Total joke of a 5 star spa. Massage was fine. Pedicure consists of soaking your feet in a tin bucket. Manicure is awful, no cutting of cuticles or nail beds, polish peeled off within the hour, they can not file anywhere near straight. They will tell you they do gel nails but no one qualified to do them. Alot of sitting and waiting for each service. This has 2 locations, the one in the hotel will encourage you to go elsewhere (very strange receptionist girl).
The other location will tell you they are overwhelmed and cant take care of guests.
Overall, go elsewhere. Save the 5 star prices.

this place is magic. i needed an escape from my conference and here i stepped into another world. it was so relaxing, the steam bath is great, the massage and facial were amazing… i didn’t want to leave!

My wife and I visited Spa Universaire off Speer Blvd for an anniversary couple’s massage. A+ massage but the ambience was substandard. Nothing about the spa was luxurious. In fact, the setup is rather cramped and the décor is dated. 1980’s-style dated.
Based off the website pictures, we chose the Glacier suite. It is odd to have to exit the spa, go down a corridor, up some stairs and around the corner to get to the room, but that didn’t bother me too much. What did bother me was the audible nail clipping, talking, laughing, scrubbing, and other random noises coming from the pedicure space just outside of our room. It ruined the last 30 minutes of our 90 minute massage. The people who were getting the pedicure were in the middle of multiple treatments and I wonder why the Spa couldn’t have delayed 30 minutes or gone on to the next treatment and circled back to the pedicure. This mistake of management part came across as tacky and unprofessional.
The massage therapists were A+. I would follow them to the ends of the earth. But, we likely won’t be back at Spa Universaire.

I spent a wonderful afternoon at Spa Universaire. The prices were reasonable and the service was excellent. I had a facial and a hot stone massage with Kim and also a salt scrub. Everything was great. Thank you girls!

A few weeks ago I received a massage from Kim. It was the best I’ve ever received! I left feeling like a new person. Amazing experience and Kim did a wonderful Job! Thanks Kim — — Toni M.

My Girlfriend and her sister worked there and were cheated out of commissions and treated terrible by the owner Karen. She treats her employees like sub-​par humans and then doesn’t pay them. I have been a customer and the service is way overrated.
Karen, here’s what happens, when you do shitty things to good people.

Because I am not a local patron this review may be a little different. Hopefully those who can physically visit this spa have better experiences.
I called in to the spa in order to purchase a gift certificate for a friend in the Denver area over the phone as I live in Atlanta, Ga. The woman who took my reservation seemed flustered and I felt the need to go over the cc info and spelling of names over and over in order to ensure accuracy. This process took about 25 minutes which seems like a lot being as though I was simply dictating info. No transaction was completed over the phone. I was told it would be done at a later time in the business day. The gift certificate needed to be delivered via email to the recipient by the next day because it was her birthday. Great gift idea right? I asked for the transaction to be completed as soon as possible in order for the recipient to receive the notification in a timely manner (ie ON HER BIRTHDAY!)
Late that same evening I received an email stating that the transaction was completed and of course my cc was indeed charged. I assumed at this time that of course my friend had received her gift certificate in her inbox. Oh no! That would be too perfect. So I waited and though maybe she’ll call me in the morning about how excited she was to go to the spa.
The next morning and afternoon goes by and I have spoken to my friend several times… she mentions nothing. I then persuade her to check her email. Surprise now ruined because she’s on to me. She finds nothing. I then call Spa Universaire and speak with someone who says that will take care of the email because nothing ha gone out to her. And hour later and still NOTHING has been received by my friend. I call back! Now I am speaking with another woman who says «oh I sent the email but it bounced back. I misspelled the email address.» My thoughts are… well why wasn’t I called to confirm the email address. We then fix the spelling and she tells me she is sending the gift certificate email now. I again have to tell my friend to check her email and what’s the response… NOTHING!!!
At this point I am fuming because I was not notified nor told the truth about any of this. I call BACK and speak with the same woman who now tells me «well I’m trying to send but something is wrong with the attachment and so need to do an update but o can’t do an update… hmmm.»
I then ask why can she not simply forward the same email that was sent to the wrongness address to the correct address… that’s if that email was even sent. My solution is SEND THE EMAIL NOW! THANK YOU
So my friend finally gets her gift but all of the names are spelled incorrectly. Now that error goes back to the original person who is no where to be found.
I call BACK! And now I’m asking for a manager. No manager of course. My problem is that my cc was charged without a problem but the delivery was POOR and below standards. Why was I, the consumer, not called to confirm any details of there was such a disconnect between the staff. I work in luxury retail and when dealing with our clients, their personal information is protected. Delivery is key and so is service.
I plan to call and speak to the owner. I sure hope that the experience my friend received when she books her appointment is of a much higher standard than what I received over the phone.
Some major customer service training is needed.

We had a couples massage booked early on a Sunday. It was quiet, and a very relaxing atmosphere. The staff was very courteous, and attentive. Kim was my therapist, she was amazing. We will definitely be back.

I’m not from Denver but if I lived here I would definitely have a standing appointment at Spa Universaire! I received a wonderful Body Glow a Scrub and 60 minute massage from Drew. Drew was truly amazing and really focused on my expressed problems areas, and I would recommend him if you like a firm (yet gentle) massage. I felt great and extremely relaxed afterwards!

Took my mom here for an «Urban Retreat» package for her birthday and she had a very lovely experience. Such a peaceful place and very nice people working there.

We had the couples massage on Valentine’s Day. It was perfect, very relaxing. The massage itself was amazing. Shaun and Amanda were a great pairing for us. They were perfect, definitely recommend!

We had a super relaxing time here. The manager, Troy, was super sweet and made sure we were comfortable while we were waiting for our services. I had the best facial ever by Jessica and am really seeing a difference in my skin. The steam room was also fantastic. We left feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Everyone was so professional and nice. I will definitely be back here soon!

Overrated… way way overrated! I didn’t have an «awful» experience but I certainly don’t feel like we got what we paid for either. The pictures online make this place look far nicer than it actually is, it is in a very nice building BUT the spa itself needs some serious upgrades beginning with the carpet in the lunch area (which by the way is just one table tucked into a corner between a couple of curtains). There is a man working in the lobby downstairs that won’t allow you to go up to the spa without confirming your appointment, it’s nice to feel secure and all but the guy was a real jerk, not the least but friendly. I do like the products they use but again I don’t feel this place is worth what you pay.

My husband and I went in for an hour-​long couples massage. The building was downtown and very posh, albeit the entrance and parking are slightly hard to find. We were treated like royalty and had a very luxurious time! The brought us fresh, hot tea when we arrived. We then put on cozy bathrobes before we were led to the modern and very beautiful massage room. They washed and scrubbed our feet before we got settled on the massage tables which was a first for us. The price seemed reasonable, $ 80 per person for a 60 minute couples massage. We will have to do it again sometime!

Cherlynn is such a gem! She was so comforting and anticipated what I needed before I asked. I’ve been having back problems since I delivered my baby and tweaked it pretty good lifting him the day before my massage. I was pleased with how she listened about my back problems and made suggestions and tailored my massage to that. I appreciate her suggestion of the fire and ice stone treatment to help my back. Yes, this was an upsell but it didn’t feel like that. She knew what my back needed and made a recommendation based on that. I was happy to take her up on her suggestion! I’m a little sore today but she said that she was having to work hard to get my muscles to release so I let her use a bit more pressure than I typically would. She informed me about what she observed and made suggestions of soaking and icing my back. My back is greatly improved today!
The steam room is small but every time I’ve been they lock the door so that I’m the only one in there. The waiting area is a small hallway but you are not there long. Once you get to the treatment rooms it is very quiet and the themes are very nice. I like the Pacific Rim room over the Caribbean Room that I had during my last massage. The music for both has been very nice and I love the aromatherapy experience provided at no extra cost! They use other Aveda products during the massage like a hand and foot cream. The complimentary foot bath gives the masseuse a chance to talk to you about what you want from your massage. It is a nice added benefit. The foot bath, aromatherapy treatments, and hot tea included with every massage really adds to the value!
Overall, this was the best day spa experience I’ve had in Denver. I’ve been to both Woodhouse locations a few times and while they are spacious the traffic noise and theater noise audible in the treatment rooms majorly detracted from the experience. I’d rather have a quiet treatment room!
Be sure to ask for Cherlynn, she will completely make your experience!

I was looking for a true spa environment to relax, and for the most part, spa universaire fit the bill. The steam shower was wonderful and the treatments were nice. The tea and cinnamon twist were nice touches as well. The staff were all extremely friendly.
The downside was that once you get into the treatment rooms, the staff are clearly instructed to try to get you to upgrade. The first few minutes of each treatment involved trying to get me to spend more $– which is the opposite of relaxing and stress-​free. The massage upgrade wasn’t worth the $ 10 and the facial upgrade was ok, but I’m not sure worth $ 20.
I liked everything except for the sales pitches…

My friend and I rushed to get an appointment before we flew out to go home. We had isabell and she was so delightful, probably the best most detailed waxing I’ve ever had. My friend and I joked about how we’d like to fly up here for our waxwings in the future.

If you are pregnant and in Denver, visit Sherlynn! (Sorry Sherlynn if I’ve butchered the spelling of your name!) My 75 minute pregnancy massage, that included stress relief, was one of the top massages I’ve ever had. (I typically visit therapists every 4 weeks. Since pregnant, every 2 for pain.)
After a scheduling nightmare for my appointment, Caren the owner personally called me herself to secure my appointment. When I arrived, Matt happily greeted me at the front desk, showing me the rooms and facilities. While small, this Aveda spa does boast all the necessary amenities. I didn’t mind that the dressing room was for both sexes as I was the only one there at the time.
Matt introduced me to Sherlynn and immediately, her warm personality relaxed me. She gave me my foot scrub, while asking me in detail my needs. The massage itself was fantastic. The pressure, technique and was aromatherapy was top notch. I appreciate that she asked me all the right questions, but didn’t chat the entire time. She let me relax and take in the music and atmosphere.
She was so great I actually gave her a big hug when I left! I was only visiting Denver for a conference, but WISH I could visit Sherlynn regularly.

I have never been to a spa that I enjoyed as much as this one. I have even traveled 2 hours just to go to an Aveda spa that was rumored to be amazing, and was not. And here, I find the best spa ever, about 10 minutes from my apartment.
I truly felt like a princess going here. I only got the Hiker’s Foot Therapy service, but I will definitely be back for a massage and other services. I have never felt so completely welcome, and free to be myself and relax at any other spa.
