Pilates Evolution

I was in town for the day and decided to go. I had thought this was a real megaformer class or at least an intense Pilates class but it was fairly traditional. Being new to the studio, I expected the instructor to ask me about injuries, tell me about their machine (which isn’t a standard megaformer) but I actually walked in and there wasn’t anyone there. The door was unlocked. I signed a waiver because I saw it sitting there, not because I was asked. The instructor never introduced herself. I was never asked if I had injuries (which I do). The class was awful. I didn’t break a sweat. After also trying Fierce45 on the same trip, I would much rather go to fierce45 than PE. I would recommend others to avoid this place unless they want a geriatric workout and to be ignored by instructors who don’t show any person attention to form.

While the workout is definitely hard and it makes you sweat it is not traditional Pilates. The instructors are more worried about getting more exercise and then they are about doing exercises properly. The problem with this is that it could lead to injury easily. I practice Pilates because I really enjoy the methodical, intentional movements it helps me to have great form and posture etc. This studio’s classes are not that. If that is what you’re into then maybe the studio is for you but I will not be going back.

Awesome! Took my first (free) class today whit Carlynn and she was such a great instructor. She took time show me the overview of the machine. She made me feel really welcome and adjusted me when needed. The class was HARD but in a god way, it works your whole body from top to bottom. I am likely going to be making the switch from yoga for a membership here. I really liked the studio space, it was bright and warm with lots of sun light. Overall I got a great vibe and am hooked!

Love, love, love this studio. I have been running for years and I was not seeing any noticable improvements lately. After going to three classes, I not only increased the muscle definition in my legs, butt and core, but I also lost inches.
The instructors are all very good and they keep the workouts fresh so it’s not the same thing every time. They also are great about giving friendly reminders regarding form to help ensure the maximum benefit for each muscle group we are targeting.
I definitely recommend to go to the beginner class if you are new.

Just got a group on package and was excited by the pricing as I have been really getting into pilates. This is NOT pilates in the sense of Joseph Pilates. (Based on the class I took I am pretty sure he would roll over in his grave). No mindfulness, no corrections on form, no modifications for physical issues. Be careful if you really want a true pilates class or studio… this is not it. On the plus side you will feel the workout and you will sweat.

I was on a three different work trips to Denver and I made it a point to take as much classes from this studio as I can fit in my schedule. This studio was a bit out of my ways BUT Pilates Plus (SPX) is well worth any drive. The original location was weird, upstairs in a furniture place, I remember my first time It was freezing cold and we had to wait 2 minutes before class started until the instructor showed up with a cup of Starbucks, Perhaps the Barista took her time making her Mocha. What really annoyed me about that instructor is that all throughout the workout, she had her cup of coffee in her hand and she was sipping on it while asking us to move between workouts. Did not bother to ask if I am new, did not correct anybodies form, did not bother to show us any of the moves on the machine, she kept her Uggs on, walked around and enjoyed her Starbucks.
Then I had a chance to try another class with Shannon and she rocked it, her music was amazing, her routine was fabulous and you can tell she is well respected and loved by the students.
Now here is where it gets interesting, I e-​mailed the studio about the first instructor and praised Shannon for her fabulous work, yet no one replied back. (that explains the other Unilocaler’s reviews of how the management or the owners are totally disinterested/​disengaged).
Recently I tried the new location and yet again Megan was fabulous, she was nice and sweet, walking around correcting form and explaining proper posture and the muscle group you are working. But yet I also had a class from a male instructor who was as arrogant as it could get, very snobbish and he knows it all. Didn’t bother waste my time and e-​mail the studio this time.
I feel this studio has some good trainer and others that really don’t care, they go in to log in the hours, teach the class and leave. But I guess it starts at the top if the owners don’t care why should the trainers.

You will definitely feel it after these classes. As mentioned, your first one is free. I only go when I get a deal since the classes are pricier ($ 30 for a single class). I liked Mikael and Micah as teachers… both really focused on my form.

Fire your trainer!!! I love Pilates Evolution. I have seen more results in five weeks of pilates evolution than I did in the past three years with a trainer. The classes are hard but worth it. The teachers are all a little different in difficulty. Try different ones that fit your level and if you are new, start with the beginner class.
The studio is not dark like someone mentioned. It is bright and clean. As far as the cancellation policy, most group classes charge if you cancel last minute. There are only 10 spaces in the class and most classes are full. It is fair that they charge just like every other studio in Denver. As far as the parking issue, it’s cherry creek north so there will be parking issues but there is free parking in the neighborhood which requires a 2 block walk (a warm-​up for your workout).
I highly recommend trying Pilates Evolution. I love it!!! It is expensive but worth it.

This is the best workout I’ve ever done.
It is only 40 minutes and kicks your body from top to bottom and bottom to top.
I saw results in a week. I’ve been going for about 5 months now. I have tone everywhere, have lost weight, better posture, more confidence.
This workout uses the proformer machine rather than the reformer as in most other Pilates. It is a lot more hardcore, like the reformer machine on steroids. It’s a spring loaded platform with cables and bars. You work every body part, each class is different so you’re never bored and there is a huge variety of exercises and ways to use the machine. It’s invigorating.
Your first class is free. It is a bit expensive for the monthly unlimited memberships so I have signed up whenever I can get a deal or if you refer a friend to it and can get a discount. I gave only four stars just due to the cost of the classes. It is a bit more expensive than I’d like but the benefits are such that I still love it and I just look for ways to get discounted classes. It’s worth it. I use the heck out of my monthly memberships and usually go 5 times a week.
If you want to do something that saves time, is like personal training and motivating I recommend Pilates evolution. It is way more advanced than regular pilates and you will feel and see your body change. You work your muscles to failure. The exercise sets are done on a timed countdown. The machine is amazing. The instructors are wonderful. Everyone is friendly and it is in a beautiful building and clean.
Love this and will be continuing to workout here for a long time to come.

Attended a 40 min class and loved it! Micah instructed. He was attentive and helpful — very personable and nice. He helped me with modifications in the routine since I am recovering from an injury.
All in all this class was really fun and absolutely challenging… I can’t tell a lie … I had jelly legs walking out of there, but in a really good way! Also a plus: great music to really get you working!

The MANAGEMENT IS TERRIBLE!
I have been a student of pilates for over 10 yrs and have taken SPX classes with the originator Sebastien Lagree in Los Angeles CA. I recently came to Denver and thought I’d try the studio.
The studio address belongs to a furniture store in Cherry Creek. Upstairs in the store’s storage area, someone crammed 10 exercise machines into the space the extra furniture (complete with price tags) is stored. COLD AND DARK doesn’t belong to describe the place.
While the workout is truly pilates on steroids it is ONLY AS GOOD AS THE INSTRUCTOR.
Over the last month, I’ve had a plethora of questionable experiences. I had one instructor EAT food the ENTIRE time she lead the class. Not only was it difficult to understand her directions with her mouth full but the crunching and smacking was unnerving. Another instructor held up the class for 15 min waiting for «late people» causing us to get out of class late. Not normally a big deal but due to parking meters, it can lead to expensive parking tickets. And then yet another instructor, «Mikael» who was rude and argumentative to a student in class, shouting at her that «I am a certified instructor and you WILL do the exercises I tell you to and with ONLY the modifications I ALLOW!» She left the class and I was tempted to as well. It was very unprofessional and bad customer service to berate a student in front of others.
And last but not least the parking… Cherry Creek North is a difficult area to navigate and street parking is at a premium. Regardless. the studio does not provide any type of parking. Students must pay to park at a meter or pay an even higher rate at one of the nearby parking garages. This is not only a HUGE inconvenience but adds an additional $ 2 – 5 to the cost of a class. It also requires students get there early enough to «cruise around looking for a parking place» and end up parking block away.
Management does not care about feedback. Comments and/​or concerns were returned with verbal hostility and self righteousness. It is unfortunate this is the only SPX studio in town. It could be a great workout if the management made it more easily accessible, engaged in better customer relations, and hired professional instructors.
It’s been very amusing watching the owner and the Instructors covering their tracks by creating Unilocal profiles and fictitious reviews. But it is also sad that community members can not share their experiences openly without retaliation.

Pilates Evolution has great instructors and a comfortable setting. I enjoyed the class so much I wanted to become a member. However, the MANAGEMENT HERE IS TERRIBLE!
I bought a Living Social deal and thought this would be a great way to get into pilates. The deal was for unlimited classes over a course of the month. I bought it understanding that if I were to miss a class my entire membership would be canceled.
There was that unforeseen circumstance that resulted in me not being able to go to a class. I received an email from them giving me an option to cancel my membership or pay $ 25 for missing my class.
I tried working with them and explained that I really enjoyed what I had done, however I wasn’t in a position financially to pay $ 25 for missing a class that I had already paid for. I asked if I would be able to continue my last two classes however I was told, «We are trying to run a business, and stick to the policies we set in motion so that we are not taken advantage of.» What I heard loud and clear is that they don’t mind taking advantage of their customers. I explained I wanted to be a member of Pilates Evolution on a regular basis, however they were perfectly fine losing a Living Social customer over $ 25 and suffer bad word of mouth.
The way I see it, I didn’t owe them anything. I paid for my one month membership and only once participated in a class that was full.

Ouch. Whoa. Yikes. Awesome! This is like Pilates on crack and steroids. (not that I’d know, since I’ve never done Pilates, crack OR steroids but it was crazy intense). If you don’t know what this is — you are on a pilates machine and use it to its full potential by doing a series of moves for 1 minute each for a 40 minute class. I never realized how long a minute was until I was here.
I worked out here twice — the first time was free, and the Friday night «Community» class ($ 10 class) and had two different experiences.
The first was with Drill Sargent (i.e. Kerri). This class was hard core. She had on loud, fun music and she made us do things I didn’t even know my body would consider doing. I was one of the only first-​timers in the class, and got about a 30 second overview of the machine. Thankfully my friend was on the machine next to mine and showed me the way throughout the class. Kerri was a little too «talky» for own taste and I was sore immediately after we finished. On the difficulty meter — this class was an 8.5 out of 10. Although I could not walk, could barely wave goodbye and laughing hurt, I was not to be dissuaded from giving this place another chance.
Hello community class — This was led by Micah and he was wonderful. He spent time to explain the pilates machine and did a good job explaining our transition moves as we were doing them during the class. He played more rock music (which was fine, although I did think Kerri’s music was more my work-​out speed). This class was about a 6 out of 10 and while I was sore, I didn’t feel like I was going to be immobile for the next two days.
All in all — i would recommend this place if you want a really killer workout, can handle not being good at something at first try AND enjoy being physically/​mentally challenged.
Oh, and the best part, if you can still raise you arm, chill-​in is two stores down so you can treat yourself to fro-​yo. Parking can be annoying (it is cherry creek, after all) and this is in the upstairs of Djuna (sort of weird). I did love that the class is 10 people max, so you can get one-​on-​one attention.
