Poulos and Somers

Unfortunately I’ve had an area of recession of my gums for the past ten years, and have had to have three gum grafts, one in Chicago, one in Phoenix, and one here in Denver. I remember both the Chicago and Phoenix ones being awful — as the anesthesia wore off I had a searing pain in my jaw that made it difficult to chew food or even talk for two or three days.
So, I was not looking forward to after this surgery as I drove home and went to lay on the couch waiting for the anesthesia to wear off. I took some medication, turned on the TV, and waited.
About three hours later I realized that there wasn’t any pain. I figured, OK, the medications must be working well.
Three hours more, around dinner time, the medication had clearly worn off, so had the anesthesia, and it still didn’t hurt. The next day I could chew normally.
Two weeks later I had the stitches removed, looked at the gum, and it looked like there was no recession at all. That was not the case with the previous two surgeries — the gum always receded a bit, making it about half complete. This time it looked like the gum had restored.
I don’t know how Dr. Nick Polous does it, but he’s clearly remarkable.

This is seriously a wonderful place. Dr. Nick and friendly and explained everything really well. I then saw Lisa for my deep cleaning procedures, and she was quite possibly the best dental professional I have ever met. She was extremely friendly and personable, and made the entire process a joy to complete. I would highly recommend this dental group to anyone in need of periodontal work.

When my dentist told me I was brushing my teeth too hard and needed to consult with a specialist I was nervous. I called in early July and was told August was the first opening but they would notify me of cancelations if one arose. True to their word I got a call stating there was an opening in late July and I was able to get in sooner.
My first consultation with Dr. Michael Poulos was very helpful. He did a thorough examination of my teeth, gums and mouth before discussing what I needed to do to correct the issue of receding gums in my mouth. His staff explained the potential costs (pre and post insurance) before scheduling the procedure.
Awaiting the procedure today but very confident that everything will go well.

I found Dr. Poulos after having a terrible gum graft procedure at another dental facility in the Denver suburbs. Going in, I was very critical given my last experience. These guys exceeded in EVERY WAY!!! Their customer service is outstanding and Dr. Poulos senior (his son works with him) is both an expert in his craft and hysterical to be around.
Since becoming a patient, I have had a new gum graft procedure, a general cleaning, and some other work. They are outstanding across the board and I would not hesitate to give them ten stars if Unilocal allowed it!
While I still am not a fan of getting work done on my teeth, these guys are about the best possible option out there.

I have had tons of work done over the years. This office has been amazing to work with. The staff is awesome and the Dr has been very helpful in answering questions and making sure I understand the entire process.

Lisa Baxter has, single handedly, after 30 years of terror, made me completely unafraid of going to the periodontist, which is, for me, like going to the dentist only 1,000 times worse. Her boss, Dr Poulos and she have been a team for 24+ years. They are in Denver. She is a saint. I love her.

I have had two gum surgeries with Dr Somers over the past year, and let me just say that her work is excellent. You think it is going to be painful, but it isn’t.
The whole operation runs very smoothly. The staff are all friendly, helpful, and attentive to your needs as a patient: appointments, payment, instructions on how to brush, take medicine, etc.
I am so glad that my dentist referred me to Dr Somers for such important surgery.
