The Art Institute of Colorado

Daughter attended for 4 years and graduated after $ 86,000 bill. The school is unbelievably unorganized, sent me untold number of invalid bills and screwed up her schedule costing me more money during her attendance. Here it is 3 months after her graduation and she hasn’t received a diploma!!! And now they won’t talk to me because she doesn’t have a privacy form on file. Was NEVER an issue when I was a PAYING parent. Got every record I needed at the time. AI should be ashamed, what a disgrace. They got my money and my daughter doesn’t even have a diploma.

A student and his money are soon parted. Remember, nothing in life is free. Look a bit harder, and you can find a real school with real job opportunities. An art «education» is fun, but little more. If your dream is to work in a hot kitchen, or become an unemployable video-​game designer, than have a major credit card ready. Operators are standing by…

I went there a long time ago, biggest mistake I ever made. Scamming 18 year olds in
to thinking they are going to make 60 thousand a year working for a video game company and then only give you 3 classes on the actual major to send demo reels to random companies that don’t even watch them. All they care about is your money dont go there what ever you do one of the biggest ripoffs ever.

I am only giving them one star because I can’t give them zero. Borderline criminal behavior. They have the nerve to call themselves an educational institution when they are actually engaged in fraud and misrepresentation. Shaking down impressionable young adults is reprehensible. My son audited a course two times and now they are hounding him for $ 1,200.00 in tuition. As an adjunct professor at the University of Illinois, it infuriates me that «schools» like this exist. Stay clear!

I seriously hate this school. So why am I giving it 3 stars and not 1? Because I am seriously the worst student in the world. I lost motivation for my program after a friend in the same program passed away. My degree is Visual Effects and Motion Graphics. To be honest there are some really great teachers there who know what they are doing and are amazing at it. I just was not motivated to learn it and should have just dropped out.
I think the cost is way to much and not worth it. They only have 100 parking spots for students and it costs to park there. I heard the dorms were awful. I personaly didnt want to be paying 900 bucks a month to be sharing an «apartment» with 2 – 3 other people. I lived in a studio 2 blocks from the school for 2 years it was 500 dollars a month.

I can only speak to the Culinary Arts program. I had several great chef instructors with different views and ideas. I really did have a great educational experience and learn so much about food and service culture. I really appreciated learning about both front and back of house operations as well as some financial and accounting information. Really a 5 star education.
The big drawback is the advising and financial aide departments. Advising was primarily done by people out of state and on the phone who knew nothing and didn’t really care. It took me too long to learn that I should just go to my program director. The financial aide department is another story all together. They employ a lot of upper level students and it was just a fiasco. I could never get the right information and made several visits and phone calls, with far too much waiting, to find out that the person who could help me was not available.
Great education, poor administration

My son was invited to attend Summer Studio this past summer. I paid the fee in advance. He participated in the Audio Production Program, which he claimed was «OK», but didn’t convince him to enroll for next year. I received a bill for his tuition during his stay there, and contacted someone in financial services, who verified that I had already paid this bill, and assured me that I would not get another one. I addressed this matter again in person on the last day he was there. Again, I was told that it would be taken care of. Next month, another bill came. I was directed to a voice mail, and left a message which was not returned. Another bill followed the next month, so I called again. Receptionist seemed empathetic about my issue, but couldn’t get anyone to answer, so she directed me to head of financial services. I left a message, and actually got a returned call. She said it had all been cleared up. I would not receive anymore bills. Guess What? Got another one yesterday. This is very unprofessional on the part of The Art Institute. I am attempting to contact the Dean of Student Affairs via Linked In, but have little hope that I will ever be rid of this nightmare. Should this matter affect my son’s or my credit, I will have to fork over more $ to my attorney than the total amount due on the bill. Maybe that’s how they turn a profit.

Great art college. I’ve been tutoring a few students over the summer, this has been my reason for visiting the college. I teach most computer design programs including AutoCAD, PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign, SketchUp and Revit.
The students I have worked with have a solid background in the use of these computer programs, they just needed personal one on one instruction.
The college is extremely clean. Very secure along the lines of parking and access to the building. The computer labs in which I visited and worked were all state of the art, brand new computers.
From my personal experience and visual observation, The Art Institute of Colorado seems to be a solid art College.
