The Covington on Cherry Creek

I’ve got one month left on my lease and could not be happier to get out of this place it is ridiculous there’s no parking for tenants if you arrive after 7 PM which is really frustrating since I work until 9 PM sometimes I’m a young female and have to park out on the street. You think that they would do a little bit more to accommodate their residence however when I brought this up at the leasing office the woman working told me that residents have guests over and accommodating them was more important so I just have to get over parking situation and then she had the nerve to tell me that if I want to guaranteed parking spot in the complex I can pay for a garage for my last month here… What a joke maybe you should enforce parking considering you guys have up a sign about private parking and towing instead of having all these random people park in the lot who are visiting maybe you guys should make a visitors lot and have assigned parking for the people who actually pay to live here.

This place is great. We’ve lived here for about 2 months now and have had a great experience. Two things that really could be improved are parking and recycling. Parking is always full if you arrive after 7PM, forcing you to park on the street. There should really be a numbered system so each resident has a specific stall. Also, there is only one recycling bin throughout the entire complex, which is very far away for most people. I have to drive my recycling from my apartment to the bin! There should be more bins. Besides these things, everything is pretty great.

I would like to say overall my experience of living here 15 months has been pretty good except when dealing with the so called property Marcella. She is one of the rudest people I have ever met!!! Very unprofessional, and has a very smart mouth! She is very difficult to work with as well not friendly at all unless she is wanting something from you such as up grading to a larger apartment. Everything went well until the day after we moved into the larger apartment and then she became her usual rude self telling us there would be an extensive cleaning fee from our old apartment (which was never mentioned throughout the entire process) because we left behind a very small amount of things that could have been cleaned in less than 10 minutes. She rudely called me and said I could go get the things out today. It is 11:30 am, I’m at work and will not be home until after they close. I told her I could do it first thing tomorrow morning and she rudely said no because someone is moving there on Saturday… That is 5 days away… I told her I was going to call her manager again and she laughed and said and I quote «Go ahead, they will not do anything and hung up on me» I called the Griffis corporate office on her, and this is not the first time I had to do this and they are looking into her rude behavior and said they were very sorry about how I was treated. Word of advise, AVOID Marcella!!! Everyone else there is very nice, maybe she should look at her staff and she could learn a thing or two! Maybe if enough people complain about her they can get a real property manager that cares about her tenets and her job because Marcella certainly does not!!!

We complained to the leasing staff on more than 5 occasions about our neighbors who were continually abusive and harassed us to no end. The management simply refused to act. The manager is the most rude, childish and arrogant person I think I’ve ever dealt with. If you have a question or want to pick up a package prepare to be a huge inconvenience to the women in the office. The apartments are nice but not worth the treatment from the staff.

Pros: The apartments are beautiful, spacious and filled with natural light. We love our vaulted ceilings, huge windows, alarms, soaking tubs, gas fireplace, crown moulding and French balcony doors. Pet friendly. Single stream recycling. Courtesy patrol, and number to call if neighbors are loud (and action taken to remedy loudness), snacks for dogs in the clubhouse, free Starbucks, fitness center. We like the two pools. Directly on Cherry Creek Trail is an added bonus. Jerry in facilities management is brilliant and is quick to respond to any issue. And Danielle in the office is super bright and very nice. We wish Jerry and Danielle managed the entire operation. Finally, the apartments are blessedly silent between floors.
Cons: Nothing is within walking distance — must drive for groceries & shopping, restaurants, theaters, etc. The appliances are cheap. Zero «long-​term» renter $ perks — since keeping customers is cheaper than finding new ones, you’d think they’d be smarter about customer loyalty. But a nice cleaning service for long timers.

We recently moved out and could not be happier. We planned to extend our contract but with the new management, staff, and maintenance crew, we couldn’t WAIT to get out. It seemed like within a year that we were there, it gradually went downhill. Our heater was NEVER working. It was rough. We had to keep on the fireplace constantly to keep the apartment warm, which by the way drove up our Xcel bill. We called and had maintenance come out to look at it four times, and every time it was a new issue. Until the fourth time when I noticed a new Maintenance person, he said there is nothing wrong with the heater and that this is how the heater works. Also advised us NOT to go above 72 degrees as it may cause the heater to kick back (whatever that means). We had our car broken into once. There was also a day that I was leaving to work and as I walked out there was multiple SWAT cars passing by and parking in front of the building next to where my apartment was. Lastly, we had ABSURD move out costs due to normal wear and tear of the carpet. I would not recommend living here.

The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. There was a change in ownership of the facility a few months ago, and since then, the complex has been even better than before. The gym is nice, the pool is always clean, the hot tub and grill are there to use. It really is a nice place. They just painted the buildings last week and are really looking to step up the complex.
Additionally, the price is as good as it gets. Very spacious for a very nice price. The only problem is parking. At night, finding a spot can be tough. Thankfully, street parking is always available, but it is always nice to have a spot right outside of your apartment. However, in the grand scheme of things, parking really isn’t too large of an issue.
The staff is always willing to help if a light goes out, your fireplace isn’t working, etc. They are very nice and incredibly helpful. I highly recommend this complex to anyone who is interested. It is just a short drive away from I-​25 and is super close to a few King Soopers and Chipotles… and let’s be honest, those are both super important.

The Good: Awesome staff were very helpful, kind, and willing to go out of their way to make living there as nice of an experience as possible. The apartment layouts were spacious, the carpet was brand new, and the storage area was superb. The proximity to the Cherry Creek Bike Path was a blessing!!!
The Bad: Parking was hit or miss. The grounds were often times disgusting due to tenants that could care less about their surroundings. The gym had constantly broken machinery/​television. The swimming pool had INFANTS/​TODDLERS in it. We all know how well infants and toddlers «hold it». Think of a child wearing a diaper in a swimming pool in the same manner as you think of a tea bag. Ick.
The Horrible: 75% of the residents. Some serious dirtbags, I kid you not. The crime. Cars broken into, sexual assaults, gangs… oh wait, S.W.A.T. breaking in and hauling away people. Gun shots at night. Ahhh… Aurora…
