Children’s books are our passion. From the classics to new releases, and board books to young adult titles, we love being able to get the right books into the hands of readers of all ages. We have new and used children’s books and we take in «gently loved» books for store credit. Second Star to the Right is proud to be an independent children’s bookstore in the Berkeley/​Highlands area.

History

Established in 2014.

The owners of Second Star to the Right are Dea and Marc Lavoie. We have been elementary school teachers for the last eleven years. Although teaching is a profession we both love, there are other ways to instill a passion for reading. We believe that there aren’t any kids who don’t like to read, but only kids who haven’t been introduced to the kinds of books that speak to them! We are eager to help with that journey of exploration.

Business Owner

I have been involved in the education field for the last 25 years. I wanted to make a difference in the lives of children in the northwest Denver area and share my love of reading. My husband and I created Second Star to the Right as a way to get books into the hands of kids. We are excited to offer high quality children’s literature and young adult titles to engage readers of all levels.
