Horrible service!!! Owner refused to redo an order when we told him the order was incorrect. I would never go back!

WOW I was very surprised at the really good menu. Very good food and reasonable pricing. I will suggest to my friends and will go back.

I’ve visited Thai Basil several times and its clearly a restaurant that makes an effort to satisfy customers. Food is pretty good, I think the sauces are a bit heavy. Services is always excellent.

This place is alright. I would give it 3.5 stars if that was an option. I actually really enjoyed my dish(Thai Basil Chicken), which was one of the day’s specials. My only complaint was that the sauce was just a little thick/heavy. My boyfriend ordered sesame chicken and his complaint was also that it was a bit heavier than Thai food we usually eat. I don’t normally think of Thai being HEAVY, so walking out of there with that impression is the only reason I am giving this place three stars instead of four! The service was fine, as compared to what other people are saying in their reviews. The eat-in dishes were nice. It’s a good location for University of Denver people, though if I was still a student there I would be greatly missing Garbanzo’s(the former inhabitant of that building). The only strange thing about the layout to me is how you pay up front and then a server brings your food to you, if you are eating in. I didn’t know if I was supposed to wait by the counter or sit down somewhere until I saw other people being brought their food. I would recommend eating outside if it’s summer.

The name«Thai Basil» drew me in for a quick take out. I was thinking they were related somehow to other restaurant chain that starts with the same. Upon entering, I was bit confused of lay out but figured out the menu and where to order. There were menu board everywhere with no consistency. I ordered grilled shrimp noodle bowl for lunch and did not know what the price was until I paid. Food came out pretty quickly with«meh» taste. Nothing to write home about.

This one just opened up down the street from my house. We checked it out because we: 1. wanted Thai food 2. figured they would have specials because they just opened. They did! $ 1 beer and some food stuff. Why only 3 stars? The food is reasonably good, looks good, and comes on good dishes, but the flavors are either too sweet or too bland, or both, even beyond places that tend to be Thai-food-for-white-people. The layout is weird. There is a guy in a host both playing scratch-it lotto tickets who ignores you. Apparently you have to walk to the back of the restaurant to order. The kitchen is open and allows you to see the jet engine that heats the wok, which is cool. What is not cool is attempting to converse over it’s incredible volume. Pass, unless you are determined to walk to dinner or eat Thai food while watching ESPN(they have TVs). I think my gripes go well beyond the bumps that come from dining at a new restaurant.

These guys really need to get their act together. Called a couple weeks ago and was told they no longer deliver. Called another night recently and was told they DO deliver. There’s a guy who answers the phone who is really difficult to understand, and who has difficulty understanding English speakers(I know learning a new language is very difficult, but I do ask that businesses have relatively experienced English speakers when answering the phone). The workers inside have a real attitude sometimes and don’t like to answer questions or take a moment to make sure the order is right. I’ve actually gotten dirty looks from the cooks before when I’ve had to correct my order. Food is so-so, is alright if you’re really hungry and in a hurry. Service needs a LOT of work though. I can do without the hassle when ordering inside or take-out/delivery. I’ll stick with Swing Thai.

We love the Thai Basil on Alameda, so i foolishly assumed this would be the same food in a small, quick, take-out setting. Boy, was i wrong. The menu is half the size, and the food we got was not very tasty. I think the pad thai was made with spaghetti!!! As one reviewer noted, it’s fast and cheap, that’s the only thing this place has going for it. The atmosphere is awful … two very loud blaring TVs in the dining area with competing shows on. You can sit in the back by the kitchen, but then you have to listen to the kitchen banging noises and watch the staff hitting on each other and texting their friends. This place isn’t worth it … go across the street to Jason’s Thai. Another negative — no parking.

only get the thai food. Everything else is aweful. Dry Pad Thai, vietnamese food is all noodle, 1 slice of cucumber, no care to the world.

Really, this place is just average. Have tried two entrees here: Pad Thai(w/beef) and Panang Curry Chicken. Portion sizes were decent yet the price didn’t really even out the value. Service is quick at least. And Thai Basil is only a short walk from Daniels College of Business. So, it has that convenience factor. This restaurant is definitely good for catering to the DU crowd. Quick, easy, casual. If you don’t want to walk the extra block to Jason’s Thai, then Thai Basil is the next best choice for Thai/Asian food.

Order the Pad Thai thinking its was a safe bet. It was the worst Pad Thai I ever had. The pictures on the wall show peeled carrots and other toppings but it was just chicken and the noodles. Not to mention it was cold.

I’ve been living in the DU neighborhood for 20 years, and one thing I have always wished for was a decent, inexpensive Thai restaurant. FINALLY! The teenager and I went to Thai Basil for dinner today. We stuck to some basics: Chicken Satay, Thai Spring Rolls, some pork dumplings – can’t remember the Thai name – and the Chili-Lime Beef Rice Bowl. We were the only people in the restaurant when we arrived, so the food arrived quickly. I loved it! Nothing fancy, just great-tasting, reasonably priced food in good portions. The prices were good: we ordered three starters, a rice bowl, and 2 sodas for about $ 28.00. Wanted to do a little happy dance as we left, but I didn’t want to embarrass my son.

This place just opened up in the old Garbanzo’s spot near the DU Campus and I have to say, I like it much better than Garbanzo’s! Thai Basil is affordable, fun, and tasty. I went here tonight for the first time and everyone was friendly, serviceable and the food was great! I went for the hot and sour soup, always a favorite and the crab cheese wontons. Both were excellent. Thai Basil is a perfect place to go for a quick and cheap bite-everything is under $ 10! Check it out next time you’re hungry around campus.
