
We’ll definitely be back.

Husband loved their wonderful Steak with Enchiladas. I had upset stomach — the chef offered to put together chicken noodle soup (wasn’t on the menu). It was very tasty and hit the comfort food spot. If that’s not great service, don’t know what is! We will definitely be back. May have to try the brunch on Sat or Sun — that menu looked awesome as well.

Went here for the first time last night with friends. They were just starting their new fall menu. I am sooooo happy to have a neighborhood gem back in the area (site of the old Satchel’s Market)!!! Between the 4 of us we started with the mushroom galette, roasted pear and the soup de jour (corn chowder). After trying them all, I couldn’t decide which I liked the most, possibly the smokey corn chowder. For my entrée I had the pork chops. I was very tempted to try the duck stroganoff, but I try to follow a lower-​carb diet, so the noodles were out. The pork chop was cooked perfectly and so savory/​sweet. I asked for it to be medium rare and it was just as I was hoping. We had 2 bottles of the Temprenillo wine which paired wonderfully with everything. The only disappointment was that they were out of the apple crisp, but gave us a bag of lemon-​lavender cookies with our bill that were plenty of dessert. And… best of all, with tip, our bill for the 2 of us was less than $ 90. We’ll certainly be back… maybe next time for brunch.

A frontrunner in the gentrification of the area, Pary’s is bringing some open-​wall eatering with classy patio seatering and a secret recipe as the bread dip that is so amazing it left me typing in Dr. Seussian. No, but really, you should be sure to include it on the list of Places You’ll Go.

So happy that we tried this new restaurant in the Park Hill/​Stapleton area. The Shrimp and Grits are absolutely amazing. The chefs have taken a great dish and added their own touch to create a masterpiece. My wife had the scallops which were huge and perfectly cooked. The bar is not extensive but offers a nice mix to chose from. The interior is relatively small but does not feel cramped at all, as the owners did not try to cram too many tables into the available space. The huge opening front is an added bonus to allow the cool evening breeze to refresh as you eat. The waitstaff was attentive and polite. Amazing new place and highly recommend that you give it a try. I look forward to seeing what new dishes the two executive chefs come up with next!
