The Shoppe

This place is closed, but it held a special spot in my heart. Loved all the vegan options here, especially the chocolate walnut. The people were all very friendly and the atmosphere most welcoming! The Shoppe will never be forgotten.

OH NOOOOOOOO! I’m a dessert lover. Most of the cupcakes are too sweet for me and shoppe is the only cupcake shop i always go back and truly adore.
Love the coconut cupcake. Really hope they could find a place and reopen it, so i have a place to come back to.

The Shoppe was where my now husband took me on our first date, and also where he took me the night he proposed.
I am beyond sad to hear The Shoppe Closed. I have such amazing memories there, and can’t imagine going anywhere else. It breaks my heart when small businesses close, especially awesome ones!

I am in total disbelief The Shoppe has closed its doors. They had, hands down, the best cupcakes I have ever eaten in my entire life. Moist and fluffy cake, smooth and creamy icing. Genius and perfectly executed flavor combinations.
I live in LA but come to Denver on occasion to visit my cousin and she always takes me to The Shoppe. Once she came to visit me in LA and brought 4 flavors of cupcakes, seriously the best gift EVER. When she told me they were closing I didn’t want to believe it. I literally shed a tear over the fact that I’ll never eat their cupcakes again. (Being pregnant may have been a factor in my brief emotional bout)
To anyone with a connection to their owner or baker… I want to buy your recipe for the pink lemonade cupcake and icing. PLEASE!!! I swear I will guard it with my life.

Other than being possibly over priced (I’ve never bought cupcakes before) this place was delicious. Lots of options, i ended up with a dozen mini cupcakes all different flavors. Everyone of them was heavenly.
I picked them up on the way home from work, set them on the counter and enjoyed after dinner. Thanks to the post about the inside being hard from being chilled. The 2 hours they sat on the counter must have worked, nothing was cold or hard. So delicious.

I was disappointed by this place. I love cupcakes. Unfortunately this place is average.
Came here on a Saturday afternoon. The place was empty … lots of selections for cupcakes; however, nothing extraordinary!
We got the Praline and Crème, Chocolate Salted Caramel and Churro. The Praline and Crème didn’t even taste like a cupcake. It was not sweet at all! The Chocolate Salted Caramel was better than the other 2. Churro was average.
The cake portion of the cupcake wasn’t dry but it wasn’t moist as I like it.
$ 3.50 per cupcake… that’s outrageous, it’s even more expensive than Beverly Hills cupcakes. So it got another star knocked off for their prices.
Also there’s no sign outside that says the Shoppe, it’s just a huge pink cupcake… what kind of business sense is that!?! Get a sign, you’re going to lose customers like that…

Obviously I’m not alone in saying how amazing this place is.
My friends and I were traveling from Dallas and literally just stumbled in this shoppe by chance. GREAT find! Amazing cupcakes and a great price.

I am super late in writing this review, but here it is.
I have always LOVED The Shoppe. I have been going there since it opened, and always used to say if I ever got married I would want my cupcakes to come from there.
My husband and I got married Nov 2012 and had Emma make our small cutting cake and cupcakes. They were AMAZING!!!
I don’t quite recall the flavors we got. But we had about three and everyone raved about them. We got lots of people asking where the cupcakes had come from.
My husband and I were completely satisfied with the quality and taste of our cupcakes.
I saw something online about gender reveal parties with cakes. We will definitely be going back to Emma and The Shoppe for that as well!

I love this place and have been a loyal cupcake customer since they opened. Whenever a cupcake craving hits, I know the Shoppe will hit the spot.
Cupcakes are always moist and frosting is creamy, just how a cupcake should be. They have both mini and regular size cupcakes and are always coming out with creative favors… cookie dough anyone?
The place is never busy, at least whenever I’ve visited and they are always friendly.
Cute little spot. Gave a 4 only because I wish they had more comfy chairs to sink into. Cupcakes are a 5+.

Sometimes I forget I’m an adult and then this thought runs through my head: I could buy a chocolate cake and I could eat it for dinner. All of it. I could do it and nobody would be able to stop me. Also, I could have wine for dessert. Wine that doesn’t even complement the cupcakes! The power of adulthood, you guys. It’s scary.*
This place is located right next to a liquor store, which is how I found it (naturally) and which should make it a huge draw. On my first trip here I bought all of the cupcakes (well, $ 18.00 worth; should I be ashamed?), split them with my roommate because A. I am an upstanding guy, and B. there is less shame when other people are involved in your glutcakeony. We made short work of them because once you bite into them they sort of collapse from all of the frosting piled on there. You sometimes have to shovel. Plus: when I got them to go, they were stuffed way too tightly in the tiny carrying box and they sort of smashed together. Why would you want to ruin the beauty you work so hard to create, Shoppe?
Other things:
They also have fruit pies, which are worth trying if you want to feel a little less guilty (fruit is healthy). I’m not sure I prefer them to the cupcakes, but it is mostly because they don’t come in as many varieties. Plus they are pretty rich.
They have small cupcakes that cost $ 1.00 each and that take one bite to eat. Sample sizes! It’s easy to indulge here is what I’m saying.
If you sign up for their newsletter, they will let you know when new flavors are released (usually new seasons and/​or special events, it seems). They will put instructions on how to get FREE CUPCAKES (!) when you come in: trivia questions, secret codes, what-​have-​you. Great marketing strategy.**
The first time I came in here, a teacher followed behind me with a homemade card from a classroom full of young’uns, thanking them for a donation. A cupcake shop that supports education? Guys, you can’t get much more idyllic than that. If I had more klout I would have thought it was staged.

* In case you’re wondering: I don’t recommend having cupcakes for dinner — not because of the stomachache or the early onset diabeetus, but because you might be so hungry that you’ll wolf it down without savoring it properly.
** Pro-​tip: If they send you a buy-​one-​get-​one-​free deal, make sure that you mention it to them, and mention it CLEARLY (or have a copy of the email on your phone or something) because it seems that not all of the employees get the deal memos and you might not notice that you didn’t get the deal until afterwards because, you know, the anxiety coursing through you tells your brain, «DON’T MESS UP» in an infinite loop when the transaction takes place.

The cheesecake cupcake was incredible, as was the cookie dough and red velvet minis. The salted carmel bacon was a little disappointing (all the flavor was in the icing, not in the cupcake) in comparison. But, overall, the variety of flavors were great.
Unfortunately, we were here on the day the coffee machine died. It would have been nice to have some blended coffee drinks with our cupcakes. But, the attempt at an iced chai was much appreciated :)

Great place for socializing. Love their mint cupcakes and salted caramel mini (which I had at a previous event and the salted caramel is popular). Light and fluffy frostings which are a must for me and really friendly service. Enjoy the tables, art, games, etc…
I am giving them 4 stars for the fact that they tend to run out of the mini cupcakes of some of the good flavors so they need to make more (not sure if this is even a negative since that tells you how good they are). They do get busy so I recommend the earlier you can get there the better (we were there at 3PM on a nice sunny 45 degree Sunday so people were out and about).
I just wish their espresso machine wasn’t broken today since I would have loved to try one of their fancy coffees to have with my yummy cupcake. I had regular coffee which was still good, but I wasn’t able to try anything special.
This place is a must for cup cake fanatics!

Best cupcakes in Denver? Well, in fairness, I haven’t yet tried all of the cupcakes in Denver, but I feel sure these are at the top of the heap. This bakery was featured in an episode of The Cooking Channel’s «Unique Sweets», after all. The flavors are imaginative and ever-​changing. Here are some that I have tried so far:
Pumpkin Chocolate Chip
Chocolate Wine
Samoa (as in the Girl Scout cookie)
Nutella
Snickerdoodle
Strawberry Chocolate Upside Down Cake
Cookies and Cream
Salted Caramel
Chocolate and Cream Cheese
And I’m still adding to the list! I’m willing to sample almost any cupcake The Shoppe decides to whip up. The cakes are moist and dense and the icings are rich and flavorful. The combination of the two creates a decadent and satisfying response to your cupcake craving. Some of the cupcakes have filling inside as a bonus. Luckily, every regular sized cupcake has a mini version so you can try several different flavors without committing to a whole cupcake.
If you haven’t yet eaten your breakfast before you arrive at The Shoppe, not to worry. The bakery has an extensive menu of cold cereals and a variety of toppings to mix in your bowl. Some of these cereals are also used as cupcake toppings. If you’re not particularly in the mood for cupcakes, you can have a cookie or a slice of pie instead. To wash down all of these sugary delights, you may order a basic or fancy coffee drink, hot chocolate, or my favorite, Bhakti chai.
Yep, you’ll definitely get your sugar fix at The Shoppe. So go check ‘em out ’cause they got it going on.

A cupcake tour you ask? Why not?!
This was stop two of the day and by far was the highlight!
I love that they offer mini cupcakes, it allows you to try multiple flavors without having to eat one large cupcake. We all enjoyed a variety of flavors and probably split 10 – 15 mini cupcakes. One stand out was the Eggnog Cupcake with a yummy filling — if you like eggnog you will really enjoy this bite. I also personally enjoyed the mint chocolate cupcake, tasted like an Andes Mint.
The place is certainly eclectic with the art on the wall and a unique little store front on Colfax. Cereal is offered and a spicket of water to pair with your sweet munchies at your filling pleasure (nice touch).
I would really like to come back here to try the other pastry offerings, so much more than just cupcakes.
Cupcake flavors across the board was moist, fluffy, and delightful in texture and flavor.

Came here for the UYE-​cupcake tour recently and wow were we blown away!
First, they have mini and regular sized cupcakes — go for the mini so you can try more of the flavors!
We had probably 1 different types, but my favorite was the eggnog as there is a pudding like yummy substance between the frosting and the cake. I also very much liked the super villain, so named as it will add 5 pounds to you as you bask in the goodness (hint, it has peanut butter and chocolate in just the frosting alone).
They also offer cereal, board games, art, and a very eclectic vibe — more Boulder or Austin than Denver. There are gluten free and vegan free options in the back, just ask!
Stop by here sometime and give it a shot!

If by some bizarre set of circumstances I was cursed to only eat cupcakes from one establishment for the rest of my life, The Shoppe would be my first choice. The fact that they had a mini version of every cupcake here is one of the best things about this place. The very best thing, of course, is the amazing flavors and varieties of cupcakes to be found here. The banana cream pie was better than most real pies I have eaten. The eggnog cupcake sounded odd to me, but the filling was so authentic as to make one gasp in surprise. The super villain (chocolate, peanut butter, and cocoa krispies) was decadent and flavorful. The carrot cake was delicious and had a proper cream cheese frosting.
Also, for the sake of argument, if you happen to be one of those poor, sad individuals who is a cupcake H8R, you have other options. Along with various baked goods (nutella whoopie pie, anyone?), there is an assortment of cereals here to rival a grocery store. Here is the list: Apple Jacks, Captain Crunch, Cocoa Puffs, Captain Crunch Berries, Cheerios, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Golden Grahams, Cocoa Krispies, Cookie Crisp, Corn Flakes, Corn Pops, Corn Chex, Honey Bunches of Oats, Honey Comb, Honey Nut Cheerios, Frosted Flakes, Frosted Mini Wheats, Fruit Loops, Fruity Pebbles, Kashi, Lucky Charms, Raisin Bran, Reese’s Puffs, Rice Krispies, Special K, Trix. .. now push your dropped jaw back up, wipe the drool from your chin, and take a trip to The Shoppe to feed your inner sugar junkie.

Took my family on a mini cupcake tour and this was our 2^nd stop.
Only 2 people there and we had to wait a while to be helped. So, we got our 3 cupcakes and all agreed right away that we didn’t like how cold they were. They keep all their cupcakes in a fridge case.
All of our cupcakes had something in the middle, like chocolate ganache or peanut butter. And being so cold, it made the center into a chunk and not easy to cut, eat or share. It separated from the cake.
So, I recommend getting their cupcakes to go and have them sit out for a little bit before eating.

The cupcakes at The Shoppe are so sweet that they make my teeth hurt just thinking about them. And not in a «hurt so good» kind of way. The cupcakes are over the top. Inches of frosting are topped with sprinkles and sugary cereal when, in my opinion, they’d probably just benefit from being toned down and simplified.
So, the cupcakes aren’t my thing, but The Shoppe does have something going for it. Mini pies! Not only are the pies pretty darling, but they’re good and they always have several flavors to choose from.
If your sweet tooth just can’t be satiated, head to The Shoppe. They’ll have you swearing off sugar for days.
