History

Established in 2008.

The Photogenic Lab was established to meet the needs of clients who wish to have more artistic fine art portraiture for their weddings and family portraits. Edited with more of a film feel than a digital camera, TPL focuses on the both the candid moments as well as stylized portraiture. Specializing in Destination Weddings, TPL has traveled to Dominican Republic, Mexico, Hawaii, and other other exotic locations for wedding events.

Jason B.

Business Owner

Jason comes from a Media, Film, & Journalism background. Photography has always been a passion his whole life, and soon after purchasing his first professional camera model, he started working in commercial video production as a camera operator and editor. Jason brings his experience from complex lighting on commercial sets to his wedding & family clients.

His photography style is aimed towards delivering a processed look for various film emulsions while his cinema packages have a retro super 8 theme set to personalized unique music suitable for each client.

Proficient in various post production techniques such as dodge & burn, skin retouching, tonal adjustments, and color processing, Jason fuses his unique eye with these advanced techniques to bring his the most beauty to an image as possible.

Jason has lived in Denver, CO for 10 years and enjoys snowboarding, Scuba diving, road biking, camping, and his adorable niece.

Jason was nothing short of an amazing photographer. From our first meeting with him to the very end, he was kind, professional, very knowledgeable and just a super fun guy! We did an Engagement session with him as well, which was one of the best decisions we made during this whole process. It gave us a chance to get to know his style and him to get to know us. So that come the day of our wedding we were already so comfortable with him, with his guidance, were able to get some really amazing photos. I could not be happier with our decision to choose Jason and The Photogenic Lab for our big day! We’ve heard nothing but great things from all our friends and family about how awesome he was that day, and now again with starting to share some of our photos from the wedding.
He got our engagement photos to us in perfect timing, even during the madness of the holidays, and I was surprisingly thrilled to get our wedding photos in LESS than a month! We would recommend him for any of your photography needs! Hands down!

Jason (The Photogenic Lab) was a fantastic wedding photographer. He was communicative, responsive, professional, (and a generally cool person), and he truly has an eye for artistry. He was also flexible with any changes in the day’s plans or difficult family members. Even my parents liked him, which is saying something. For the quality of his work, I strongly believe that he offers an excellent value for Denver wedding photography. We had him shoot an hour of engagement-​type photos at a downtown Denver courthouse as well as nine hours on the actual wedding day. He provided us with hundreds of gorgeous photos from our wedding at just under 4 weeks after the wedding day. I would strongly recommend anybody in search of photography (wedding or otherwise) to check out The Photogenic Lab!

I can’t say enough about how impressed (and happy!) I was about our wedding photos and the whole experience working with Jason during our wedding. I really think the photos speak for themselves (check them out on TPL’s website — Jen & Teo’s wedding). So many of our friends have ended up with pretty cheesy, bland wedding photos that they keep tucked away in an album somewhere — lucky for us, we had the opportunity to work with TPL, and ended up with incredibly rich, beautiful, fun photos that really captured the look and feel of our wedding weekend. Jason’s process is so smooth and unobtrusive — I hardly remember having to take time away from enjoying our wedding to pose for pictures — he makes it incredibly easy, and is always looking for good photo opportunities, which is great because he is able to capture some of the most special moments that are not planned in advance. Jason is also incredibly professional, and a genuinely kind and wonderful person to spend time with! I’d be more than happy to speak with anyone considering working with TPL to share more about our experience.

Jason photographed my brother’s destination wedding in 2010. Fantastically. Since my brother, my parents and I live in 3 different states, that wedding was the last family vacation we would ever take together, as my father unexpectedly passed away earlier this year. I reached out to The Photogenic Lab to see if there was any way, 3 years later, I could still order prints of some of the family shots he took from that event. Jason got back to me immediately– within 24 hours– and provided me with a link allowing me access to the wedding photos, and the ability to easily order prints from any shot I wanted.
Christmas gifts have been much easier for me to purchase this year, thanks to Jason and The Photogenic Lab. Fabulous photos AND fabulous customer service!

We hired Jason to shoot our wedding in June 2013. Simply put, he nailed it. He captured my wife’s beauty perfectly – and he even made me look presentable (no easy task.) His images of the ceremony and reception were not only beautiful, they also captured the vibe of our venue and the personality of our guests. No stuffy staged shots — lots of candid cool with a great eye for composition, color and light. We’ve had nothing but raves from friends and family we’ve shared the images with. We can not say enough about Jason and his work! Our wedding video and short video are absolutely amazing!
From the moment we met Jason we were not only comfortable with him but his professionalism, creativity and genuine dedication to producing wonderful footage of our special event were all apparent.
On our wedding day Jason and his staff traveled around with us effortlessly and with out complaint. They were a pleasure to have around which made it so very comfortable while they were taking video of the full day of events. I can not stress the importance of feeling comfortable when you are on camera. Jason is a natural at that.
When we saw our short video we were blown away… he captured our event, family and love in such a perfect way. Our full length video is equally outstanding and we are so fortunate to have that to cherish forever. His eye for detail goes beyond what you see but he captures the heart, soul and feelings of the moment.
We highly recommend Jason for any of life’s events you want to have captured beautifully. We will be hiring him to capture other special moments and produce commercial pieces as well! When you find some one like Jason you never need to look anywhere else. He is that good!!!

Jason, of The Photogenic Lab, is a genius. He photographed our wedding in the Dominican Republic, and his work was absolutely beautiful. All of our friends are jealous of our photos, and he’s photographing my sister’s wedding this month because she loved his work so much.
He was an absolute pleasure to work with — listened to exactly what we wanted, didn’t pressure us into spending time on posed photographs we didn’t want, caught every moment we were hoping for, and delivered a ton of polished photos for us to choose from.
He does a great job of blending into the crowd and capturing genuine emotion and expression. There wasn’t a moment when I hoped the camera would disappear, and yet there isn’t a moment that Jason seemed to miss.
